I bought my first car. Peugeot 307 2001 with 50 000 km on it. My dad checked everything at the dealership for 1 hour and said it felt like a new car. I made a thread 2 weeks ago or something, asking for help and you guys genuinely pointed me in the right direction. Thanks, bros. It's a comfy car.
>>28902336Who the fuck around here told you to buy a Peugot from 2001? Well regardless the first car is either a big mistake or your first love all over again.
20 year old car with that little miles on it could be trouble. I'd have bought a 10 year old car.But I almost bought a similar one (208) with just slightly more on it. So I think for a first car that's perfectly fine. You won't give a shit if you total it, and that's the best part of driving a shitbox. Enjoy
>>28902347Low amount of miles doesn't equal better? I really enjoy the car so far, comfy af on highway. My dad said I should clean it whenever it gets salt on it and stuff from the roads because that leads to rust
One former coworker got one against the advice of every single person in the company, managed to drive to work exactly once and the car was relegated to become outdoor storage on wheels Everything broke down, from the turbo (the car was 2.0 diesel), through the fucking rear hatch struts and electrics 307s are an extreme gamble
>>28902368There is this belief that a car also takes a hit from not being driven enough. Suffice to say, a low mileage car is almost always better than a high mileage one but you can't escape the factor of age either.
>>28902368Some stuff starts to fail over time regardless of mileage. Plastic and rubber components dry out, become brittle, and crack. Hoses can start to leak, wiring has it's shielding degrade and can cause shorts.
>>28902336#07 gen was a low point for Peugeot, but as a first car it's an alright all-rounder.You will have to accept that if something non-critical breaks, its gonna be left like that.
20k miles is basically just break in
>>28902339i know it's funny to shit on peugeot, especially with how shitty their recent models are with the puretech having oiled belts and the diesel ones having adblue problemsbut those older ones are pretty decent, both the diesel and the petrol onesthe ocasional issues they have due to age and mileage are also typically easy/cheap to repair and theres plenty of used parts available
>>28902336You need to find out When the timing belt was replaced
>>28902336kiNOOOOOOOO
>>28902336My dad has one of these but with over 200k kilometers, diesel, with the weird engine almost none of them uses, so far is standing the over 20 years the car has, but if we're real here, that shitter has had several times what it costed my dad to buy already in reparations, he bought it with like 9 years for 5k€.
