If it’s an 06 that means it came with an 88ci twin cam which yeah, vibrates like crazy at idle. Add a jugs to make it 91ci, which is going to include a new cam which in 06, was probably considered a “race cam” it’s going to vibrate even more at idle. More than likely that’s just how it is.

Hell yeah brother

New headgasket and carb for right hand cylinder and it started working again, even though the headgasket was not the issue here.
For some reason my old carb wouldn't pick up revs anymore, instead it just completely bogs down when you pull the slide up, tried all new parts inside, checked that everything was clean, but no go.
I don't understand because there isn't much else going on in these carbs aside for jets, which I replaced with fresh ones to no avail.
From the new chink carbs the left one wasn't working properly when you tried to cruise, it kept shuddering and backfiring, but the right one works good enough to ride it, albeit the adjustments are a bit odd and finicky.

I wish the EU would just stop being a cunt and let shit move from Russia again so I could get some genuine Pekar carbs, or I should stop being lazy and make flanges for PWKs

I time entry and speed to follow a rear bumper, the car behind them can just deal with it.
Never trust anyone.
Going all the way around the outside can always be a possibility.
Remember you can stop faster than them at their speed.
Always give yourself an escape line.

That may be gibberish, it was a train of thought.
>>

Slow the fuck down, when you feel the footpeg scrape- stand it up slowly and decelerate. Idiots going "IMMA DO THE TAIL OF THE DRAGON ON MY BAGGIE" are probably inflating motorcycle casualty numbers by 500%
>>
>>28900585
I saw that coming IMMEDIATELY when that car looked like he was wanting to continue around the roundabout. Always get on the outside lane of where you want to go, NEVER try to cross lanes like that in a roundabout, that's why the line is solid.
This is a problem for cagies too btw. You go where traffic tells you to go, not where the line says to go.

can someone explain to me like I'm 5 why I'm not supposed to hold the clutch while braking? Won't the engine die or try to keep pushing the bike further?
>>
>>28901062
The engine will do the Little Engine That Could all the way to stall. Shift down shift down etc. Pull the clutch for the last time just before you stop.
Remember to feather the brake or your instructor will get all uppity.
>>
>>28901043
AI
>>
>>28901062
You use the engine to help slow you down. This limits wear on both the engine/drivetrain and the brakes, as compared to feathering the engine.
>>
>>28901131
>>28901081
so I'm supposed to hard brake and then only hold the clutch at the very end?

When you pull the clutch in, the engine is no longer connected to the rear wheel. That means the bike is just coasting.

If you /don’t/ pull the clutch in when braking, the engine helps slow the bike down too (this is called engine braking). So you actually stop more smoothly and with more control.

The engine won’t die(stall out) as long as the bike is still moving fast enough for the gear you’re in. You only need the clutch when you’re slowing down to a crawl or stopping.

Also, if you hold the clutch in the whole time and then suddenly let it out, the bike can jerk because the engine speed and wheel speed don’t match. You are also wearing the clutch out doing this.
>>
>>28901062
You're supposed to pull the clutch in with a 2 stroke, don't engine brake with them.
Some 2 stroke cars for example had a freewheel top gear so you could go downhill with them without seizing the pistons.
>>
>>28901136
if you have to brake hard, like emergency brake, and your goal is to come to a complete stop, then yes its ok to grab both the clutch and brake lever, and hold on until you come to a complete stop.

In any other situation, you can slow down as much as possible and never need the clutch lever, as long as the engine RPMs stay high enough.
(obviously you need the clutch again to change gears now that you are a lower speed and need to be in a lower gear)

If you are going all the way down to first or second for tight turns wouldn't you end up just doing that.

I saw video of the sv-7 from the JP motorshow, and I don't get it. Heritage and style aside, it's been evident that Suzuki succeeded with their 800 p-twin. So where does a modernized 650 twin fit into their catalog?

650cc is in a weird place where it's too much power and price for the 400cc down JP or A2 markets, and it's too small for the street/adv scene which has been on a slow but inexorable crawl towards 1000cc. Old heads in love with the classic sv650 or vstrom 650 will just buy the bikes used because they last fucking forever.

What key market and I missing here?

Because you shpuld be engine braking and or gearing down u less these are very low speed maneuvers where you are feathering the clutxh and low revs to friction zone tug you forward
Engine braking > front brake >>>> rearbrake
Only really need rearbrake when threshold braking or at low stop start speeds and hill start
85% is gonna be front brake and engine braking until you need the front brake engagement
Youre probably not doing technical singletrack for it to be worrysome or in need of bunnyhops
>>
>>28901175
end up doing what?
I'm assuming someone asking that type of question isn't rev matching.

You should never be dumping the clutch lever, in motion, and letting the bike figure it out.
But I'm not sure what your question is
>>
>>28901207
If you are hard breaking from 3rd down to first with clutch pulled in then rev match to first when you are at a slower speed does it still destroy the clutch?
Also is there such a thing as reve matching upshifts?

A proper downshift will slow your wheel when the gears engage further slowing your bike down via the mechanical limitation of the gears. This serves to slow your bike and reduce your rear wheel speed. It also means you can down shift closer to neutral for when you stand so as to not rush thru the gear changes. You should be mapping your stop point and applying engine braking throughout the time to the stop point because this will force your instincts to be downshift, feather brake, engage rear wheel, downshift feather brake engage rear wheel. This more linear stopping power will help you avoid slides, glides and rear wheel losing traction.

If instead you rely solely on braking power your bike has a ton of trouble overcoming it's kinetic energy and you are likely to have a wheel slide depending on traction of the place you are riding

Tl;dr: use the engine for a safer brake and shorter stop distance without risk of traction loss
>>
>>28901238
Based just got a carb and throttle cable to swap into my old girl that's been riding rough (and blew up her engine, thanks garage mechanic previous owner)
>>
>>28901218
It's not about up/down shifts, its about engine speed (rpm) vs rear wheel speed.
Rev matching will never destroy the clutch, its the best thing you can do for it.
The wear comes from the mismatched speed between engine rpm and the rear wheel. The clutch has to bring those 2 things together, the further apart they are, the worse the wear.
Engine rpm at the right spot in relation to gear position and wheel speed = everyone is happy.

More of Harley's bikes have modern styling than have vintage styling. You probably aren't aware of the history of motorcycle styling in America and its development, so to you they all look the same, when in fact there are major differences over time.
A better question is "why does Harley only make cruisers?"
Well, I wouldn't call the nightster a cruiser really, it doesn't have the laid back, feet forward ergonomic, and the pan america isn't a cruiser, but they do sell mostly cruisers.
Why do they sell mostly cruisers? Like it or not, thats mostly what Americans want. You may well ask "why did Ford stop selling compact cars to focus on trucks and SUVs?" The answer is the same.

I am not HotWing, I am ColdFeet. Slightly taller than him but our leg inseams might be the same

Want to write about that seat and how much I love it. I've been through like 4 seats before this one. Saddlemens and Le Peras. The worst one I bought was the le pera maverick daddy long legs. It sends you back, and the foot controls are usable and I had pullback risers and all that so it's not like I was hunched over or in a bad position, but I found out that when you sit that far back on a cruiser, It starts to handle like shit. This seat pushes me forward by 4 inches compared to that, and 2 3/4" compared to stock. For long legged guys, this is a no-go but I have a 31" inseam, built like an otter, so it works. The side benefit is that the stock position of the lowrider st Mid controls is actually a little bit forward. People spend a lot of money to move those controls back to "true" mids. With this seat, the controls are effectively in a true mid position. It handles better, I no longer need pullbacks so I just installed straight risers again for even better handling, and it cups me great during hard acceleration. I love this goddamn manlet seat. Makes the bike handle as sporty as possible.

Is there anything i can do to make a V twin not rumble violently in idle
>>
>>28902045
>nice to see someone still using craigslist in 2026
I think I've picked up a couple of bikes off of craigslist.
I use all of the classifieds, but I don't really buy much. I think it's a disease or something like that.
>marketplace
>craigslist
>cycletrader
>offerup
>ebay
>racedezert
>racingjunk
>auctions
not BaT or cars and bids. I don't like their interface

Yeah, they're in a pretty sad state. I'd like to save that ZRX1200.

You should try one of the new (2018+) Harley’s with the Milwaukee 8 (M8) motor. Much, much less violent at idle. Also faster, and more fuel efficient, and of course more expensive.

Me personally, I enjoy the violence

Because our fearless leaders decided we all needed 500lbs water cooled 800cc bikes with ABS, traction control, and an echaust with a catalytic converter inside that runs hot enough to fuse hydrogen atoms just to be ride on a public street. Never again will we return to the days of a tr6 tiger desert sled being considered pig fat at 380lbs for a 650cc twin in order to hold a line on the sand.

Honda doesn't want you to buy one bike. They want you to buy a Crf300 and an Nx500 or Transalp. If they just made what riders are asking for, a slightly more highway capable CRF 300 Rally (350 or 400 Rally?), nobody would buy anything else. At least, that is probably their thinking.

There is no perfect "one bike" solution. The inherent nature of singletrack two wheeled vehicles is that their geometry, mass, and power creates a narrow resonant speed frequency where the is no real "do it all" design. That means several bikes are required for optimal performance based on the riding conditions, on and/or off road.

For me, it’s the croozer/dual sporp combo. No distance is too far, and no trail is too rugged. A third bike would be nice, sure, perhaps another literpeter, but I don’t have the time or money for track days, so what’s the point

Harley + Yamaha is truly a match made in heaven

Im shoomers and being 5'11 and 200lbs makes me king of the manlets
But when im not barefoot and have my /dbt/- approved ROFLstompers of astar tech7s anchorbabied to my smelly feet, then i graduate into chad status and instantly mog everyone as 6'1
Gorbos stay mad
Leg extenders keep coping
Bask abd seethe when my night foot bootfucks your ass, and when i stand upon my crf450rl footpegs, the lowering kit isnt even noticable necause im taller than most car roofs and i look down upon everyone who isnt in a lifted 1 ton
We must all respect the 1 ton dirty diesel bros
Picrel, how it feels to wear tech7s as a manlet, but king of the manlets otherwise

I don't see Honda Supercub being sold officially in my country anymore. It was there, but they probably removed it because it had ridiculous price tag and nobody bought it.

Pic related is the only Lowrider I have these days. I love it, and so long as it’s running and in one piece I don’t need anything else.

Chodeglide is going to be disappointing. It’s a big huge expensive bike, and every time you go to a gas station some old jig is going to ask you to hold $5. Even after you get it, you’re gonna have to sink in another $5k just to make it halfway decent, and even then you’re just getting started.

You could go with an M8 Road King, but even then, it’s not going to be fast, nimble, and light on its feet like the softail lowrider S.

Why not just keep what you have and continue customizing it? Whatever you think it’s lacking in, it would be cheaper (and cooler) to customize and fix the issue. Hell, you could take the tins off and paint them and it would be a whole new bike.

That’s where I’m at with my Dyna now. Im just going to keep making it more better.

I did say that. Can you post the Road King, Anon? I haven’t seen it, and would very much like to.

>>28902228
Gotcha. Bad ass. Personally I’d go with the black but I dislike any white vehicle. Reminds me of a work truck.

I totally get it, those cubs are bad ass. I’d park one in my garage in a heartbeat, even the original non-adventure version.

I wish there was more experimentation with two-wheeled transport. Since it's creation everything that doesn't look like a standard 100y.o. motorcycle is being actively hated on.
