When I drive my shitty Hyundai, I feel like I get tailgated often and just in general encounter unruly drivers. (No i don’t camp out in the left lane or go below the speed limit).
But when I had a loaner Lexus for a month I swear I got far less tailgaters. I honestly feel like other divers respected me more when I was in the Lexus, almost like they were afraid to accidentally hit me.

Yes. People treat you very differently driving a tank on wheels like a chevy tahoe vs a vw golf

the bigger and more expensive it is the more people yield to you

Not when I'm in a miata and filled with underdog syndrome.

When I went from the civic to the vic it was a night and day difference
>>
Yes. People move over a lot more when I'm driving my red 911.
>>
>>28920807
People just drive like shit, doesn't matter if I'm in my miata or the giant super duty extended work van you'd have to be actually, completely, 100% blind to miss.

Ever since I got my 94 fleetwood strangers refer to me as "boss"
It's been quite a nice change desu.

Also the reaction on people's faces are hilarious, they expect this old ancient geezer but suprise suprise its a young man in a land yacht with 20mpg

When I lived on campus in uni ('08-'10) someone that worked at the school had a manual 4WD Civic wagon and they parked it in the same spot every day. It was maybe 100 yards from my dorm and I'd go scope it out all the time. Not sure if I've seen once since, but it was super cool looked like a lot of fun.

in my 67 dodge people often stay way the fuck back. dunno if it's because of the weeping valve cover gaskets dripping oil onto the manifolds, or just because it's an old behemoth of a car or both

Nobody wants to hit a classic. I always give them room

Not when I have the right of way. Richies don't have the balls.
>>
It's the same whether I'm in the corolla or the work trug. No more or less aggressive. People may veer in to my lane a little less as they can see me even without shoulder checking. I'm not completely certain that is the case as it still happens with some regularity in both.

when you're driving some that might be an unmarked cop car then yes i can imagine
>>
>>28920807
Yes, 100%. Although, it circles back. Eventually your shitbox can get so old, ugly, and banged up that you are actually the most feared vehicle on the road. You get the level respect that is reserved for drug addicts that are freshly out of jail.

>whoever is driving that piece of shit is completely unhinged and has nothing to lose, I'd better avoid

Happens with my BMW motorcycle. Lot of people wave. They come talk to me. It feels nice desu.
>>

yeah
>work van others always have to pass me since they assume im slow
i am in downhill twisty roads and some other conditions but im faster than them everywhere else just not enough to pass them again. its all so tiresome.
>go slow downhill bc heavy van
>car get stuck behind me
>once it levels out he pass me and do the speed limit
>i would do speed limit +20 but i aint got the car to overtake so now im stuck behind him for the rest of the trip
why did he overtake me in the first place?
>>
When I had the L plate people would aggressively tailgate and try to overtake me anytime and anywhere and generally acted like I was an obstacle even when I was going at the same speed as the rest of traffic. It just made things unnecessarily more dangerous as they tried to forcefully squeeze in front of me even when there was no space forcing me to brake hard, only to then go the same speed as me or slower.
