>companies could make a literaly all situations perfect transmission with CVTs>we can't have that because the mindless consumer gets confused by the constant rpm>and the troglodyte car enthusiast demands his shifty feely
>>28903030Just take the fucking bus. Leave life to people who enjoy it.
I am a muh feels absolutist, but I would still drive the piss out of a turbine powered car with a CVT that holds the engine at peak power and varies the gear ratio rather than engine speed.
I've never felt a better transmission than a planar gear cvt. Just instant power no lag, just takes the transmission out of the equation like a video game. Press pedal all the way down and get 100% engine power until you stop without windup
>>28903030Go ahead and show me the CVT that can hold the torque of a Hellcat and not shit its guts all over the pavement. I'll wait. When you realize you can't, you can go back to huffing your own farts like the Prius driver you are.
>>28903030Hey retard, virtually every CVT ever made shits the bed before it hits 100k. fuck you and your retarded transmission design for jews and women.
>>28903127Oil lasts a lifetime, at least as far as the CVT goes. Please make CVT an America only thing, we don't need more of your issues.
>>28903104>people havent made it>that means it isn't possibleWe can't put drones on Mars! It's 1950, the technology doesn't exist!>>28903127Steel belt eCVTs are good for at least 250k and a belt change is hella more easy and cheaper than trans work on an auto.
>>28903030What if:Full manual transmissionServo-driven shift stick...
>>28903102But what's the fun if you're not doing anything? Where is downshifting to 2 to turn your car into a beast before overtaking and then upshififting to 3 as quickly as possible to get back to your lane? Where's the satisfaction of gradually upshifting from 1 to 4 at perfect rpm and then downshifting for perfect engine brake?
>>28903155>eCVTsdon't these last so long because they have a take-off gear which takes a huge load off the belt?
>>28903030>muh shit bee tee though!fuck off
>>28903030They also don't fucking work.
>>28903185Only the Toyota ones.
>>28903185What belt are you referring to in an ecvt? They generally do not have belts. Or a launch gear. Maybe you're thinking of toyota regular cvts, that have a 1st gear
CVTs found their place in ATVs, UTVs, Snowmobiles, scooters. Literally any other application can fuck off.
ECVTs have almost NOTHING in common with CVTs. Completely different thing and ecvts generally last longer than all other automatic and manual transmissions... They are very simple
>>28903429that must be the one. not very familiar with the different types of cvts.
>>28903104>340 lbâ‹…ftIt can easily be upscaled for Hellcat use.
>Nissan owners
>>28903030I'll stick to my cool cars that are enjoyable to drive, and you stick with your Nissan Sentra eh?
>>28903030What's the purpose of the AMT having a yoke instead of an output shaft with splines?
>>28903707it's probably still splined but whoever got it out to take the pic left the yoke on it for reasons
>>28903030My '25 Civic daily driver doesnt fake shift at all though anon. And yes its not the hybrid so its an actual cvt in there.
>>28903180This guy gets it.
>>28903030you know what infinity better than any mechanical transmission ? a fucking generator coupled with electric motors classic manual gearboxes are what sports car's drivers want, everything else should be an EV with a Ice range extender if needed
>>28903557The CVT would be the size of a 747.
>>28903030snowmobiles, scooters and to some extend boats operate at fixed rpm. but not in cars, as long as its not a converter 10speed then its suddenly ok.consumers are stupid, manufacturers know what gives best mpg, acceleration and reliability but consumers dont want that they demand control over something they dont know how to control and thrn blame the manufacturer for making it bad.
>>28903180how often do you shift? i drive a slow ass diesel transit, 6 speed. once i hit 60kmh i never need to leave 6th i can do hours of driving even towing and through roundabouts, still dont need to shift. 50 to 150 in top gear no matter what load you haul. where is the fun in shifting there? its tuned so i can see you shifting down 3 times just to overtake me but i can just in 6th floor it and make it hard for you while not spilling my coffe.i usually dont let people pass because they will slow me down later, they will be doing the shifting game uphill when a normal working guy in a van just vant to lug it up without downshifting.
>>28903050I like this post.
>we can't have that because the mindless consumer gets confused by the constant rpmthe shit you people come up with about what goes through a normies head is incredible
>>28903823I shift very often cause I drive in a city very often. I upshift to 5th at 70-80 kph. And I rev pretty high while overtaking, I upshift to 3 at 75 and 4 at 100. The highest speed when I've ever touched the stick was when I upshifted to 5 at 120 for faster acceleration on highway.
>>28904933he's not wrong at all. the reason cvts have fake shift points is because people who had no idea how cvts work bitched about it
>>28904960must be some ancient boomer wisdom.nu engines work efficient over a wide band, reving the engine is faster than adjusting the tranny,
>>28903730>classic manual gearboxes are what sports car's drivers wantNo they don't. That's why they don't make sports cars with manual transmission anymore
>>28905014I read a lot of dumb shit on this website.
>>28905019automatics had worse fuel economy up until a decade ago, so buying one in a high fuel price country was a retarded decission (as they were also more expensive to buy). Now the positions are reversed and it turns out everybody is tired of that stick fiddling
What if we put cvt in a bike? After all these things have very peaky power curve and their engines aren't too powerful to put cvt on them
>>28905078Ge the fuck off my internet
>>28903436much better packaging, too.
>>28903180I've driven a manual for many years and I do not find anything about this fun whatsoever.
>>28903102Wait until you get behind the wheel of an EV
>>28905078
>>28903162that was the standard for years in semi trucks, look up the eaton automated transmission.
