I'm pretty sure my car will fall into the category OP is talking about. The first and foremost is by not caring, because you genuinely enjoy and love the car you have. Because it's expected cars that are 15-20 years younger will be faster. The same goes for someone who owns cars from the 50-60s that were among the fastest in the world at the time. I'm pretty sure they don't care either and a lot of people would look at their cars with envy and wish they'd have them/get to drive them. Simply because of what they are and the experience they deliver. If all you care about is it being cheap and 0-60's/drag racing. Then there is no point for you, if that is all you care about/enjoy in cars/car culture then you go follow that path because the others are not for you in terms of ownership. For example i'd never own a G80, I can't get my head around the big sniff, I hate the lifeless electric steering and feel, i'm not a fan of turbo'd engines in how they deliver power I prefer linier and how it mutes the engine, so an NA or Supercharged is for me. I'm also sick of all the new tech, I wanted something that felt more oldschool. No keyless entry shit, nagging lane assist, electric tachs/dials or big screens that take up the entire cabin. Will the G80 be cheaper to run on basic things? Yes it will, will it be more reliable? Well with electronics overarching on everything and dominating all modern cars it might be or might not be more reliable. We all know that fixing anything electronic on a car is hideously expensive just to diagnose the fault. But a BMW can rack up a hell of a bill quickly as they aren't some basic cheap shitbox. It's about what do you enjoy about your car/other cars and what you get out of it, why care otherwise.
