Are Kumho or Falken tires any good?
>>28923491The Kumho are a little more burnt-tasting than the Falkens, but neither would be my first choice.
>>28923491Pretty happy with my Falken ZE310s
>>28923491it's a falken tire, what more do ya want?
>>28923517I did a track event and the falken rep had way too much fun saying "these fauken tires"
>>28923532did he have a boston/brooklyn accent? if i were in his shoes i'd be the same lel
>>28923643Ya he had a weird accent which made it "work". Might have been a Boston accent. Or some weird fake Australian/British shit that he had practiced for the act. Idk.He knew how he sounded and thats what made it funny. Well, funny for the first 20 minutes but then it just became some lame schtick.Obviously it was memorable because I still think back like 25 years later and chuckle so I guess it was worth the effort he put into it.
I enjoy my Falken Wildpeak AT4W tires. They are good in gravel although I haven't tested them yet in extreme rain or snow or mud. I think Kumho is more budget, but it should be fine, just expect a little less.
>>28923491i love my falkens. they were the only one that made a tire in the size i wanted while also being both a LT and a C rated tire. they perform great off road. the only downside is they are heavy as shit.
>>28923491Never tried either one but the Falken AT's are shit in the winter from what I've heard so I didn't go with them for my AT's.
slapped some summer kumhos on my C4, they handled mountain toge just fine. theyre no michelins but if you just wanna occasionally do some spirited driving theyre fine.
Ive had both.Asphalt and dirt.Kumho are the biggest pieces of shit ive ever had.>Dodge needs some weird ass tire size for the Vioer.>nobody makes what they need>Kumho says "eh fuck it, we have nothing else going on..."https://www.motor1.com/news/179185/dodge-viper-acr-nurburgring-crash/
>>28923683Not OP, however that's good to know. I was wondering what tires to get for my tacoma when my OEM ones become slicks.
>>28923720the OEM tires were kinda ass. they couldnt take a beating and had a lot of scars before mine went smooth
>>28923831Mine came with the wrangler kevlar reinforced sidewall ones. They've done fine. They did really well in moab for a stock tire. In the colorado san juans they were fine on the rocks. They do squeal like you're really hauling ass even doing 15 around a corner.
My wife has some Falken all seasons on her crossover. They haven't exploded or anything we're all still alive. No idea how their performance tires are
>>28923720Firestone Destination is pretty good if you want a year round AT that's mainly used on roads and can do winter, they're pretty light and good mpgs
>>28923937I was thinking of going to something with a little more capability offroad. The OEM ones are fine for the most part if you air down in the dry but quickly become useless in the wet.Thinking some BFGs K02s or Falken A/T4Ws. A couple other thoughts as well but haven't decided yet since I probably have at least 5-10k before the wear bands. They are already six years old so age wise they are getting close however they don't have any cracks in them yet.
>>28923941K02s are the best for offroad but they are very heavy and will cost you in gas over the OEM. Falkens are in-between the three, with the Firestones being more towards on-road.The OEMs are probably actually pretty similar to the Firestones but shittier (geared towards mpgs and not so much offroading.
>>28923517those that ones they make on the Falkland islands?
>>28923951The OEMs are GY wranglers with kevlar. The lower end trims have a different tire I think. I'm not that interesting in getting better mileage, my truck already gets 15 on average. I'm leaning towards the K02s since I can get them locally. The shops around me don't stock a lot of the choices however maybe I can have them order them in.
>>28923847>wrangler kevlar reinforced sidewall onesi didnt think very highly of them. in my opinion the falkens are a better tire by far in most every way, even on road driving, they did bring down the MPGs by 1 though, not bad for being 3" taller
>>28923960They do ok for an OEM tire. Fine in the dry but quickly useless in the wet. Airing them down always helped a lot. They are pretty wallowy on the road.
>>28923967OEM tires always aim for cheapness and MPGs. The Pirelli "AT" tires that came with my truck are effectively all seasons and not AT tires at all
I've ran Kumhoe Road Venture MT's on the Landcruiser for years, I'll probably get another set
>>28923951BFGs are garbage.Ive had multiple sets delaminate over the years.Im not talking like 1 or 2 dry rotted tires.I mean brand new Radial TAs on the street.Brand new KO2s on the street.KO2s with 10k miles on the dirt.Around a dozen overall. At first it was "well MAYBE there was something on the road I didnt see" (highly unlikely)....MAYBE it was a bad production run...MAYBE theres something wrong with my rim....Finally just said fuck it and sold my last set on FB just to be done with them.Ive ran 15 year old Falkens with no issues. Ive ran Kumhos for a decade until they were hard as a rock and bald.Ive ran the cheapest walmart chink shit until they were bald, bought a new set of the same shit, ran them until they were bald and got a third set.All of that without a even a flat, let alone a tire exploding at 65mph and taking out a quarter panel like the fucking KO2s.Fuck BFG.
my sister keeps getting flat tires from nails on the road. are there any tire designs that aree good for pushing aside such hazards?pic unrel
>>28923491Kumho is gooks BTWKnow what else is gooks? Houndai
>>28923491Falken tires are the bomb, my Sept 2022 installed rear ZE960 are so clapped out and screw lodged in it, but it still holds air and the rubber isn't dry rotted
>>28923683>perform great off road.>posts spotless mall crawler
>>28924295its almost like you can wash dirt off things. also buying a DA buffer helped the shine.
>>28923683>the only downside is they are heavy as shit.Huh?What are they Lead-Belted?Stop with the bullshit, fag.
>>28924634Can't wash the overrated off that thing though
>>28924669if i remember right its nearly 60lbs a tire, in my opinion that's heavy for a skinny 33" tire, also probably the heaviest tire in a given size, for the AT4W at least, been a while since i looked though. the carcass is heavy and stiff as shit. they don't really deform until you get under 15psi. even at 0psi they don't get as flat as i would expect.>>28924669stay mad
>>28924707>stay madI will, thanks....
lol
>>28923491Whoevers name I saw on a race car last is probably the best
Kuhmos suck. I had some all seasons and they felt sketchy in the rain. Just save up and get some bridgestones or michelins
>>28924991all terrain tires are way better for rain, I know they aren't marketed as such, but they are probably cheaper than fancybrand tires and if you get road biased ones like yokohama geolander the deeper sipes help a lot in rain falken makes a less extreme all terrain wildpeak called the trail, instead of the at4w>>28924707my kia has the same tires but mine are only 29inches tall
according to tyrereviews the falken rs820 is a pretty sick tire
