Should i get a 2-12nm torque wrench? What applications does it have?

I'm sure there's some 4 million dollar hypercar with windshield wiper bolts that absolutely must be torqued to 7.8559996 Nm, but for everything else just snugging it up by hand is good enough

I use one in that range to do the valve cover bolts on my VQ engine, since they have some insanely low torque specs.

Required for adjusting the tension on the ball-drive of SN series Paxton superchargers.
Only thing ive ever used mine on in 30 years.

I have one (it's in inch-pounds, since I'm from Freedomstan) that I use exclusively for setting preload on pinion bearings. I rebuild a lot of rear diffs for C/K trucks, so it is a necessary tool. It's one of those tools that you rarely need, but when you do, it is necessary to avoid destroying whatever you're working on.

We talking 1/4 drive or a screwdriver torque wrench?
Both are useful for tiny stuff.
A bunch of the bolts on my LS1 are super low torque values.
Otherwise I'll meathead and destroy threads.

Arn't you supposed to use the torsion beam ones for axles?
Idk, I've rebuilt a single GM 10 bolt.
It's noisy but hasn't exploded after 50K miles

n52 engines have single use aluminium bolts that hold shit like the valve cover (early models) and oil pan
they need 8nm

Yeah that's the style I use. If it's noisy, pop the cover off and check it again with your needle gauge. Something is off if it's noisy, unless you have a truetrac or Detroit locker, and even then they're fairly quiet.

It's for bikefags so they don't snap their carbon dildo holders

always good to have just know how to read it. i spendt a weekend carefully drilling out a steel bolt from an aluminium head since my dad snapped an injector hold down bolt down there. it was supposed to be torqued to 7nm, he tried to reach 70nm having misread the handle.

I was told Motive orange Box gears are noisy.
