Has your taste in cars changed throughout your life?
Not really.Got into cars with Gran Turismo 3 when the PS2 came out.I still like cars from every manufacturer, and I still prefer manual compacts as small as they can be.The only difference is I used to like all drivetrains, now I only like RWD.
I followed the "every lower-to-middle-class white guy" progression path. 4 cylinder 4 door to V8 coupe to off-road SUV. We're kind of like Pokemon and our first car is either a Neon or a 90s Silverado and you're kind of locked in after that point
Nah not particularly. I always had based tasdes
>>28917720I care more about interiors and creature comforts now that I'm an old fart.
>1995The only car ever is the Corolla>2000The only two cars ever are the Supra RZ and R34>2005JDM tyte bro>2010Actual swirling torrents of pain and misery>2015Older cars are actually cool>2020Converted race cars are the true experience>2025Take me back to 2000 again
>>28917720the older i got the more i realized that quiet, stock, automatic transmission cars that offer utility and don't have stupid addons are better
I've started to like these more as I got to my mid 20s, I didn't like them at all before then. It looks like a pretty new car even though it's about as old as I am.
>>28917768Damn you got me.Silverado->avalanche-> MB C300->F150 & a chally rtKeep it trashy San Antonio

>>28917888>>28917895what gives. i'm here too.
>>28917884I hated the e60 when it came out but modern BMW is so fucking wack that the E60 has aged really well.
>>28917906It's aged really well comparatively against most modern cars imo.
>>28917720>growing up in 80s>like american muscle, jap shitboxes, rolls royces>now>like american muscle, jap shitboxes, rolls royces
>>28917720kid: cars are cooladolescent: these specific cars are cool, these other cars SUCKadulthood: all cars are beautiful machines in their own way and everything with wheels has a story to tell and should be cherished (possible autism)
I quit benchracing. I quit pointlessly bolting mods onto my vehicles. I became more of a luddite with regards to technology and creature comforts. I quit caring about the exterior of my vehicles very much and prefer not having to care about signs of use and light damage as long as the interior is clean. I will forever love simple, stripped down, low power econoboxes and manual windows.
>>28917720as a kid, pap's old van was the coolest thing ever and I really wanted a 2011 grand marquis, as an adult the van is still pretty sick and the crown victoria is close enough
>>28917908yeah

>>28917720I've pretty much come full-circle. I loved old classic cars growing up. My favorite movie was The Love Bug. I fell in love with all the old muscle cars and 50s and 60s iron, and I really wanted a GT-350 Mustang as a kid, or a C1 Corvette. In high school, I fell in love with 80s and 90s BMWs back when they were cheap as fuck. In college I began to prefer the cheap-as-fuck exotics (i.e. then-15-30 year-old Aston Martins, Rolls Royces, Bentleys, etc.), then through law school I got curious about JDM weirdos. Now that I'm actually making money, I sowed some wild oats. Bought a few JDMs. Bought a 1970s Midget. Still driving 80s and 90s BMWs. Figuring out how I'm gonna get some 50s and 60s iron, but out of space.
somewhat. I was a muscle car fan when I was young and I still like them, but as soon as I got into racing my views shifted
>>28917908The sliding scale of incredibly ugly German automotive design.
All roads ultimately lead to Porsche.
>>28917720i've kinda gone full circle actually>thought 4x4s and pickups were cool as a kid, my dad had a CJ-5 and an isuzu 4x4 pickup that i loved riding in>first vehicle was my dad's old XJ, lifted it and put 35s on and spent most of highschool mudding with it>got a 90's tacoma as my first adult vehicle, was my daily, did some light offroad/camping with it, it got totalled when a teenager accidentally pit-maneuvered me on the highway because he was texting>2nd XJ, mostly daily, intending to turn it into a offroad rig once i got an economy car, but got a good offer on it and sold, switched to civic si coupe>had some fun with that car, slight performance upgrades>all of my jobs were distribution/shipping, drove tons of different commercial vehicles over the years (cargo, vans, pickups, HD trucks, etc)>civic took a shit at 320k miles, hadn't thought much about cars until then>got a 2018 WRX, nice car but too new for me and had some gripes>got a 2009 outback, been driving that since and keeping it maintained, really enjoy driving and working on it>developed an interest in offroad again lately, and have become obsessed with land cruisers (especially 70 series pickups, but i'm american so the import situation is insane and i don't know if i want to go to all that trouble and money for one, so i'll probably get an 80 series)
>>28918035I used to like the exotics and v8 only. Now I’m 40 and won’t give up my Honda. I only change oil and time is a gift.
>>28917720yes. when i was young i thought any car with an automatic was an npc car, and new cars in general were out of the question save for a select few. i dailied a miata for almost 10 years but once i started to run out of the free time needed to maintain it and started to grow less tolerant of the lack of comfortability, i started liking newer luxury cars more, so i bought one. I'll still probably never buy a fwd car though.
>>28917720I grew up deep in the urban jungle, my first car was a s13, second car fc. I still like those designs but the city is so packed with traffic, driving is a waste of time, like an hour to travel 4 miles kind of bad traffic, so I ride bikes now and don't do cars, skips all the traffic
>>28917720Since I got an EV I'll never go back
>>28917720Now I think retro muscle is a meme. I like Hondas and Suzukis. I can't buy expensive cars, so got into motorcycles.
>>28917720I didn't care about cars as anything else other than transportation until chink AIDS happened and my tastes haven't changed since.
>>28918044Porsches aren't exotics and mostly don't have V8s THOUGHMostly
Used to like supercars then I watched Tokyo Drift and have loved JDM ever since. They're too old now so I just watch videos of them. I like modern car comforts.
Always loved Beautiful, Fast, STRAIGHT CarsMy criteria has just become more REFINEDShrimple asTo use the parlance of our timesSlowfaglet tastelets with gay eps, ipad touchscreen bullshits, and less than 666 horseponies don't fuckin' @ me
>>28917720When I was younger, I preferred cars that punched above their weight by realising their innate potential, like the M3 and the Evo, but as I grew older I realised that there's no car cooler than the Viper. Other cars have to push themselves, but Viper has such insane potential that it can use a fraction of it and still be a top contender whereever it shows up, with no stress.
