Just bought one for $1700 with 133k on it. How badly did I fuck up?

>Based on common owner experiences and data, a well-maintained 2001 Ford Taurus frequently lasts between 150,000 and over 200,000 miles.

It's probably better than the bus. I haven't seen one in like 15 years so hopefully you can still get parts for it.
>>
>>28923697
Change the transmission fluid and filter, like yesterday.

These are great cars.

$1700 for a functional daily driver, you did fine. Its old; but they made a lot of them so parts shouldn't be too hard to find. That gen of Taurus was pretty reliable. Should be a good beater.

Did you get the Vulcan or the Duratec? Both are good engines to have but the Vulcan doesn't kill transmissions.
>>

The transmission in those is weak and absolutely change your front control arms. If its a dohc v6 check your oil dipstick tube for cracks and leaks to prevent that from becoming an exhaust problem.
>>
>>28923697
Change the transmission fluid immediately.

$1700 is pretty good for just about anything that runs these days, it's really damn good for something as durable as a Vulcan V6. Good job anon, hopefully it lasts you a long time and then you really get your moneys worth

checked btw

I used to work at a salvage yard when those were common. We'd get calls multiple times a week looking for transmissions for them. They seemed to go out at around 120k-150k miles.
