Has anyone run these yet?Tire Reviewers are all shills and can't be trusted.
>>28897778 (OP)Nobody's really run them yet, they're too new. The tires are supposed to be about as fast as but last longer than the RS. It takes a while to do real endurance testing, so we aren't going to have much data on how long they last and how consistent they are over their lifespan until after this season is over
>>28897778Idk, I'll see if they are any good or not
why would you ever run anything but a052
Imagine getting summer tires and not sending it on 860TW rocks
>>28897778I don't see how they can be worse than the RS
>>28898823A052 are slower in heavier cars.also unsuitable for hot weather or track use.If I was doing a time attack or Autocross run in 40F weather I'd pick the Yoks.
>>28898823A052 is a great autox tire or for one or two laps on a track but then get greasy as fuck from heat and need to be cooled down. Makes them great rain tires tho. 71RS are a little slower but more consistent when they get warm, but their treadwear is shit. Hopefully the RZ addresses that
>>28897778My HPDE instructor was running these in his Mk5 Supra and he told me compared to the old one, they’re a bit stiffer and communicate a lil more. He thinks it’s an upgrade overall. He can’t comment on wear since they’re newTangentially related to tires, I just did a track weekend, and my left side is worn way more than the right, how should I rotate my tires to wear them out more evenly for the next track/autocross? Standard front to rear and rear across?
>>28898907>but their treadwear is shitRS have way better lifespan than A052 by a mile.>>28898926I rotate tires differently every other time.So first rotation will be front to rear. Then the next rotation in a X-Pattern.That way no 1 tire gets eaten to fast. But if your local track has more long duration corners in 1 direction, some uneven wear will happen regardless.
>>28899004>>28898926You're not supposed to swap radials side to side without remounting them even if they aren't directional.
>>28899008>You're not supposed to swap radials side to side without remounting them even if they aren't directional.Anon.....I....
>>28897778Why are you asking this? 99.999% of the people on this board doesn't even have a track ready car. I bet you'll at best have one person in this thread who has any meaningful track time.
>>28899115you can drive them on the streetif you're an idiotand most people here are idiots
>>28899121I've driven 335/30r18 Hoosier R7 slicks 100 miles to a track. It's not a fun time but perfectly doable.
>>28899125>It's not a fun timePussy.
>>28899152You have to have a death grip on the steering wheel. Those slicks are ready to rip the wheel out of your hands if it finds any rut in the road. That and those slicks lasted 250 street miles, 1 track day, & 8 autocross laps.
>>28899302I know what it's like, I used to daily a miata with 245 RC-1s, a depowered rack, and a 270mm steering wheel. What I'm saying is that you're a pussy.
>>28899342>miata owner calling anyone a pussy lol
The only potenza i've used are Potenza s001's. Which are an old compound.
>>28897778Bridgestone Potenza's will work with 90% of the racecars on the market. Yokahama Advan 1's are really good as well. People just usually choose whatever brand of tire won last season. They are not built for GT supercars. so yeah, they are literally the best thing you can legally slap on your car. they have just enough tread to be legally not drag slicks. unfortunately i have been out of the loop. but Advan 1's and Potenza's are like coke and pepsi.
>>28899121no you dont drive them on the streets. not because they are dangerous (except in wet storms) you do it to preserve your tires for the track. >>28899115well i just walked in and said what i said. now what? >>28899353
>DOTno theyre shit
unless you are racing a porsche or a vette or something that makes more power than that.it would appear that Bridgestone overall took higher positions over Yokahama last season.Lets just cut the bullshit of the pretenders that think they know whats good for racing and look at who won and what tires they were running.https://cdn.connectsites.net/user_files/scca/downloads/000/077/334/2025%20Combined%20Official%20Class%20Results%20%20w%20Protests%20&%20Appeals.pdf?1759500233
>>28899345Yeah, because you're an even bigger pussy than a miata owner.>waah these tires make my widdle noodle arms sore!Grow a pair.
>>28899366Non DOT slicks are mad.I drove a set of Michelin 270mm S9m mounted on a 18x11.Fuck, hand of god levels of grip.1.7Gs sustained in a few fast corners Makes your eyes hurt.>>28899375Everything but super lightweight cars seemed to do well on the 71RS last year.Miata bros in street classes are still running a052s since The RS don't work well on those cars
>>28900201some classes have different models of cars. some classes require you to have exactly the same model car, same upgrades too. so tires, suspension, ect. so if you see an entire class of the same car running the same tire, its probably for that reason. There are tons of Miata's running Bridgestone or Yokohama. if you want to be more specific. so I guess what you can do, is you can go through the rule book and figure out what make and model your car would go under. if you have any upgrades like a better suspension, or wider tires, or running bolt ons, or a full internals that will put you in a different class. so i guess the real thing you should know, is what class is my stock, slightly, or fully modded miata spec'd to, and who won that class last year, and what tires were they on?if you want to race, you should read the entire rule book. I mean they don't FORCE you to as a newcomer. but sooner or later you should, because it goes over a lot of stuff. https://cdn.connectsites.net/user_files/scca/downloads/000/078/494/2026%20Solo%20Rulebook%20Feb.pdf?1770664112
>Buying upgrades to compete in a specific class VS Buying upgrades because you see someone on a community form "doing a build"its an entirely different approach, one is based and aware, the other is copying without understanding and cringe.
>>28900285The street categories for smaller cars are almost all on A052.I didn't see a single DST car at nationals on anything but Yoks.>>28900302A spec class is different than copying the top runners. It's easy to see the fastest guy running a setup and want to copy it.But some guys are fast regardless of their setups.
>>28900345that's a thoughtful sentiment. but when you compete in a spec class where everyone has the exact same cars with the exact same parts and upgrades, it literally becomes like F1 where you levels of engineering come into play. I'm not going to pretend to know how to fully get a car to perfection. but i know that this is where people protect secrets on how they do their set ups. when you get to that level its like pinewood derby. any advantage you can get that you can legally apply within the rule book that will shave off time you will do. people are taking into account. my buddy who took first in nationals multiple years who i have understudied, got into the spec classes and got whooped because 1000IQ giga autists who spend all winter perfecting their spring rates on their suspension show up and beat everyone by 1 second. this is also where you will see people just running enough fuel to not fuel starve their cars. its literally another level. most people just get a good car, through on some tires and compete stock. some people move up. i have upgraded and downgraded my car to compete in different classes. i have take my fair share of 1st places in local events. but when you go to higher level events. some events will only give you 3 runs. and if you are not locked in, you are just NGMI. i totally agree the driver makes the car. but a good car can make a piss poor driver look good.
* marked UDM spec PS4S is the only tire I’m buying.
>>28900491unless you are driving a car that can actually make enough power to get good use of those tires. you are probably just wasting money. all show, no understanding.
>>28900494of course I am
id compete in a higher class if i could afford a nicer car. i could move up to something more technical or more powerful. but you know what also makes a driver slower.MONEY.
Quit being poor then
quit buying sports cars you take to cars and coffee off the market.
>>28900487I'm not reading all that.Sum it up in 3 sentences or less >>28900491PS4s is a decent street tire. Not even in the same category as a super 200tw though.
>>28900516bow to your sensei before i smack you. i am clearly the most knowledgeable one ITT when it comes to entry level autoX/Rallycross.
>>28900517Fast drivers always have a certain way of talking. You don't sound like anyone fast.
