My dad died suddenly and I inherited his SUV. He got a nail in his tire and instead of replacing his all seasons he put on winters. Now it's spring and I have to get a new set of all seasons. It's my first car so I don't really know anything about anything. What makes a tire good? Is there any difference between a cheaper tire and a more expensive one?

And don't be scared to have an odd pair, ideally you want the front pair to be the the same and the rear pair to match.The only other thing to really consider is to go all season or get a winter+summer, but that's conditional to your weather patterns.Best thing to do is drive up to the shop and tell them you need a set of mid-range all seasons, a reputable garage will normally have a selection of tiers and offer you the choice (and not necessarily the same brand, for example they might stock Goodyear economy, and Bridgestone mid).
