Imagine living in one of these dystopian shithole states.

Only if they're registered with classic plates. Just stop being a poorfag and pay the full registration fee.
>>
Is it just if you have the historic or collector tags? If so, couldn't you just register it with normal plates again?
>>
>>28913521
Older cars have poor crash test ratings. Metal was softer before 1983.
>>
>>28913532
Skill issue. Just don't crash.

Yes
>>
>>28913521
The bill failed.
But idk why states are so butt hussled about classic car plates.
>>
>>28913543
Historic and collector tags have minimal taxes and are supposed to be limited.
In my state it's always been that historic tags can only be driven to shows and exhibitions, not even to the grocery store.
All they have to do is register the car normally and they can drive all they want.
>>
>>28913521

Classic cars have no business being in the rust belt anyway.
>>
>>28913521
how does life feel like when you only read headlines and never look into things? do you understand how gullible you have become?
>>
>>28913521
>heritage vehicle rules
so basically just run regular plates and you're a-ok again?
>>
File deleted.
>>28913539
congrats! you're qualified to drive a classic vehicle, then.
>>
>>28913579
well yes, rules don't apply to me
>>
>>28913521
Only for classic plates. Put normal plates on and you can daily it and no one will care.

Don't respond to the faggot, just ignore them. They so desperately want to be frosty but never will be.

not in many states. they're purely cosmetic in some
>>

>yeah just keep paying the government hundreds of dollars every year for 50, 60, 70+ years to use your property. Effectively paying the government an annual tax, adding up to many times over the purchase price of the vehicle.
When you're so far gone you see no problem with this system. Sad.
>>
>>28913532
How does a motorcycle fare in a crash? Should we ban those too to save the children and teenage pregnancy from global warming white supremacy?
>>
>>28913532
The very rigid frames of old are what got people killed anon, a modern car saves your life by crumpling to shit and redistributing crash forces, I've seen fatal old car crashes where the car isn't even that smashed but the driver's dead because they didn't know how to make cars that deccelarate you

>Effectively paying the government an annual tax, adding up to many times over the purchase price of the vehicle.
I just registered a '98 a few months ago. Cost me under $70 total to register and my annual fees plus ad valorem are going to be something like $12 a year. Idk if other states are different but older vehicles are cheaper to register to the point that the collector plate is pointless.

burning your money for heat would be a better use LAMO

Cara prior to the 90s were so garbage the government knew you couldn't realistically use one as a commuter and avoid the debt-usury system our country runs on. Now that a 2001 Corolla is a classic and can run 750k miles without issue while avoiding usury and registration fees it's a big problem for the state.

Boomers crying about it are basically admitting their old cars are trash.

>All these words to justify 40k+ and hundreds in taxes for a shitty modern car.
I spent $4k on my car this January. $65 to plate and register with normal ful-tax reg, it'll be $12/year in taxes and fees. My old man just spent $1,600 to register his new truck and it'll be $500 each year.
Oh yeah and it's reliable, parts are cheap, I can get a full set of okay US/jp tires installed and balanced for under $500. Headlight? $10, twist the old one out, pop the new one in. It's pretty awesome, and it's RWD manual wishbones, why spend multiple times more on something I would enjoy less?
>>
>>28913753
>older vehicles are cheaper to register
in my shitass state the tags for my 1988 and my 2019 are the same, and expensive as fuck, like 200 bucks for one year or some shit
>>
>>28913837
In mine it starts upwards of $2000 / yr for expensive new stuff and after 30 years or so yearly fees drop to zero. Odd in a very red state but I like old cars so I'm not complaining.
>>
>>28913522
go register a twingo as a non-classic
retard
>>
>>28913521
>Illinois
>$150/year registration, not tax-deductible
>classic/antique tags only intended for use in parades, driving to shows, etc
>emissions test every other year, no exemptions due to age unless pre-OBD2 or alternative fuel
>>
lmao, buncha' pussies not already using the Montana LLC loophole. lmfao.
>>
>>28914147
kek, have fun getting dragged to jail by the locals to save a few hundred bucks
>>
Except driving classic cars ALREADY IS limited to car shows and clubs. This would have allowed regular driving on weekends
Boomers shot themselves in the foot.

Because some people have multiple times more money than you and want to spend it.
>>
>>28914547
That's the thing. They don't.
I got the exact car I wanted, I spent months looking. RWD, manual, wishbones, lsd. $4,000. And I've had one before for a decade so I know every bolt. Can't complain about that.
No debt, no financing. In fact, I'm 100% debt-free baby!
All the extra money I earn can go to other things, I can quit my job if I want, I'm not tied down. That's freedom.
When I see a new Merc SUV, I don't think "daaaaamn, she's rich," I don't think about it at all. This whole culture of going into debt for things you don't need is [a reason] why our economy is in shambles.
>>
sorry they're closing the loophole that lets you register your 30 year old Altima daily as a historic vehicle
