EVs should be taxed higher than normal cars.

They don't pay gas tax and don't contribute to road maintenance. They're even heavier than a normal car and do more damage to the road. Why do I have to subsidize these faggots entire existence just because I choose to have a car with a real engine in it that has real towing capacity?

Good news!

Isn't it just heartbreaking to know we live in a world where OP is allowed to vote?

You gonna cry about it?
>>
It should be taken into consideration at least.
Due to the added weight they contribute more to road wear. They need more breaking friction to stop. They require $400/ea tires that only last 1-3 years because of said weight (applies to overweight ICE, too). More braking pollution (maybe including asbestos), more tire microplastics. More tire cores dumped. Blah blah I'm bored.

Regen handles braking well enough that EVs actually have a problem with disc brakes rusting from lack of use.

Yeah I know. OP's premise is pretty weak but I was trying to roll with it because I don't like heavy cars in general.
>>
EV owners should pay higher prices for electricity because they use more of it
>>

>They don't pay gas tax
They actually do.
If you charge at home your electricity is more expensive per kWh because your consumption comes out of "home" bracket.
If you charge at public chargers kWh is like 3-4x more expensive than usual home rate.
You can still offset that with solar panels but for most people charging during the day is not practical, it's the time you need car the most.
Neoliberal capitalism will find ways to extract maximum amount of money from anything.
10 years ago it was different, no power consumption bracketing, most public chargers where free...

>they dont pay gas tax
thats the whole point and why gas is taxed. not to get money but to stop people from wasting it.
>>28921525
>added weight
thats a thing but not exlusive to ev. gravel roads are way worse now and almost constant washboard, 3ton of ev with 45 profile tires will create washboard way faster than normal high profile tires.
>>
>>28921525
>added weight
Not really, similar gas cars are as heavy as ev's now.

Anon, you are very smart aren't you?

What the fuck is the government doing with my $1k yearly rego then?

They (and regular cars) should move maintenance costs into registration - mileage x weight.

Problem solved.
>>
>>28921714
work and utility vehicles like my F150 should be exempt i use my car for actual WORK to get to my job unlike these ev cucks

EVs are jewish. Toyotas are double jewish
>>
>>28921708
Whoa, cool it with the racism!
>>
>>28921829
Yeah, because I should subsidize your business mr shekelstein.
>>
>>28921486
they do.. they pay higher registration fees and renewals than gas cars. Unless you live in some region that doesn't for some reason, then it's (you) problem
>>
>>28921530
Would braking regen stop an EV floating in space? No? Then the forces are still coming from the tire to the ground and yeah a 5000lb EV will 100% cause more wear.
>>
>>28921486
They will eventually be subsidised, but if they were introduced right now they'd kill EVs so for now they won't.
>>
>>28921486
EVs are taxed heavily with extra registration fees. EV "road tax" is added at the registration fees where EV are taxed at equivalent of ~80K yearly road driven gas tax per car.
