There isn't a competitor right now but there definitely will be at some point. I wouldn't hold out for an EV version from Ford because the lightning did so awful.I wouldn't expect anything to be much BETTER than the current maverick, maybe Toyota will release one that's slightly more powerful with an updated hybrid drivetrain, but that doesn't mean the Maverick is underpowered as a hybrid right now. Mav is already simple as it is and it's pretty generous as far as what it does have, the infotainment is way better than honda or toyota shit, much bigger screen with less bezel less lag etc
You can get a Silverado with steelies and i4 new for like 25k

Honda has the best steering but the engines are slop they jew you on features and sound deadening, and the design is kinda old and colorless. Toyota Rav4, the "new" one isn't really new and the engine is even worse than the Kia. Chebby Equinox has a nice interior, I think usually they get rated as having good touchscreen interfaces, but the engine is slop. For most people a small hatchback is very practical and there's a reason it's the top market segment behind full size truggs.
