>Porsche has patented a dual mode shifter that lets drivers switch between automatic driving and a realistic manual experience using software driven simulation instead of a physical gearbox
>The system uses shift by wire technology to recreate clutch feel, gear resistance, and H pattern engagement while still operating like a standard PDK in automatic mode, inspired by Koenigsegg CC850 but designed for wider use across future performance, hybrid, and even electric models.

Sounds very gay.
>>
holy shit lol
>>
poser shit, but still more legit that toyota 'patenting' port fuel injection as revolutionary tech
>>
...or just use a real manual?

Riced the fuck out and still auto only with mcdonalds, get a 350z
>>
>>28902556
Shut the fuck up wrenchlet, they did that shit to make di viable long term, it's not some ricer dream come true where you can buy a slushbox and tell everyone it's manual.
>>
>>28902601
>you can use it as a manual
>you can also use it as an auto
Best of both worlds and you're still complaining
>>
Can I fuck up the car if I miss shift in the manual mode
>>
>>28902628
Instead of investing all the r&d to get this ricer dream working why not put bones on the car? How about a metal engine? How about 2 more cylinders? All you ricers want is LEDs, fake vents, plastic engines, McDonald's struts, and most of all, the pinnacle of ricer desire, an automatic that looks like a manual. Kys

Dude it's literally a racing sim shifter lol what the fuck do you think

this company just keeps getting gayer and gayer.
>>
>>28902360
Flappy paddles were the goat. People complaining about them resulted in the gay shit we have now. We could've continued with clutch less sequentials had people stopped crying.

>w-w-who cares
That's what the fuck I thought wrenchlet. Next time you see engines transmissions or tires being discussed you don't post. You can post in all the other led and glue on wing threads.
>>
>>28902558
They’ll be a thing of the past very soon.
But thanks to Porsche the spirit will live on
>>
>>28902849
A ricer like you would settle for this type of gimmicky bullshit kek
>>
>>28902639
>why not put bones on the car?
There are cars that win races on maccas. They won't replace their suspension just because an anon from /o/ hates it.
>How about a metal engine?
Idk what you mean by this. Compared to Ferrari and Maserati, Porsche is considered a very reliable car.
>How about 2 more cylinders?
First, you can't put a really big engine behind the rear wheels cause it would pop wheelies. Second, it's not 2005 anymore, euro brands can't just put 8-12 cylinders in every premium car. Third, 911 has a tradition. It's a rear engined car with flat 6 that looks like a smashed and slammed Beetle. They make flagships that break this formula like Carrera GT and 918 once a decade but they aren't called 911 for a reason.

Fag shit. A linkage is better.
>>

oh wow, will it pipe synthetic engine sounds into the cabin so i can have an Authentic Motor Driving Experience (TM) as well? thats heckin' coolarino! wait until i tell everyone at the craft brewery about this fellow redditors!

you get raped by Porsche daily, brown son.
Best remember that.

>There are cars that win races on maccas
The problem comes from the fact the car was designed to be as cheap as possible, how the fuck do you expect a member of the elite to sit in some McDonald's strutted rental with a plastic engine? There's no chance lol.

This will literally convert manual fags to auto. They will find themselves using auto more and more. They will also see their auto times are faster. This is perfect
>>
>>28903813
>want to use auto more
If you're a shiftlet and you somehow landed in this random new Porsche for some reason, perhaps. But this is not why nonNPCs buy Porsches, to get an auto that shifts hard sometimes
>>
>>28902360
sounds gay also slower than a mustang

retard.
there won’t be any manual transmissions left in the near future.
Your options are no clutch and no stick at all, or a fake one that operates and feels the exact same as the real deal, even on an EV.
>>

>there won’t be any manual transmissions left in the near future
No shit that's why men are humiliating and ridiculing trannies like you at every turn. Remember that you are the problem, you are gay and all the shit you're into is retarded, cocksucker, wrenchlet.

Fake is always worse than none. A fake shifter that you suggest what gear to be in is just a figet toy for driving. All of this engineering effort that no one cares about. People who want a manual won't be satisfied, and people who are happy to have the automatic don't care if the fake shift mode feels real or not. Companies keep putting effort into faking things that need to be real or not bothered with. Like fake shift points on cvts, just defeating the advantage of a cvt, running at optimum. The Honda prelude which has a special mode where the engine connected to the motor revs and makes noise to simulate shifts. It is all fake, for a fake audience, but enthusiasts won't buy it, and everyone else don't care.

I have driven the Ioniq 5 N and its fake DCT is indistinguishable from the real deal. It’s a major selling point

if manual truly does no longer become a factory option there will likely be a cottage industry of manual swap kits as long as tremec is still around, and they don't seem to be going away any time soon.
The only issue i can see would be getting hands on donor cars to build templates off for pedal boxes, crossmembers, LHD and RHD etc. but you cross that initial hurdle then it's mostly smooth sailing after, especially if the kit doesn't require you to measure runout. Generally the first person that makes their kit as close as possible to a straight bolt-in swap will score the most customers.

>>28902360
I'll just get Miata at that point.
