The shitty chipboard door panels, the retarded failure prone climate control, the idiotic hatch harness that literally disintegrates and shorts out, the pinched bottom of the doors with rubberized trim that rusts out before anything else on the car, the busted ass wiper linkages that rub on the hood, the map lights that stop working, the double lock system prone to getting stuck, the window regulator clips pulling off the glass...I would consider owning another one if it were mint and a 6 speed V8 car, but such a thing only exists in the realm of modded cars. The M20 cars were laughably underpowered, the M30 is alright but is a boat anchor unless you want to turbo it, the M50 is just a tad better than the M20 but I've never had an M50 that didn't leak from the valve cover even with new shit. Probably because of the piece of shit magnesium valve covers.

>>28908033Yeah E34 525 wagons are about 1/2 the price of E30 wagons in the same condition, but that's probably only because we actually got E34 wagons in the US unlike E30s. The downside is that you have to buy a 540i or M5 to get better performance than a 325i and a 540iT is gonna need a manual swap ($4k+ with today's transmission prices and good luck finding a 210mm LSD) and an M5T is $40k.

I get that you have an E34 and like them more but I've owned both an E34s are way more trouble. They basically never have climate control or wiring issues and everywhere they rust, E34s will rust too (sunroof, battery box, rockers), but E34 doors rust out and that's rare with E30s. I've never had a wiper problem with an E30, for example, and I've never seen an E34 that doesn't have a mark on the hood from wipers rubbing, and if it doesn't leak down an E30's AC will work and its heater will turn off fully, E34s wind up with stuck on heat, faulty IHKR/IHKA modules, broken stepper motor mounts, all the time. The most annoying problem I ever had with an E34 was the heater valve refusing to seal so the heat was always on fucking with the AC and blowing out of the foot vents. Rebuild kit didn't fix it because the coil was broken, junkyard unit broke too, cheap aftermarket didn't seal properly, rebuilt it with the initial rebuild kit and it sealed a bit better. Couldn't afford a genuine heater valve at the time.
