what’s the consensus on quick jacks id like to have my car (or friends cars we’re working on) lifted up but i rent my house and dont want to go drilling into the concrete of the garage for a short 2 post setup
>>28904706I like quick jacks too, but I need to take a shower afterwards or I just feel sticky for the rest of the day
>>28904706trackbros that have them love them. they're quite heavy though at 35 lb each from memory, at least for a lanky nerd like me.
>>28904758>35 lb eachSo one in each hand. What's the issue?
>>28904768>What's the issue?that you still haven't gotten onein all seriousness, it's just a mild inconvenience more than anything else really. a first world problem.
>>28904792> a first world problema manlet problem* the rails in the op are like 110lbs each btw
>>28904794>5'9"fuck ya got me there. yeah looking it up again cuz i forget how heavy they were. the 3500s are 62 lb each
i want some but i dont like spending money
>>28904792aernt they like 1400 bucksmy damn car was 1200
>>28904758>35lmao, the HD model was 100lb per side. We weighed it after I OHP'd it because everyone thought it was too heavy.
>>28904979they are but if you don't have a full hoist it's apparently worth it>>28904993fugg. really glad now that i'm friends with a wrenchbro who's planning on getting a hoist in his garage, straight up told him that i'd happily chip in for it
Love mine
>>28905025bro, the heavier half (engine) of the car should be the side you orient the labels on the jack towardyou get the extra strength of the triangle created by the locking bar where you want it most
>>28905025How much did you pay?
>>28904706I have mixed feelings.Quick way to get the car off the ground for things like oil changes and tire rotations. But they also block a lot of area under the car.Making it hard to work on certain things. My friend got a 2 post lift setup installed for $5,000.Those quick jacks are $2,000 a pop now.Hard to justify that price to be honest.
>>28909148They're for brokies that can't afford property. Can't install a lift if your landlord won't allow you to drill into the concrete.
>>28905025These always look sketchy as fuck to me.t: engineer
>>28905028Show me which half is heavier on a 50:50 mate.Stickers to the back so I can reach the hoses. Cant reach the hoses from the back with the diffuser.
>>28908045$1044 to the door on a random February sale last year, apparently they brought in a new tier.
>>28905025People actually get under cars supported by these things? Looks like a slight nudge sideways would rip the bolts out of the pig metal.
>>28909260It is the same as jackstands
>>28904706Friend works on his cars with a set he got used and loves them
>>28904706I'd trust a solid set of jackstands before I trust a quick jack. I have, actually, I had one of my shitboxes on all four jack stands with the wheels off for a month at least and I was working under it almost daily. I don't see crawling under one of those as convenient, or safe by comparison. It also looks like it blocks a lot of the area you could otherwise use to crawl in and out from under the car. It's not like it lifts the car significantly to the point where it gets anywhere close to being equivalent to a proper "lift", too. People act like those shitty HF style ratcheting jackstands that barely lift 1' safely are the only kinds out there.>>28905024I don't see how these are worth anywhere close to $1000+ compared to some jackstands you can get for $200 for all four (with 6,000lb capacity on each individual stand, 24k lbs total by that logic), plus whatever cheapo standard jack you use to get the car on those stands.
My garage is 8 feet ceiling height so I can't put a lift in. Feels bad man. But I'm only ever going to do oil changes and tires so ramps and a jack is probably fine.
>>28909257>which half is heavier
>>28904706If you're like me and your garage has zero head height or actual space to put in a proper car lift, having your project 1 meter off the ground makes all the difference when you're doing welding or bodywork down there, got a set for my Capri project and used it for about 3 years while I was working my way through disassembling the entire body. It's been stropped to the rafters now but that Quickjack was definitely a good purchase.Old photo, but for spaces like mine there's no reason not to get one
>>28909642also forgot to mention, no drilling required - just set it to where your jacking points are, stick the rubber blocks underneath them on the QJ and raise the thing up.If you want to be real sure, you can set up some long wooden blocks underneath and use a spirit level to check but if my relatively ""level"" wooden plank shed floor can handle it fine, your concrete floor will have no troubles.
