Welcome to 4chan's Offroad General - where high ground clearance meets low IQ. If it hasn't rolled over yet, you aren't trying hard enough. Post your 4x4 trucks and SUVs. This thread is for the guys who actually leave the pavement and have the broken CV axles to prove it.Previous thread: >>28815324
why not just buy one of those humvees that can climb up a wall and call it a day
didn't want the thread devolving into a discussion about the woman in the OP so i had to make the thread early
Haven't gone in a while. I did learn my truck can hold 31 bags of wet bark and a bag of rocks. With some room for more. Was still off the bumpstops. I should probably wash it at some point. The dirt protects the wax which protects the paint.
last camping trip i did with the boys we ended up drinking too much and didnt do any wheeling together, kinda each did out own thing. was sorta gay but all the wives were there unfortunately
>>28909346because every humvee you can buy has been put through hell and back by a bunch of 18-25 year olds that don't give a single fuck about them and reached a point where the federal government has decided they're not economically viable to keep running
>>28909431what bumper is that? what winch do you have with it?still wondering if i should install my lift kit this weekendmy rear spring hangers still havent shipped so i could do the frontori could do the front and rear and reuse the factory ubolts then when the hangers come in, take them off and install the ubolt flips and rear hangersdecisions decisions
>>28909613Winch is a warn 10klb VR Evo with synthetic rope.Bumper is a warn 100044 semi hidden kit. It installed nicely and isn't obvious unless you love for it. I went with synthetic rope to save weight and since the rope is buried in the bumper it doesn't see sunlight unless I pull the rope out. I also put in a relay so the winch isn't on unless I flip a switch. It has a wireless remote so I wasn't sure if they synced them to the winch or if it would be like old RC cars with the cross talk interfering with each other.
>>28909614>love for itlook for it.
UPDATES:Got one coilover installed todayi failed to measure hub to fender, so i really wont know how much lift i havei will say i had to step on the LCA with pretty much all my weight to get the new coilover in the lower hole. surprised me a little.anyway, i had two casualties, i punctured my hub cap thingie with a screwdriver because im a retard. i might want to get another one, or ill probably just pick up jb weld or rtv or somethingi also maybe fucked up my tierod end. couldnt get the fucker off, and i was beating on it with the castle nut on because i didnt want to fuck up the threads, and fucked up the castle nut instead, necause im a retard. so now theres some random flared nut on it, with some blue locktite, @80ft lbs. i should probably at least get another castle nut, what do you guys think of this tierod? i also did the needle replacement on my front CV and changed the seal. tomorrow i will finish the front, and think about doing the rear, even tho i dont have my rear spring hangers yet. debating weather i should do that or not.
>>28910369
>>28910373
>>28910369I would get a replacement castle nut and a fresh cotter pin.
>>28910494i just ordered 2 new mevotech tie rod ends. $80. fuck it, might as well replace both before i get an alignment, and then that one tierod start getting slack in it soon down the road. at least this one is grease-ablethey make these tierod sleeves, theyre like 100 bucks tho. seems like a nice upgrade, but im not sure if i need them, im only running 33s.
>>28910369bruh you have king coilovers and you can't spring for a hub cover? lmao
>>28910500oh, noice

>>28910500Buy 1 or 2 spare rods and throw them in the trunk for trail repairs.
>ask o if I should put a locker on a 2wd or just finance a 4x4>boomer on o tells me all you need is good tyres>hit my first uphill, unmaintained forest road with brand new at's>Tyre immediately spinning and stuck in the same place>reverse and go home in shameWhat 4x4 is worth buying outright? I got 8k USD
>>28913299Just buy an S10 blazer for like $2k. Harbor freight winch for another $500. Aftermarket options for LSD or locker.
>>28910373I personally wouldnt have mounted the reservoir like that.I would have flipped it and ran the hose along the top of the fender well above everything.
>>28913391thats the correct way to mount iti understand where youre coming from, but that top fitting doesnt swivel and the last thing you want to do it unscrew it and let all the juicy gassy goodness outi did get done with my lift saturday nightit is sooo much better to ride on, its not even funnyit is so goodbuti have driveline vibration nowi have measured all my angles, and i think i know how to fix ittoyota has a two piece driveshaft which complicates things a bita few things: there should be no more that 3* of difference in between the yoke and ujoints, ans there should be no more that .5* between all the working anglesyou find your working angles by measuring the yottom of each yoke, then subtract them. Spin the youke off the tcase flat, measure that. Then spin the driveline until the ujoint attached to that yoke is flat, measure that. Then subtract the numbers, and you have your working angle. Do that for each connection, in my case I have 3.the first joint off the tcase was like, 3.1, the one off the carrier bearing was like 3.4, but the one headed into rear axle is like 7.1. That one is the problem child. The solution, I hope/think, is to install a 4* shim under the axles to bring doen that 7.1 to about 3ish, which makes all 3 angles close to .5* of each other, hopefully solving my issue. I might have to monkey around with the carrier bearing and stack some washers under it, but that will be nbd.i have a 4* shim and longer bolt kit on the way, along with some ubolts. I have to clamp up the springs, take the middle bolt out, and install a longer middle bolt, then put the shim in, and ubolt everything back together. Super not looking forward to that, but it probably wont take too long, and it needs to be done.tires and rims are ready to be mounted, hopefully i can do that this saturday, maybe friday if i get off work early.might let them do the tierod ends so i dont have to fuck with it. Ill see if they will do a high caster alignment also
>>28910373i actually forgot to put the covers behind the resi, on that side and had to take it back off and install it again. and i forgot to install the anti sway bar alsooopsie
>>28913299prerunners are 2wd, and they have plenty of funlockers are great, unless youre really getting into hairy stuff, you can do a lot with 2wd and a locker.look into helical LSD, about half the cost of a full locker, and they are very useful. Theyre better in the rear, because if you get a wheel off the ground, you can ride your brake a bit to get them to lock. Also, try a bit of your handbrake, it might evenly distribute the torque next time you start spinning.

>>28913299locker is literally essential for any actual offroading. essential. from what ive seen on this board it's mostly larping overlanders. 2wd with locker will shit all over a stock 4wd, it's incomparable.
>>28913672Is LSD good enough?
I'm thinking about buying a set of these for my AWD Suzuki Swift. Is 175 too narrow for 6" wide wheels? I'm thinking about debeading risk when I air down for sand. Should I even bother airing down a tire that's so stiff it's basically a run-flat? Will I hate my life driving with these tires?
>>28913631lmaoits going to be like the new blazer
>>28913342I actually want these but all I see are listings asking for 7k+. Kind of a lot for such an old car.
>>28913845What's your craigslist region?
Got me a project truck. Got tied of that old eco boost i had.
>>28913899The last good F-150. I think 11th gen looks better than 10th, 12th, and 13th gens.
>>28913905I'm not a fan of the 5.4 3 valve. Also this truck does need a lot of work after the last guy cut up the wiring harness. I'm just waiting on parts to get here to fix the wiring and do a full tune up.
>>28913911Did many of them come with the 4.6?
>>28913939Im not sure on that. Mine is the XLT 5.4
>>28913896Pnw
>>28913947Everything is so expensive now. This isn't a bad deal though. You get a solid front axle with these. I've only looked at Seattle craigslist, if you're closer to Portland.
>>28913947Actually I like this one better
>>28913947High end of the budget and automatic, but still cool.
>>28913947One of the more expensive Blazers available, but very clean. Top trim level too. Nice interior.

>>28913560>let all the juicy gassy goodness outDude. Those aren't gas charged shocks.Thats an oil reservoir. The shock uses valves. The dampening effect is from the oils limited ability to move through the valves.

Just bought this baby for $5k. Gonna pour $5k-$8k into it to get it road/trail ready. 3in lift kit/suspension from Japan on the way since its the only one I could find to fit.
>>28914309What other upgrades does a Jimny JA22 need? Ive read they are prone to overheating so im flushing the radiator today. Once suspension/lift gets here im going to get some steelies.

did 4chan go out of business?
I like the Isuzu Trooper and the Mitsubishi Montero :)
Here's to the one year anniversary!!
Just bought the Land Cruiser last night lads. Peep the mileage
>>28913694good enough, no probably not, especially if it's oem lsd. but it's better than nothing. jeeps used to come with trutrack and they were pretty shit, idk about the new ones though.

>>28915168If all the VINs are there youre good.If VINs are missing its down to the discretion of some desk jockey
>>28915083I just had an Eaton TruTrac put in my 94 2WD F150. Definitely better than the OEM open, but that might just be the increase on the ratio I'm enjoying. I keep reconsidering selling the truck and finding something with 4x4, but mine isn't in bad shape.
>>28915093Electronic rearview is great, you get the immediate rear perspective of the car and can see way more behind you. You can also turn it off and it’s a normal mirror. Why does this make you seethe so much?>>28915167Thanks, it’s the Underground color with the squared headlights which I think theyre discontinuing this year. Very happy with it, it has all the factory features I wanted. I will still add skid plates, maybe rock rails and a roof rack

>>28915388It looks good, seethe
>>28915407nah. it looks like a soft boiled egg that got mushed into the side of a container. likely drives like one too.
>>28909340i have a 2010 ford ranger sport 4x4. I want to get a LSD, but i cant pin down the exact one i need. Seems like I could either have 28 spline or 31 spline. Do I need to take the diff cover off and count or what? I get mixed answers from ai vin lookups.
>>28915382apparently, its super easy to put 35s on the new LC and Tacomas. Not so easy at all with 3rd tacomas. they do make 35x10.5 c rated toyos, or maybe just 285/70 or 75s would look pretty dang good on that truckgetting tires and rims put on tomorrow, tierods came in, and the stupid shim that may not be right is showing up on saturday if the government workers at usps dont fuck me
>offroad thread>posting cars & truggslmao guys, lol, very funny
>>28915411Theres a tag on the diff housing with a part number you can cross reference. They dont always get put back on older vehicles but yours is most likely still there.
>>28915432I looked but couldnt find a tag. I will look again and see if I can find anything.
>>28915481Its most likely a 28 spline, vast majority of 8.8 rangers came with 28s
>>28915521Almost always.Unfortunately anon has a Sport 4x4 which is the highest trim level so if anything DID have a 31, that would be it.You used to be able to tell by the hub flange but I think that's changed. This might help.Tl:dr31 spline used for torsen.Open and friction plate style lsd got the 28https://www.therangerstation.com/tech/how-to-spot-a-ford-ranger-fx4-31-spline-8-8-inch-axle/#gsc.tab=0

>>28915686Perspective can cause pics to be misleading but id say thats a pretty drastic taper so safe to assume small bearing/28 spline.
>>28915729I'll always be 2smoke4life but this isnt 1982. 4 stroke race bikes have surpassed 2 strokes. The only place 2 strokes are really necessary is trials where every ounce counts.
>>28915744you post like a truly cringe homosexual
>>28915735i just realized you have 18s. he has ridge grapplers on that build. looking at the toyo page, theyre probably 285/75, which is a 35" e rated tire, or maybe 285/70 which is a 34. not sure if youre going to find a true pizza cutter which is like 255 in a larger than 33 sizei would be very hesitant to get that camberg ucas. It has heim joints in the rear, which are great. But they use a larger ball up front, which in theory is a good idea. But any ball joints weakness is the bolt that actually goes through the spindle. So big deal it has a bigger ball. Forged is really not needed either, and 2k for ucas is a bit much imo.i did accutune, they valve the shocks to whatever youre doing. theyre in socal down there somewhere.
I wanted to see an overlook today and was told by the ranger it was theoretically drivable but it is mainly used by ATVs but the second I got on the dedicated road for it there was that extra thick chunky gravel that I hate so much, not the biggest rocks in a road ive ever seen, but top 10, went about 1/2 a mile and turned aroundwould have been maybe 30-40 minutes more going 8 mph crawling to avoid busting my tires open otherwiseI got all terrain tires but they are at highway pressure and I haven't bothered to get a system to lower them for rough roads and really this wouldn't have been worth it and the view wasn't that amazing judging from pictures but I still was disappointed my "off road" kia couldn't do it, I mean maybe it could have but im a wussy. It did ok otherwise on the gravel roads with the all terrains. I got chunkier ones than it came with (old: bf goodrich geodrive, new: falken wildpeak at4w)the steering is still slop and really unconfident on loose gravel that's probably the worst part but that's not so much the tires, I don't lose grip its just hard to feel where the car is through the wheel >>28915746im gay
>>28915388Based luddite
>>28915382>Why does this make you seethe so muchNot so much seethe as>It was a perfectly fine mirror, why make it a camera? At least until you mentioned that it can become a normal mirror.
>>28915382>Why does this make you seethe so much?Nta but this is textbook bloat for the sake of bloat. Its social engineering. Slowly make these things "normal" so the transition to transport pods doesnt cause an uproar.
>>28915750Thanks for the lore drop. Im coming off of a 2008 2 wheel drive Ranger, driven since 2007 and everywhere offroad I can. I don’t know any of this shit concerning upgrades quite frankly, it was never worth upgrading my ranger besides putting Wrangler tires on them and slightly better than oem bilstein shocks. The ranger handled everything basically stock

>>28915816>Fucking seethe you heathensi didn't say it was good nor bad. i just thought it was dumb if it didn't have a failsafe option (which it does). why are you getting so butthurt lol
surely there must be SOME way to swap to non-oem coil springs for a better ride on a kia crossover
>>28915840It'll always feel like shit offroad because it's unibody
>>28915862ive never driven a trugg so I can't really say for sure, but it seems the main issues are how numb the steering is and how it jiggles a bit over loose gravel esp. on an incline, you just can't feel where the wheel is placed and its not confidence inducingand the coil springs feel like they barely absorb bumps at all if the stupid road was just normal dirt instead of GIANT FUCKING ROCKS I could have done itI see broncos on the road all the time and they look way less spacious and I bet the ride and steering are even worse
>>28915669>Sport 4x4 which is the highest trim levelThat would be the fx4 level II and even those only had 31s for a few years iirc
>>28915926Correct.But for 2010 I believe the sport was top trim.

And I live in central FL where there are tons of them and they haven't suffered from being in the rust belt. I bought one that's pretty clapped for $2k a few years back and considered it a good deal though it's the Cherokee of Theseus at this point.
>>28916313this was sitting on the street with 10k cars passing it every day and it sat there for weeks, no rust and the interior was perfect, 1 ton steering and nice new tires on it, saw another one that was more stock recently in the same area for 1800, I've never seen one for more than 3k

The ranger emailed me back about the shitty rock-strewn road. He tried to deflect and say the problem was ATVs damaging the road, or my SUV not being fit enough. NOPE the issue was your people putting coarse gravel on this road so only ATVs can use it. >>28915840

>>28917917yeah its a 12v compressor. you can mount them permanently to the car, lots of people do that.as for built in lithiums, i've seen people use them, some kind of ryobi thing, never looked into it desu, not sure they'd have the juice to pump up decent sized tyres x4.

>>28917917>that seems tedious if it can be avoidedI put an anderson conector underneath the front bar which is connected to the battery via a fuse. Compressor has a cable long enough to reach all 4 tires. That way I don't need to open the hood every time to air up. Works very well. IMO next best thing to having a compressor permanently mounted and wired up in the vehicle somewhere.
>>28917798>go look at a tyre companies website and see what tyres they recommend for sandWe just do it different here in America kiddo
Returned to my blazer and found out I had been brutally mogged

>>28918145>>28918194Believe it or not, the sign of a good sand driving car/driver/tyre is NOT throwing huge rooster tails of sand 30ft in the air at all times.
>>28918180Kek how does it look so much bigger
It's a start.New bumper is in the mail. Gonna get one of those faggy rooftop tents after I get a bed rack.God I love Oregon.
>>28918338Why not just sleep in the bed? The bed is more than big enough for that. Hell I do in a 5' bed although I have to sleep diagonally.
>>28918345nta but I am 6’3” slept in my ranger’s 6’ bed with a tonneau cover on it, in the rain.Yeah i’d rather pay $1000 for the “FAGGY” rooftop tent
>>28918345I'm 6'5" and 300lbs, so I want as much space to sprawl out as I can. Plus I still plan on using the bed for truck stuff occasionally. The aluminum truck toppers are both too expensive and too restrictive - you lose most of the usable area of a truck bed when you install them, and the area left doesn't lend itself well to getting dirty. The canvas soft topper + bed rack gives me plenty of capacity for a tent + gear and I can still chuck over one ton of payload in the bed.
>>28913899Yeah let me just do the plugs and coils... This was the driver side

>>28920229It was more about the Kia being covered in dust to prove I spent a buncha miles today on narrow dirt roads, not this segment of it being bad. I took this cuz I thought it was cool that a dirt road just turned into a paved road. This absolutely was not the worst part. I'm not going to park in the middle of the road, get out, and take pictures of ruts.

Muh spring hangers finally showed up today.I have the axle shims also, and I'm waiting on some steel plates so I can chop my cab mount and burn them in this weekend maybe
>>28921292if they're weld-on, why do they come coated?
>>28921292Theyre bolt on. i have to cut off the old crap mounts, and drill the rivets out, then bolt these on. i have to cut part of my cab mount off so my -25 offset 285s fit my retarded toyota. then i have to weld in some little plates to cover it up and make it look pwetty
>>28921311oh a 3rd gen tacoma.i would get a different truck before i did all that to mine
>>28921313you lack ambition
>>28921311>Cab chop for 33s boy are you retarded. if you're going to go through that much shit at least put on some 37s or something
>>28921314no i fucking don't
>>28921311>and drill the rivets out,Get a $15 air hammer from harbor freight. (You do have an air compressor right?).Cut a cross (+) in the head of the rivet with a cutoff wheel and then hit it with the air hammer. Head will crack off and rivet will pop right out. No damage to frame or old mount. Takes less than 30 seconds per rivet.
>>28921316le sighthe UCAs i got claim you can run them without rub in 285. i think the backspacing they used was -10. I dont think 0 offset wouldve cleared the uca, thats 4.7 backspace, they wanted at least 4.5. And my allignment wasnt the best, all they gave me was 2.3 caster. It shouldve been 3+but the -25 offset really killed me, i couldnt find anything i wanted that was in stock at -10 or -12, so i had to choose between -25, or -38. Its more poke that i want, but it does look good.>>28921316id have to do a cab mount relocate and different fenders for at least 35s. idk about 37s. #rd gens are very hard to fit rubber under. The 4th gen is pretty easy to fit 35s tho>>28921318i have read/watched multiple people say little tanks and cheap guns wont cut it. I have some cobalt drills, i dont think it will be awful, just tedious.
>>28921325different fender liners i meant. i maybe trim the fenders for 35si dont really plan on 35s anywaythey do look nice tho
>>28921325>little tanks and cheap guns wont cut it.Bullshit.I literally just used a harbor freight air hammer with a 2&1/2 gallon pancake compressor to pop some rivets. It takes less than 2 seconds. The other 28 seconds is grinding, switching tools, trying to get in a comfortable position...I will never drill a rivet again. That shit sucks.
>>28921330thats something to think about. im going down to my boss shop this weekend to use his welder. Maybe i can just use his shop for all this. Im work in the logging industry, he all the stuff i could use. I put the rest of it on in my driveway, so it can be done without a shop.
>>28920142It's not that they can't, it's that they shouldn't. Mainly because their owners are...problematic.

Little fucking bastard rivets
2 or 3 coats of steel it after I cleaned up the frame, with some orange flavor loctite, to 85 lbs.
>>28924247How long did the rivets take?
>>28924247iktf, still trying to muster up the patience and courage to drill out 4 M8 bolts with snapped off heads(so I can then re-tap the fucking holes, all while lying upside down in my driveway)
>>28924827Just do one a day. Comfy wrench.
>>28924829>comfy wrench>rust and metal and oil splattering your face while trying to cool the bit upside down but the cutting fluid just keeps running backwards down the bit making a mess of your fucking drill and hands and you have to stop every 2 minutes to see if you're still plumb or making an angled hole into the bolt etc.Nigga it will be anything but comfy. Was considering buying one of those super heater bolt loosener things but they're like $600 for a good one and it probably still wouldn't work. I just have to accept that to live in Onterrible is to suffer every day.
>>28924827AHHHHHH!!!!!!!
>>28924843Fluid film is the standard treatment for any new parts I put on it, slowly cycling out shit that is rusty and trying to prolong its life. Frame is getting wire disc'd this summer and sprayed for sure.
>>28917297how do you avoid hydrolock?
>>28924849Just use a snorkel and diff breathers. Sealed exhaust with a top side vent if you're super concerned but normally there's enough backpressure to force water out if the engine is running.
>>28924840Yeah it's going to be a pain in the ass. Just get drunk first.
>>28924827Yeah I just paid a shop $100 to do that exact job on mine. Last owner just welded those on after snapping the bolts.
>>28924867The headache is I need to get them off to mount a rearward skid plate I bought. It uses these existing bolt holes to hold it on. This stuff is nice when you have a clean or new vehicle but it's anything but bolt-on after +10 years of driving around. If they prove to be niggerish I'll just pay a shop to do it, skids were relatively affordable for how good they are.
Ok, I got my hangers and shims in today. I'm about to quit, it's getting dark here. I need to torque everything down, but I'll do that tomorrow morning I guess. Took me all day, but I got it done. Took about an hour, plus on the passenger side to drill the rivets out. You can't even air hammer 2 of them out, there welded on the back. I'm pretty traumatized by that still
>>28926363fuck railhead detail

>>28926977No because she's just a beard. Justin is gay, his actual wife was fucking a surgeon behind his back for years and he did nothing about it. Then she left him. He's with Katy Perry because he's a fruitcake bitch who likes girly pop music. >>28926979Torch was my first attempt, I even used oxygen vs. propane. I think the bolts themselves have basically fused into the threads of the frame to create a new form of matter. They're one piece at this point. Canadian winters literally transform parts of your car into parts that never existed when it left the factory. Ontario has a big automotive manufacturing sector and they purposely over-salt the roads with rock salt and those liquid salt brine trucks to rot and rust out vehicles faster than normal. This means buying new vehicles, fuelling the economy and keeping the autoworker unions happy and voting for the correct party (that mandates over-salting of roads).
>>28926991Jesus christ.Im so glad my shit is from the desert.
>>28927352I dont count wrenching outside of the rustbelt.
I’ve got a 04 wrangler with those aftermarket tube fenders and I’m going to install 3/4in turn signal markers so I don’t have bulbs just hanging out the sides.I was wondering if any makes a socket with wires coming out the end? It’s so I can build my own harness with the 3/4in lights and not have to cut out the factory connector.Pic related looking for what’s circled but with exposed wires instead of it being one unit
>>28927438Im.not sure if the adapter youre looking for exists.Maybe just take apart that light housing and make your own (?)
>>28924845>cycling out shit that is rustyidk I hit rust with descaler and afterwards just soak everything with cheap phosphoric acid based rust converter 2 times a year.don't have stuff like fluid film in my shithole so idk how that works. for painting rusty parts I do use some american stuff, corrtec corrverter and it works great.

>>28909340I live a day trip away from the Rubicon, but also have a 30min commute and have always been a sportscar guy over a truck guy. But my car also needs to be able to handle heavy snow.Recently I've been considering a Wrangler but I just don't know if it's for me. My primary purpose would be something I can car camp in, but also a comfortable commuter that has decent on-road handling. I currently drive a CX-30 turbo and it's great for on-road handling, but obviously lacks the offroad capability. Should I get the vastly different Wrangler and have great offroad capability and give up that sweet on-road handling? Or go somewhere in between maybe with a Subaru or Rav4 and lift it to have at least decent offroad capability? I've never needed to rock crawl to get to a decent campsite but it would be cool and allow me to reach more places.
>>28928448Also best gen of Wrangler to get? The LJ with i6 tickles my fancy, but not sure if there's enough room to lie down in the back. 4xe versions are also dirt cheap and the fastest Wrangler ever made, on top of beinf good for my commute/daily driving, but will it blow up?
>>28928448>currently drive a CX-30 turbo and it's great for on-road handling, but obviously lacks the offroad capability.get a cx50 turbo, which will probably be bigger enough to car camp in, will have AWD so you can stick meme tires on it, and it'll still be more fun to drive than a subaru or goyota
>>28928448Just rent a wrangler off turo for a couple of days and see how you like it.
>>28928453After owning a Mazda I'd never buy another one. Way too many issues right off the bat and fake warranty they don't actually honor. I've had a few Toyotas and they only have early suspension issues and their CVTs are garbage. Unfortunately the new Rav4s all have CVTs so in my experience I wouldn't expect them to make it over 120-140k miles before serious issues with those things.Subaru is just too damn slow. I got the CX30 as a stand-in for a Crosstrek because the damn things are just way too underpowered. There doesn't seem to be much compromise with crossovers these days, they've all gone to shit. Totally goyed out because that's what their market wants, or is willing to put up with. So maybe I have to go full Jeep/truckfag to get something uncucked.
>>28928456I did that and drove it over a volcano in Hawaii while it was raining. Stock model with road tires and it did alright. Slid and crashed once but probably my fault for going too fast down a slick muddy hill. Only made a small dent on the bumper they didn't even notice. I did not like how you can't see over the hood. Everywhere you drive the big long stupid hood just sticks out in front of you. That's something I hate about all trucks and truck-based SUVs.
>>28928461Just buy a 4runner
>>28928458Rav is still going to be incredibly boring and probably won't take well to big tires, but their cvt is actually reliable, since it's a rare planetary instead of belt design. but yeah if you want a jeep because you think it'll be fun, go ahead. fun matters
>>28928465>too big>can't take the roof offGay.>>28928466My '15 Prius I used as a commuter bug had a planetary CVT that didn't make it to 80k miles before constantly sounding like it was going to detonate. The batteries went to shit around 100k miles too. Really don't want to touch Goyota anymore now that they're pushing towards entire models being only hybrids with CVTs.

>>28930202I was drunk posting and meant a 35 so the universe is still in balance.Theres a hybrid Ford TTB that runs a 35 housing with a 28 carrier (anything to save a buck, right?) and they're still on the road 30 years later.Theres actually this weird combo on Ford Dana's where the 35 spindle shafts have a larger diameter than the 44s so running Ranger spindles/lug pattern on F150 TTBs is actually the strongest combo.
