A gigantic turkey kicked up on the highway and OHKOed my aging Jeep, insurance says shidds fugged. I've been thinking of getting a 4th gen 4Runner, but would like to know how many milage/Km I should start being wary of them. Also any quirks or warning signs I should be aware of. Trying to keep price close to $12K.
Thirdly, how gay would it be to go with the 4.0 V6? It's hard to find V8s anywhere near me that aren't clapped out, and I don't plan to do much hauling aside from an ATV/Dirtbike when I go camping or hunting.

mileage doesn't matter on these desu,
stay away from the xreas equipped models. manifolds are know to crack on the 4.7L version and they require timing belt service every 100k (interference engine). both the 4.0 and 4.7 are solid engines. v8 obviously superior because v8.

Buy a Tahoe for half the price. It's just as reliable and does everything better.

>half the price
4runner will appreciate in value desu desu desu

Thanks, one thing I've seen with the few that I've looked at so far is that there's a known problem with 'VSC off' warning lights on the dash, but apparently that's a thing on this gen?

They're all going to have 300k+ miles at this point. Toyota or not anything with those kind of miles will need things replaced and Toyota parts are expensive. Also watch out for rust. These are kind of slow, thirsty, don't ride well and don't tow very well. If you're camping and don't plan on doing any serious off-roading I would go with a Sequoia. You will love the extra cargo room and you get a V8. Fuel mileage isn't much worse than the 4.0. They're typically priced a lot lower than 4runners too.

I'd still take a GMT800 Suburban over the two.

I'm actually currently trying to a sell a 4.0 forerunner with 107k miles for around that price. What state are you from?

>v6
Huy the 3rd gen instead at that point
>>

Buy a 3rd gen at any point simply for the looks. I'd rather have a 4 cylinder 3rd gen than a 8 cylinder 4th gen
>>
I would love a 3rd gen v6 or V8 myself. The interior and exterior has soul. But lord everyone wants 12 to 15k when it has 250k+ miles. What the fuck.

Basically what you're going to want to do is KYSS YOURSELF

Yea listen to this idiot. Buy the highest mile one you can find don't worry its a toyota. Never mind the warning light, its just to tell you that the lights are reliable and still work,
