You can have fun playing with the shifter because lord knows the engine isn't exciting. If you're going automatic anyway then you might as well get a mustang. all cars depreciate, but a manual will always have a motivated buyer on the other end if you don't plan to keep it until you die. get oil changes, follow the service intervals in the manual, and keep the paperwork. traffic is a non-issue unless you have a disability

It really is a dog, much less power than with the manual and the transmission is so slow to respond that you really have to shift it manually anyway. I'd do it again if I had a spare manual transmission lying around and got it for $1500 than a real miata would have cost.
