I paid more than 5 bucks a gallon in bum fuck nowhere New Mexico back in 2012 during a road trip.
Minimum wage for a burger flipper in california today is $20 an hour.
It was $8 in 2012.
Kindly eat a dick.
>>
Came within seconds of blowing up my entire life dealing with an absolute faggot of a yard dog today. Had to take a deep breath and play it cool instead of asking if he'd ever been hit in the head with a hammer or if he'd like to meet me in the grass outside the gate. Doorman manlet syndrome chihuahua brained wigger. Made sure to set the landing gear as high as it could possibly be cranked on the empty I left, will not be returning to that place ever again. Whatever it is about that job the people that do it are either exceptionally chill or deserve being beaten within an inch of their lives and there's no inbetween.

Useless if they have hydraulic 5th wheel platforms. Was it one of those cheap yards where dogs use normal trucks?

Tail swings are a preventable hazard, so the other driver would be at fault.
>>
I'm thinking of doing a total career pivot.
Was thinking of trying to get a CDL, but wondering if there's other jobs you can get with a CDL that isn't trucking.
>>
Adjust your rates to where fuel costs are at you goobers. The shippers and brokers should be the ones accounting for your fuel costs and you're letting them take advantage of you.
>>
>>28901187
in the states, if you don't really use your cdl for trucking jobs for a period of time you'll have to take refresher courses.

that being said, you could also be a yard jockey. it won't count as driving experience, but it's still a CDL job
>>
>>28901187
If you want a CDL trucking-esque job that isn't trucking, try a railway inspection company like Sperry. You still travel and are put up in company-paid hotels but you aren't a "trucker." Bonus if you have any NDT knowledge.
>>
regular guy question for truckfags:

how do you choose which fleet you drive for? when I'm on the highway I'll pass like 40 different branded trucks all saying the same "WE PAY YOU MORE PER MILE" jargon on the side
>>
>>28901257
>driving for a fleet

I mean I get it if you're just getting started but the end goal should be getting your own truck, your own authority and having your own customers for loads. Maybe even getting a broker/carrier authority at some point. Be your own boss one day then when you have regular customers you hire employees and they drive your trucks and you can retire comfortably with 3 trucks or so and a steady amount of loads
>>
>>28901257
One of the main narrowing-down points is usually home time, freight type and routes. These are usually advertised on apps and company sites. From there you just pick whichever one offers the best deal for your experience level.
>>
>>28899201
New Mexico fag here. Where'd you go? I still don't even pay 4 a gallon and that's for premium. Diesel is still only about 4.50 here.
>>
>>28901257
I base it on which carriers have terminals close to home and go from there. Research can help but all megas are a mixed bag of being decent and being completely shit, so you will just need to choose one that suits you the most.
Do not fall for the bullshit advertising you’ll see on the back of those trailers. Starting pay will always be shit, especially for solo OTR drivers, who earn $35k annually, but you’ll have to start somewhere.
>>

nta but even with the megacarrier debuff diesel is over 5 a gallon on the west coast
>>
>>28901257
I look for companies where the amount of bullshit you have to put up with is minimal. No driver facing cameras, not getting phone calls because you were yelling in the truck about niggers acting like niggers in Atlanta traffic, and a safety department that really doesn't give a fuck as long as you're not hitting shit and not going faster than their insurance will cover in case of an accident. I'll take a pay cut to not have to deal with churlish bullshit. Bonus points if they have a pet policy and a lax idling policy even if they're unofficial and only offered to drivers that really excel and will tolerate some bullshit with little complaint and will still be professional and polite when shit gets hard.

I know I could make an extra 15k the second my first year is up moving to another company that I have my eye on. But if their recruiter doesn't answer my questions the right way and won't put certain things in writing, I'll just stay where I'm at and train noobs and make an extra 15k that way. Personally I think being an O/O nowadays is fucking retarded and insane because of all of the liability especially if you're under your own authority, and I think if you're a lease op you're too goddamn stupid to live and experience tells me that is the case 90% of the time. Only way it would make sense to go O/O under your own authority is if you're a functioning psychopath that lives like a monk that will undercut jeets and megas and use every hook and crook in the book to get ahead until you can buy more trucks and get to the point you can be a broker as well, at which point you can start a company, and continue being a ruthless fucking monster from an office instead of a sleeper bunk like everyone else that has a successful trucking company. Or you can just be a company man and be making six figures net after 5-8 years depending on the industry segment you're in and when you get out of the truck or it breaks down or someone hits you you don't care.
>>
I’ve got orientation this upcoming Monday. I think I’ve become less ignorant and stupid since my last attempt at starting driving trucks. Any advice besides don’t hit shit? Is there a copy and paste phrase I can say if I’m being pressured to drive or do something illegal? Excited to get some experience behind me!
>>
>>28901932
Go slow and don't hit shit. If you're asked to do something illegal ask them to send you that request in writing, and if you're pressured to drive when you're tired or don't have enough time to make it legally tell them in writing that you're tired and you're going to stop and take a nap.

Mostly though, just shut up and pay attention and don't act like you know everything. Ask an annoying amount of questions. Don't be an asshole to anybody for any reason.
>>
>>28901932
> there a copy and paste phrase I can say if I’m being pressured to drive or do something illegal?
swing wide itsa fucking trailer
best advice is go 5 under the speed limit, watch your mirrors, read all the signs and turn wide as possible every time
if a road looks sketchy to go down, dont go down it
like other anon said get everything in writing, dont be afraid to ask stupid questions and dont freeze up when youre in a pressure situation - if you make a move or turn and realize it was a mistake commit to it then go from there, indecision is how you fuck other people up
And in traffic at least in the beginning turn the radio off and just drive in silence
youll get used to it you just have to get used to it, took me about a year for it to really click and now 5 years in i can do this shit in my sleep
>>
>>28901932
Get Out And Look
When in doubt, Get Out And Look
When you feel like hot shit, Get Out And Look
When you feel like you should do it every time you’re backing a trailer, Get Out And Look
If you think you’ve hit something, Get Out And Look
When a some fucktard and/or towelhead damages someone else’s truck at a truck stop or shipping yard, Get Out And Look
When a pissed off trucker starts beating/murdering a lot lizard, Get Out And Look

Thank you for all the advice! My game plan as far as food/drinks is that until I’m able to buy a fridge and what not for the truck is to avoid slop if I can, and drink only water with the occasional electrolyte drink. I don’t drink coffee, so I’ll just stay stocked on gum. I’ve got a 35lb kettlebell, and a yoga mat to throw out on the asphalt so I can workout. Will this be a job I can still do 5/10/20 years from now and be able to retire from? Is it even possible to have a relationship while driving? I want to get a cat or dog after I’ve got some miles under me and a better understanding of the job and if I can fit a pet into it.

I’m sure it is but it’s easier being single.
>I want to get a cat or dog after I’ve got some miles under me
I have a cat. She’s very manageable but she hates it when I leave her in the truck for work, but it’s better than her being stuck at home without me since she’s very attached to me.

Even welfare express won't openly ask you to do something illegal. They'll just put you in situations where it can happen and see whether you do it or call it out and refuse to do it. That happens often with quite a few carriers. Personally, if it's something that's not really a big deal like an inspection being a month or two out of date or a missing mudflap I'll usually run it no questions asked. If I'm going to a state that's a real bitch at the weigh station or it's just a really shitty run I don't want to do, I'll make a stink about it. If it's blatantly stupidly giga illegal I'm documenting shit and going to safety so they can resize someone's asshole.

Granted, it’s not the worst toilet I’ve encountered – toilets in truck parking areas, such as one in Missouri on I-55 near I-57, is essentially a permanent porta potty with a stainless steel bucket with a hole in the middle and your shit goes into hole in the ground.

It only smells if you don’t clean if for several days but I usually keep it clean every day. I keep a small enclosed litter box on the floor of the passenger seat. It gives her more privacy and it prevents cat litter from getting kicked outside of the box.

you will be fine and when you go solo your dispatch wont immediately throw you to the deep end, but yeah driving tired is a part of the job you just have to get good at it
youre currently running what they call “super solo” runs where theoretically a single guy could run it if theyre on their Ps and Qs but its great for a driver with a trainer because exactly how youre feeling, you get worn out so the A seat can take over

>>
>>28903097
It takes a while to be able to drive 8 hours straight without a break for most people. I for damn sure couldn't do it when I first started. A lot of guys stop every four hours to take a break and honestly if you're not running super hot loads and you're starting your day early enough that's the way you should do it. Law says you're supposed to stop every three hours or 150 miles to check your shit but most dryvan guys don't do that because it's overkill.

It's good to know how to do some supertrucker bullshit but you really shouldn't be trying to do that every single day. If you want to drive three hours, stop for 15 minutes, drive another three, take your 30, then do the rest of your shift until you shut down nobody is going to bitch about it if you're making your appointment times.

These things are great for trucking. The noise cancellation is god-tier and will turn a noisy day cab into just a low whine of road noise that disappears under music. Nice sound quality, too, with good instrument separation and nice highs.

>>
>>28903945
You have to apply for a special waiver from the FMCSA to be able to have a CDL if you're deaf, the application process takes months to complete, and you have to do it all over again in two years after you receive that waiver. You technically can have a CDL and be completely deaf from birth but it's not like you just check a box and they give you the license. It was flat out illegal up until 2013.

Personally I think you're retarded for not just working for a company that has bluetooth enabled sound systems in trucks that aren't totally clapped out pieces of shit rather than insisting on wearing headphones like an uppity shithead in highschool. Getting a better job because you're treated like equipment rather than a human being where you're at now would be "being white". Being a scofflaw retard limiting one of your senses while doing what is statistically a wildly dangerous job because you have to listen to jungle music bongo banging all day to be happy is "being a jiggaboo".

WX-1000XM5's will make a day cab far quieter than a Cascadia sleeper full of couch cushions for sound deadening, and the sound quality is on the level of a SQ competition system. Today marks my 1 year as a solo trucker, and I’ve just completed my first 100,000 miles. Still got a lot to learn and I still need to work on getting my backing perfect but I’m confident in my abilities, and know how to correct any errors in my backing.
Here’s to another year and another 100,000 miles. I’m planning on continuing working for the same carrier to gain more experience but I may consider greener pastures once I feel like I’ve outgrown them. I’m still considering my options for what type of freight I want to haul and whether or not I should specialize, which would be beneficial, financially.

From one greenhorn to another, work on your endurance. You should be able to last a long in a truck to be able to drive for up to 8 hours straight before needing to take a break.

If you're being super anal and running according to the law to the letter you're supposed to stop every three hours or 150 miles and do a midtrip inspection so technically that's all you should have to do without stopping. Realistically you need to be able to do six hours at minimum. It's a rare day I run 7.5 in a row without stopping and I have no problem getting 9-10x my governed speed regularly.

Older Eatons were like that. They eventually learned how to make them do a reverse creep mode but they're still not even close to a Volvo I-shift/Mack M-drive or even a DAF (PACCAR) 12 speed. Just a half-assed job by Eaton imo.

What I learned about the things was you had to be reeeeaaaal easy on the fuel. Like almost imperceptible movements of the foot. The necessary movement is so slight that it seems like there's a delay in increasing pressure on the pedal and the engine rpms coming up just slightly. And even then the damn thing is going to stop on you multiple times. If you've gotta jack it into a tight spot you'll end up rocking back and forth at the point of highest resistance as you try to get the truck to move without acting like it's rocket assisted backing.
>>
>>28909638
The worst thing about it imo is clutch overheat. Pull up one too many times because its a tight back? Sorry fucko, hope you like sitting in the middle of the driveway blocking other trucks waiting for the clutch to cool down so your instrument panel stops screaming its digital lungs out at you.

The source is a 2003 report done by the CDC. It's even younger for owner operators at 56 years. Realistically though unless you just totally give in and let the stress consume you you can make it to old age as a truck driver. Oldest driver in the US with an active cdl is in his 90's and I've got family that did it for nearly 50 years that are in their 90's now and still hanging on pretty strong but they retired about a decade ago.

If you're a retard and get fat, smoke, drink every second you're off work, and have no friends or family and stay mad enough to kill people all the time then yeah it'll kill you young.

yeah diesel pumps are like 2x the size of a regular car pump and have a handle for each side of the truck
it’s a mindfuck when you get back into your regular car and use standar pumps they feel tiny
>>
>>28911835
Sometimes you get a fuel lane where some idiot drove off with the line still in the tank and ripped it off the pump and the only replacement the store had was a smaller fuel rate nozzle and it takes fucking forever to fill your truck with it. Typically at a good pump at loves with two standard tractor nozzles you're doing about a gallon every two seconds with both of them going full blast so even putting 150 gallons in only takes like five minutes. But if you get a fucked up one or the store you're at is starting to get low on diesel in the holding tanks that shit can drag ass all the way up to like 20 minutes.

Over certain temps (86 in our case) the truck won't shut down, so you can run the sleeper AC which is far better than the APU's, though if you work for shitters this may be disabled.

>>
>>28915142
APU? The only one I've had that could really cool the entire cabin was a Dynasys but it was so unreliable it just about didn't matter.

The Thermokings just don't have what it takes to keep the entire sleeper cool, let alone the entire cabin. What I found was
1)get some insulated window covers
2)Park facing away from the sun
3Park in the shade, or will be in shade soon, wherever possible.
4)cool the cabin as much as you can with the truck a/c before parking
5)Do NOT let the cabin warm up in the slightest before getting the APU going
6)hang a blanket from the top bunk such that the bottom bunk is closed off
7)close all a/c vents but those for the bottom bunk
8)have a small fan in the bottom bunk too
9)the bottom bunk is your life now

That'll work for most of the US but places like
Phoenix you're just fucked and have to run during the day.

If you're running the truck a/c then it helps to idle up to around a 1000 and also have the engine cooling fan on constant so that there's good airflow over the condenser. If you've got a PACCAR everyone will hate you because of the noise but you'll be cool.
>>
>>28915626
Just remembered there was something about some of the APU cooled air bleeding off through the truck sleeper a/c unit and onto the floor via the truck sleeper a/c air intake and I had to get under the bunk and pull a couple hoses off so I could block that backflow and get more out of the bunk vents. Been too long and can't remember exactly what I had to do just that I did it.

shrimply check the trailer before taking it if its empty. higher trailer number doesnt always equal no problems, i had a 16000 trailer earlier and there was zero problems. also they make the jake turn off under 35mph which is bullshit for anything other than highway. if youre a new driver and stevens was your first and youre quiting 2 months in, youll look like a retard to anyone that you think is "good", let alone non megacarriers. and you still have to pay stevens for the training you did. every single company will say they have maintained fleets. stevens maintains their fleet via the drivers telling stevens that the trailer needs fixed, idk what else you think "maintained fleet" means.

Yes, in emergencies, such as equipment failure. As in getting down a mountain until you can get your equipment repaired and fully functional again, which they don't seem to think is a high priority. But I'm glad you found your calling at an auto only basic bitch fleet hauling reefer after how many years now? Way to set your sights high, Tyrone

>>28917961
Dude if you don't stick it out for at minimum six months wherever you start then nobody real will even look at you. Preferably a year minimum even if you're in hell at welfare express. You need to be able to tolerate bullshit and incredible stress to drive a commercial vehicle at all but especially OTR and if you bitch out early and quit then the only job you're going to get is driving a dumb truck, garbage truck, or maybe a school bus and all of those suck ass in their own special way.

If shit is broken on your truck then tell your dispatcher you need to get routed to a terminal with a shop for repairs and note everything and go chill out in a hotel for a week making maintenance layover to jerk off and get drunk. I've deal with everything you've mentioned and a ton of other shit and I'm 11 months in to doing solo OTR. I fucking hate the company I'm with but I'm still sticking it out because I'm not a bitch and I'm not shitting on them openly and directly on social media because I'm not a retard and would like to get another job after I leave this one. I would fistfight you in a dirt lot to have your job and not bust my contract in the process and I promise you everyone over there thinks you're a fag if you're crying two months in, sack the fuck up and take care of your shit and get it the fuck done. Then go somewhere else. Hell if your shit is as fucked as you say it is then request a different truck. If you're leasing a truck at all anywhere for any reason then you're a goddamn moron extraordinaire because the only thing that makes sense anymore is being a company driver until you save up enough to buy your own truck outright if you're an insane functioning psychopath and think you can hack it as an O/O. I openly laugh at lease drivers at the company I'm at. They make less than me as a company driver.

>>
>>28918208
Going down any grade is easy with properly functioning and maintained equipment.
>>
>>28918162
Tried the meds, and I touch grass every day. Anyone signing a lease agreement for a truck is literally too stupid to live. About 90% of all leases get broken and while you technically do get paid more as a lease op both gross and net you're just turning around and giving it back to whoever you're leasing from for repairs and maintenance and you're making their fuel factoring cheaper under the guise of you getting a discount buying on their account at a lower rate than retail. You're also assuming a ton more liability. It's the dumbest thing you can do other than deciding to be an O/O without six figures in the bank after you buy and make ready for revenue service a truck. I know you're just trolling and being a faggot but it doesn't change the reality of anything I've said and me telling people when they're being an idiot doesn't make me crazy or too emotionally invested it just means other people that read this won't make the same retard mistake.

I could at least understand if they're a company driver and they don't want to be down for repairs because layover pay sucks ass and they have bills due but they're still being an idiot in that scenario both financially and safety wise and need to unfuck themselves. Not having jakes is beyond even a deathwish it's willful negligence that puts other peoples lives at risk. And you can go fuck yourself with your retarded pseud niggerbabble too.

Sure, it’s possible for shops to fix whatever is wrong with your truck, whenever you take it in for a mid trip inspection or a full service, without ever telling them about the issue, but they can easily overlook shit or the issue doesn’t pop up because they do not drive the tractor in the same environment as the drivers do, that would cause the issue to reveal itself.

Anon, it’s a 7th gen – the first of the worst Civics. While I don’t have any real complaints about it, I need to, at least, upgrade back to a CB7. I miss owning a 90s Accord…
But my now-infrequent personal car driving is preventing me from making that worthwhile, so yeah, I’m sticking with my Civic for a little while longer.

>>28918775
If it’s any consolation, our trucks are too big and heavy to feel the impact, if we ran over poor Thumper.
>>
I need a novelty gun that shoots soft magnets onto cars, so that I can order a pack of magnets that shows a semi truck crushing a car with “Darwin Award Contender” stamped on it and fire the magnets to the rear of any car of a fucktard that thinks getting right in front of a semi going downhill is a good idea.
>>
>>28918923
Also, the gun will need to be air compressed so that it will fire forcefully enough for the magnets to fight air drag.
~1% success rate of the magnets sticking to the car.

>>
>>28919259
Well, yeah, diesel is expensive for truckers, no matter the cost per gallon is, which is why some of us became fleet drivers who do not have to pay for fuel with our own money.

Every time I use Jake brake this appears on the dash, I have to pull onto the shoulder, cycle the key on and off six times, and then get back onto the highway from a dead stop. Good shit.

Still drove 3400 miles this week despite this problem as well as having a trailer tire blowout and being stopped waiting for road rescue.

Next time it happens or if it happens at a stoplight or something, stop and stomp on the service brake as hard as possible then click it into neutral and then back into drive or reverse as necessary. Also, if you haven't tried it yet, hit the battery killswitch and leave the truck parked and dead for 30-60 minutes to reset it fully and then hit it again to turn it back on and see if the behavior persists. Paccar trucks (the modern ones) have a bunch of retarded electrical and computer gremlins and turning them off and back on again resolves a lot of them. For whatever reason stomping the service brake and getting the air system up to 80-100psi of application will force the transmission to shift or start the truck if it's off as well.

The real answer however is get your shit fixed ASAP whether that's taking it to a company shop or paying for it out of pocket. Taking any kind of real load down a grade with no jakes is going to kill you or other people.
>>
You see those truckers who jake brake unnecessarily wherever they go? They’re hypermilers, considering jake braking cuts fuel supply to the engine.
>>
>>28919383
>the real answer however is to get your shit fixed asap
nah youre a retard if you tell the company about problems you have
>>
>>28919626
Normally I would agree but if it's safety sensitive shit like tires or jakes or your defroster you need to get that shit fixed even if it means sitting in a hotel room for a week making maintenance layover. Otherwise you'll be risking it all every time you hit the road. I've driven without AC for two weeks because I needed the money but the defroster still worked so it wasn't unsafe, it just sucked.
>>
>>28918558
Glad to see it.
>>
>>28919390
this
it costs nothing to hit the jakes, saves on brake wear as well
i use my jakes liberally and only need to get brakes serviced every 200k miles or so
>>
Fiddina boughta get drunk as fuark on my home time. Six weeks out is a bitch. Not as bad as the time I did twelve though.
>>
>>28919330
Update. The shop said they replaced the stalk on the steering column to fix it...

Sounds like fucking bullshit to me.
>>
>>28921307
Known issue. There's an active recall on those shift stalks and in fact they only recently made a revised version that eliminates it entirely. Previously all they could do was just put a replacement in that would eventually fail in the same manner and the only real fix was to just hit the killswitch and leave it off for an hour to reset everything whenever it started fucking up.

In general if any modern semi starts getting retarded on you, turn it off and hit the switch and leave everything off for at minimum 30 minutes.

My ‘24 T680 keeps doing passive regens and it’s annoying the fuck out of me.
Granted, the regens are only going up to 800 RPM.
I’m considering doing a proper, manual regen between 1200 and 1500 RPM, if it happens one more time. I do not want to give this truck a reason to derate itself.

I check my tire pressure by dropping an anvil on top of each of them, including trailers.

Indiana is full of freaks and retards.
>>
>>28922836
I don't check them every day but I do at least kick or thump every tire at the start of my day. I check the steers every other day. Also have a gladhand air hose with a tire chuck on it so if they're low I can use the truck air supply to air them up, because most truck stops either don't have compressed air or if they do have it the system is often unmaintained dogshit that doesn't work or barely works.

Honestly though you can blow any tire but a steer and it don't really make a fuck unless you're stupid heavy or the roads are shitty with snow and ice.

Get Out And Look
I made sure to do plenty of G.O.A.L.S. during my evaluation, last year, and managed to pass. Examiner was astonished and told me most people never do their G.O.A.L.S. and usually fail.
If you need to, download MyUSTruckingSkills on your phone and practice with it. The free version should suffice but paying for the full version may allow you to work on a scenario closer to what is on your evaluation.

Nothing really out of the ordinary, but an assortment of loose freight 3 months into OTR trucking. I opened the door to my load and saw something that could not be secured with load bars/straps. I took a picture for liability and then shut and sealed the doors.

>>
To the other greenhorns doing OTR, if dispatch ever puts you on a “pop up”, you’re basically running a temporary dedicated route for a customer, and it may be different than being on an actual dedicated route with the same customer. Say, you’re only used to running dry vans; dispatch will make sure you’re only doing drop-and-hook loads during the pop up, but if you get on the dedicated access with the same customer, they will train you to run reefer trailers, if they are used as well, and you may have more live unloads under that account.

>>
>>28924806
Shit, I had to pick up paper rolls and take them to the next state, as my first load.
>>
>>28924806
>>28924842
Paper rolls and beverage loads are both monsters to tackle, as they’re both densely-packed loads, which feels different from other similarly-weighing loads. At least beer loads aren’t top-heavy like paper rolls.
>>
>>28924848
I’m also basing this on my experience hauling a couple of loads for Busch in Virginia and New Jersey, where they only loaded one pallet high. I’m sure other shippers will double stack beverage pallets and those could potentially be more dangerous than paper rolls.
Just be safe, anon, and obey both white and yellow speed limit signs.

>the traffic lights will ACTIVELY troll you. for example, they go green, then IMMEDIATELY yellow than red
>you can't brake too fast or else you risk destroying your load despite the light fucking trolling you(happened to me, but fortunately it was during my training and we were able to blame it on the brewery)
>have to drive like an absolute bitch way below to speed limit to accomodate it
i fucking hate deliveries like this
>>
>>28924806
I'm 3 years in and I just got a home daily 9 hour garbage run a 5 minute commute from my house. The other end is a tipper so I don't even crank the landing gear down.
>>
>>28924922
Could be worse; you could be making deliveries in Evansville, Indiana, with its narrow stroads and raised medians. I can only imagine driving in NYC is one tier higher in being worse.
>>
>>28924948
You have not seen Hell until you've driven in Brooklyn. Double parking EVERYWHERE leaving you to squeeze through with an inch to spare on either side, and then it takes you an hour to go a mile.
What's supposed to be difficult about Evansville? It looks like every single street is straight without a low bridge in sight.

It’s turning onto those streets that’s the problem. Either the roads away from the major highways have less room for maneuvering or the way the intersections are designed create the illusion there’s less room than there actually is.
>>
>>28924976
I really want to be an asshole because I'm having a terrible day but I do understand how that could be hard for a noob. However I will say it's not shit compared to some of the stuff you'll run into running NYC or new jersey or massive two shits or cucknecticut. Hell even in pennsyltucky there's some tough shit to deal with.

My advice would be to just go slow, make as much room as you need even if it means blocking a lane, and swing as wide as is possible at all opportunities. That and run those tandems all the way forward even if your weight won't be legal doing it. If I'm delivering in NYC or NJ I find a truck stop close to where I'll be getting off the highway to slide them shits all the way to the front regardless what the weight is.

Most fucked up place I have delivered to as a noob was Liberty Bell Steak in Philly. Located on the intersection of PCP Ave and Fent St. I got there and thought I had been given the wrong address, as it was a small residential neighborhood with small residential streets, and the street itself was a one way street about the width of an average alley in most cities, with cars parked on the street, making it even more difficult.

I literally had to drive on the sidewalk to make the turn without hitting the parked cars with my trailer.

Here is the "dock".

You end up blocking traffic on the street while docked, while the diverse school aged urban dwellers roam in board daylight on a weekday during normal school hours, looking for things to steal.
>>
>>28924984
>>28925007
>>28925010
You’re right, I was only being dramatic, and I’ve been in worse areas than Evansville, but it’s an area I’ve driven in, recently. I’ve never driven in NYC but I have driven around New England, but not at your level.
>>
>>28925039
Just do the best you can even if it means blocking traffic to get out and look. Everyone else can literally kill themselves or get out and help.
