toyota rav4 2003 2 liter 150 hp>P0420 cat efficiency, CEL on>no power loss>passed emmision testis the downstream o2 sensor cooked? volt readings are maxing out and bottoming constantly, extremely twitchy. from what I read the aftercat sensor should give smoother readings than the upstream one.Should I just put a spacer and call it a day? I cba buying a new o2 sensor only for it to tell me my cat is fucked
Why you toyota a broken? What happen?
>>28906339Odds are your cat actually does have poor efficiency which is why the downstream is mirroring the upstream. Either that or you have a bad ground.
>>28906341its not mine its my stepdads, he doesnt know shit about carsalso it has 260k km, and its on its second engine lmfao
>>28906348so my best bet would be to get a spacer for the downstream so the CEL goes away?the car barely gets driven, maybe 5000 km a year
here is a closer look
>>28906356more
>>28906350Yup, that's that goyota reliability
>>28906339>Not my problem
>>28906339Had this issue a few months ago. Your catalytic converter might be failing. They have to be over 95% efficient or you'll get CEL because tree huggers are insane and the regulation makers are communist. Mine failed due to a stuck PCV valve and a worn out sparkplug that was misfiring was allowing unburned oil into the exhaust stream which fouled the cat.
>>28906339Torch the fuck outta the downstream O2 sensor. Make glow to clean.
>>28909387You need to take better care of your stuff. I should replace my spark plugs too.
>>28909415Funny you say that, I thought I had replaced them a couple years prior when I had changed the ignition coils troubleshooting something totally unrelated but apparently forgot about it after it ended up getting the head replaced under warranty at the dealer.
