>sorry sir but that nail is too close to the sidewall
>but we can offer you a new tire for $200+tip
>PS I cannot legally allow you to drive away from the premises with your tire in that condition+tip
>>
you're on the wear indicator anyway dawg.
>>
thats what you get for not taking your tire to a local shop
that is also what you get for not knowing how to use pic related
>>
>>28922280
Why would anyone buy Twizzler.
>>
>>28922260
You forgot:
>Oh you got an AWD. That'll be $800+tip.
If you run tires like that you better learn how to use a tire plug. Otherwise lube up first.
>>
>>28922280
This is the only correct answer.
Feels good to be self-sufficient and independent.
>>
>>28922260
I've never had issues having shops pluging tires.

>>28922411
Subaru dealers will shave tires.
I believe Tirerack will also shave tires
>>
i used to be a tire monkey
whenever a flat repair came in, i prayed it would be repairable because then i could just fix it and send it out as quick a possible
i don't think the techs at any tire shop make commission, so there's no reason they'd waste time trying to sell you a tire

Dont you need to replace at least 2 tires?

As in you don’t want a big difference in tire depth on one back wheel versus the other back wheel for example

It's true, the Tire and Rubber institute has stated that no tire repair can be considered safe unless it includes a face-to-face with a tire salesman.
Meanwhile, the guys who sell goop to the tire shop cro-mags also sell goop to patch up where they grind through the air-seal layer.
Stay safe, boyos.
>>
>>28923237
The techs don't, but the service writer does.

Why did you need to ai that?
>>28922260
Tires bald faggot, you need a new one no shop that actually follows any kind of standards or protocols or state inspection criteria would patch that for you. I wouldn't patch that for you. I'd patch it for myself, but I wouldn't patch it for you. It's a liability

I fucking love rope plugs. I had one in center of tread hold air at 150mph and it only lasted until I hit the belt and decided to change the tire. I literally forgot it was there because it never leaked. Oh by the way I didn't even insert it right, it wasn't doubled over. Rope plugs stay winning
>>
I've never had a plug fail in 20 years. The tire jew is in shambles.
>>
>>28923398
Tire's not even down to the wear bars (unless you are blind)
And with no respect due, I wouldn't want you to patch my tire or touch any other part of my car.
>>
>>28922260
that tire is fucked though
>>
>>28923426
Why?
>>
>>28923386
Not really, tire shops aren't the same as how a dealership is with their service guys wanting you to max out shit. Fixing a puncture is a quick $50 with minimal effort involved so you have time to deal with the bookings that want full sets put on.
>>
>>28923482
service writer == tire salesman == dude in the front office at Oil Can henry's and so on
>>
>>28923426
I mean, not really.
Looks around 5/32 tread left.
No bad wear.
I'd send it.

You're a fucking lunatic bro.

>>28923609
Yes, and people like me find the limit to provide good info for people like you. I almost wish I weren't this way. But it's hard to feel alive when I get too civilized.
>>
>>28923351
Drive axles should always be matching. On a FWD it doesn't really matter what condition your rear tires are in. Modern traction control and stability systems may shit a chicken if the wheel speeds are too far off.
>>
>>28923398
>Why did you need to ai that
wut. that just looks like a stock image
>>28923609
honestly i don't think that's crazy at all. those plugs are great. i had three on one tyre at one point and they all outlasted the tyre.

Yeah, I can appreciate that.

I did a trackday with one in the edge of the tread in re71r's and prob got up to 110 or so in the straights. Didnt have an issue. Also depends if it was a good plug (looped over, only need one strand) or a super sketchy plug (multiple strands or seriously on sidewall). I think theres a spectrum of sketch when it comes to tire repairs but a center tread single rope repair should be very good.
>>

only matters with lsd/welded/spooled diff
>>

>I think theres a spectrum of sketch when it comes to tire repairs but a center tread single rope repair should be very good.
yeah these repairs i had were all on the tread. i just figured people were using these within the instructions that specifically say to not use these on sidewall punctures etc.
