I don’t trust workshops or tyre shops using correct torque values.
They hand the monkeys a torque wrench and they spit out the values after they balance the tireSurely.
>>28920768You shouldnt.
>>28920775No they just lay down on everything with an impact, torque values be damned
>>28920859One dakka dakka or two.
>tyreoops it's retarded
>>28920768Most mainstream shops use torsion bars on their impacts. They don't even use torque wrenches.
>>28920768they dont, they torq at feeling.unless its head bolts, injecton hold down bolts or something its just feel.
>>28920775The monkeys are largely unsupervised
>>28920768If they don't crossthread the studs, you're ahead of the game.
>>28920768When I use my local corner tire shop I'll often bring out my own torque wrench when it's time for them to put the wheels back on and offer to tighten them myself, they never question it since they either assume I'm autistic or have my reasons (both).Any mechanical work that involves taking off wheels, I'm likely doing myself anyway aside from that.
>>28920874More like tighten it until it's loose then back it off a turn.
>>28921237>they never question it since they either assume I'm autistic or have my reasons (both).
>>28920768I don't need a torque wrench for lug nuts I know how far is right with a tire iron, only lug nuts ive ever had come loose are ones I set with a cordless impact.
>>28921787It’s not just the lug nuts but also things like the oil drain plug torque, oil filter torque, spark plug torque etc
>>28920768trust no one, not even yourself
>>28920885I'm fine with this. It's sufficiently low effort that the shop guys have no reason not to use them and the resulting torque is close enough to spec.
