Help!Previous oil change was done at one of those 5 min places. Feels like they welded this thing back on.>tried right-sized socket, rounded edges>tried spiral extractor and it completely butchered the plug>hammered on smaller extractor and nothing budget>vice grips just spin around and shave off more metal>used 2nd vice grips to tighten 1st vicegrips on it, same thingI'm at my wits' end.
>>28917518Use grinder to clean up sides to get a set of flat spots and apply vice grips again.
>>28917521this. grind two flat sides and use a beefy pair of channel locks.dont over do it, that bolt has very little head left, you can potentially break the head off.if you have an impact, after grinding both sides flat, try a socket that fits and on low setting do a few impacts in both directions.
>>28917521I'll try this.ty
>>28917518Subaru? There's a TSB (02-189-22) to replace the original 14mm drain plus with one with a 17mm head because of this. The new one's part number is 32195AA021.
>>28917521>grinder to clean up sidesTHIS.If this fails, then have a machine shop weld a 3/4 inch socket to the bitch, then use breaker bar if required.Send a letter to the Manager of the Oil place, just as an FYI to train his technician.
