I dailied a shitbox e12 based (early) '81 633CSi in high school, back when shitbox e24s were a thing. They were still rare but pretty worthless.
Later on when I got an '81 Mercedes 300D I realized how comparativelt shitty BMWs are built. Especially the interior. Plastic, plastichrome, etc. I guess that's to keep them lightweight and sporty. It was truly a night and day difference back then.
