I do not get why /o/ hates modern car interiors
The last of the greats have finally fallen
because they're gay and retarded?
I don't necessarily hate screens but it's stupid how much screen there is to convey so little information. In that image there are 3 different screens that show what song is currently playing.
>>28921813I hate being told what I can and can't do with something I own. Tech ALWAYS does this and its getting worse. See: the EQS not letting drivers open the hood.
>>28921813The thing that baffles me the most are the fuckhueg pillars which offers zero visibility and above that there's also the sideview mirrors blocking the view. How are you supposed to see at the intersections and avoid killing people who are crossing the street?
>think the steering wheel is upside down>nope, it has 4 (four) spokesHang yourself, OP.
>>28921895thats rollover safety regulation combined with heavier cars
>>28921921also doesn’t help that they stick an airbag in them
>>28921921The Japanese don't have these problem though.
>>28921813>So called UDM>No display gauge in front of driver for easy assessment of vehicle status>Mazda so called jinba ittai>No display gauge in front of driver for easy assessment of vehicle status
>>28921935Oh wow a 2009 Camry life is so bad this is the best I could hope for
>>2892181399% of people here has never owned a modern car made in the past 5 years. They don't even understand how auto climate control works in cars. To most in this board, that interior looks like witchcraft magic
>>28922212i have a 2023 bmw and i don't think it looks like magic i just think it looks dumb.
>>28922054>No display gauge in front of driver for easy assessment of vehicle statusThere's a projected HUD. Why the mirrors need to be screens is all kinds of strawberries though.
>>28922240screens and cameras are cheaper. the camera is even cheaper to replace. Also 0.01% better in wltp. They save money on the parts and demand a 1000$ charge for the upgrade.Modern mirrors (especially the dimming ones) are really expensive
>>28921813Because I can't fucking feel the button on a fucking touchscreen you ignorant fucking primate. Go crawl back to an African cave where you belong you subhuman faggot. Fuck you.
Poor people generally hate what they cannot have.
If I am paying premium money for a premium brand I expect actual gauges. You give me screens I feel like you are cost cutting and that is not very cash money for a premium brand
>>28922272is that why you hate the Kia K5 you insufficient retard?
Car get iPad
>>28921833FIPPYBIPPYmy beloved UDM… what is happening bros…
I blame China. Their stupid cars sell too damn well so every other manufacturer copies their shit. And I thought China were the copycats
>>28921813It has all the charm of a hotel lobby.
>>28921853Us or the interiors?!
>>28921813I don't hate it, but there are some things I dislike vs the previous gen.>dogshit touch-sensitive buttons on the wheel>physical buttons for shit like drive modes, HVAC, hazard lights, high beams etc completely gone>gear selector is a roller (?) nowBut considering that Merc and VW/Audi have already started moving back to physical controls, I expect the next facelift to be a little better at least.I do think the panoramic instrument display is a neat idea though - hope they keep that one.
I feel like I've never understood "good" or "bad" interiors at all. If the seats are comfortable, there's sufficient knee room, and the wheel isn't made for a martian, it's fine. I have subjective preferences like everyone, but they ultimately don't matter. I have driven new Chevys at work just as much as my own cars for ten years, and with the car off, I would say that the last generation Sonic had a worse interior than my Geo Metro, but when driving, it's all the same. Chevy's use of shiny, silver plastic on the interior is fucking retarded though because it reflects the sun.I've driven fully loaded Yukons and Sierra Denalis, and the only upgrade I actually noticed while driving was the HUD. They stitched a lot of leather to every surface, but when I'm driving, I never notice. My Miata has leather on almost everything my body touches, but can't even tell after two miles on the road because I'm not paying attention to that. So what makes a good interior?
>>28922425both now that you mention it
>>28921813>>28922054where does the passenger side airbag come out?>>28922054also this is just some rebadged chinkshit
>>28922509Honestly I've always felt the same, at least if you also include 'outward visibility' in that list. The actual look and layout is whatever, for me the difference is almost entirely the gauge cluster and related area, where "neat" is better (fun stuff like Saab's old stealth clusters or any car with a modern digital tach that doesn't lag a full second behind) and "why" is worse (mostly night driving things, unnatural backlight colors or lights that sear your fucking eyes because they literally never tested it with the lights off before production). Also, buttons, obviously, since I'm not looking at the rest of the interior 90% of the time. Gimme my three knobs.
>>28921813Because the only difference between my job and new cars is that I don't have a steering wheel in my cubicle.
>>28921813They hate them because they're poors and can't afford cars with high tech interiors.
>>28922509The leather interior of the miata is a good interior because you can forget about it. A bad interior draws attention to itself, either because a function like changing the radio requires you to look at a screen or because the glossy black plastic is smudged with fingerprints. My new car has some kind of fabric on the visors that shows where you touched it every time. Making the interior feel dirty and drawing attention to something that should blend into the background. Car makers now make car interiors that are meant to be looked at in ads and showrooms, and to be talked about by tech reviewers. They don't make them for driving first with design elements that complement and set the tone.We have long had fake tone setting. A vinyl sticker with a carbon fiber print to tell you the car is sporty. A piece of plastic colored to look like wood to tell you the car is luxury. A great interior draws you in guides your hands to the controls, maybe encourages you to get comfortable and play some music and then get down to the business of driving. There has never been something more wrong than automakers putting all these screens in cars and then putting a pop-up telling you not to use the screen while driving.
>>28921813Propaganda from anti-Tesla
>>28922272But I don't want it. If I had this, I'd sell it to some sucker immediately.
>>28922611Here's the question now, would your job be better with a steering wheel or would your commute be less boring if you didn't need to steer?
What can I say, I love my 2023 Kia Forte EX premium interior. It is the cheapest car I could buy (with sub-10k mileage) that had wireless Android auto. And charges my OnePlus 12 wirelessly too. Absolutely a bliss to not have to deal with USB cables in the car. Did I mention that 2 times, people have commented that they regretted buying a Toyota Corolla over mine? >>28921833>>28921853>>28921872>>28921879
>>28922248>He needs to have a physical button to do things in the car, he doesn't know how to use touch input >In 2026Grandpa, let your son's drive you around, you shouldn't be driving anyways.
>>28921833It could be worse.
>>28922729Cherenkov radiation?
>>28922729That's only marginally worse
>>289227303600 RPM, not great, not terrible.
>>28921813I'm car shopping right now and the lot I was at had a W204 C-Class right next to the newer W205 version. The drop in quality was horiffic. The W204 felt like a fucking bank vault, extremely solid yet had a lot of soft tovh points and comfy seats. Materials were thick and soft. The W205 literally creaked when I sat down everything was cheap and plasticky and even with the leather covered surfaces, you could feel the plastic right below. I ran my finger along the edge of the cupholder cover and it was just sharp cheap thin plastic with vaneer. Seats also sucked ass and were hard.
>>28922740Whenever people bring up modern mercedes build materials there's always a few retards who come running to the rescue to say "but theyre the most high quality interiors today!". I figured their knowledge only comes from other modern car interiors.
>>28922742>there's always a few retards who come running to the rescue to say "but theyre the most high quality interiors today!"They do? Mercedes has some of the absolute worst plastic, for some reason they still keep using piano black for places like the center console and scratches appear almost instantly.
>>28922743I've seen it happen in a few threads
>>28922727>justification for buying a car is what would've been achieved with a $100 chink Android auto headunit and a $20 wireless charger hardwired in.How'd you end up outside of Reddit?
>>28922727what the fuck is an android auto and who the fuck cares anyway.
I love Android Auto desu
>>28921813I hate smartphones, I hate touch screens, I renounce satan and all his works.
>>28922272
i just want this
>>28923598Not enough brown for my tastes
>>28923634back in the day you could get the interior in red, blue, green, white, black, and any shade in between. now you can have grey, or grey with beige. fuck this gay earth
>>28921833This looks better than the current gen that has the bullshit tablet behind the wheel. Now that the tablet behind the wheel is gone, I can just pretend it doesn't exist
>>28922727Why are you even here if you drive some soulless shitbox like that Anon? Genuinely curious.
>>28922743I was there to look at a GLI and it unironically had a better interior.
