Are these any good? The internet seems to think they are pretty reliable and I like that it is a body on frame relatively cheap 4WD SUV with good towing. I plan on doing some light offroading (nothing crazy just dirt roads). Seems like a good car to do that with occasionally, whilst spending most of the time shuffling the waifu too and from the grocery store and carrying furniture. Landcruiser meme tax has me looking at all kinds of alternatives atm.
>>28922532My aunt had one, lots of electrical issues.
>>28922532They're not bad. Dependable drivetrains such as the M112 V6 and M113 V8, a couple easily fixable ABS issues (windshield washer tank commonly leaks, directly onto the ABS pump), body on frame with a dual range transfer case and these have the opposite of meme tax and are largely dirt cheap. A pretty fair amount of people wheel them, too.
>>28922546Figures. I should probably just stick with the nippon 4WDs.
>>28922532They have plastic eggshell bumpers that crack and explode into a million pieces, and cannot be repaired. but if you're ok with it looking kinda ghetto that's a minor issue.
>>28922556Noted. I am pretty tempted by how cheap they are. I assumed maybe the badge just scared people off but on paper it looks ok. A V8 one would be cool. Suppose I'd need to pack some jerrycans with the fuel economy.
>>28922568They're cheap because they're pieces of shit that will cost you thousands to keep on the road. That goes for any cheap German vehicle. Also you want to avoid anything IRS if you want to do any serious towing.
>>28922532sister had one but it caught on fire and burned down. that being said it was a diesel and at the moment driven by her husband and he was known for not getting the sweet spot and torque rpm of diesel, constantly overreving them then complaining why they suck.
>>28922532Hold RIGHT there. ML is the rudest vehicle full of compromised users. You would be deemed "dangerous person"

>>28922532They're a fairly popular budget option for the Budapest-Bamako rally's 4x4 division. People generally buy the 2.7L diesel. Parts available for Mercedes is pretty good in west Africa, and they handle the sand and bad roads fine.
>>28922532George Floyd had it, so I don't want it.
