Shame they all have cuckold engines now. Toyota would've had my money for a new Tundra if they'd only offered the 5.7L V8.

They decided to turbofag everything so now they get nothing. I will probably spend 1/2 as much and buy a restored old V8 that gets 10mpg.
>>
>>28924831
They were neat back in the 90's when they were small on the outside and big on the inside. Now they're the size of a 20 year old 3/4 ton with no fucking interior room. They also all ride like shit and get V8 fuel economy. Also why are these called midsized? If these are midsized what's a "small" truck? And by small truck I mean an actual small actual truck, not a crossover with the back missing.
>>
>>28924981
the reviews of the tundra were pretty dreadful apart from the self destruct v6 engine
v8 wouldn't have fixed it
the ride quality blows and it isn't spacious enough
>>
>>28925096
I've rode in the nu-Tundras and they were pretty hard to stay awake in. They're plenty smooth and have lots of room on the inside. The wind noise is pretty brutal though and that V6 is pretty rough feeling at some RPM's. One of the guys at work has one and he's on the waitlist for a new engine.

Did they ever figure out why they were blowing up?
>>
>>28925211
Everybody is blaming it on "metal shavings". It's more than likely a combination of the AFM bullshit and super thin oil.
>>
>>28925211
from what I could figure they made the cam bearings too narrow to try to save on fuel or something like that

These are mostly Tacoma issues. My nuRanger gets ~23mpg and interior space is comparable to a decent-size sedan. I've also got an Outback in the family and the Ranger compares pretty well, better front seat space at the expense of slightly worse back seats, same MPG, very similar footprint, etc. Stock ride quality sucked but a relatively cheap set of Bilstein 5100s transformed it. The Ecoboost helps a lot too, people like to bitch about it but I'd much rather have this turbo 4 than any midsize truck V6 I've driven, it's a really solid engine and way better-suited to truck use than the high-strung car-based V6s they've been putting in trucks for the last decade or so.

All that said I'll probably switch to a half ton when it's time for a new truck but I like the Ranger a lot and it did its job very well when I lived somewhere a bigger truck wouldn't fit.

>My nuRanger gets ~23mpg and interior space is comparable to a decent-size sedan
A F-150 gets that and it's interior space is comparable to a flagship sedan like a Rolls Royce.

>I've also got an Outback in the family and the Ranger compares pretty well
That's not really a good thing.
>>
>>28925673
Saying a turbo 4 banger is less high strung than a NA v6 is wild

>then you never needed a truck
What a dumbfuck.
For starters, weight =/= volume.
Ive had an 8 foot bed packed higher than the cab with centralizers and it was only 800 pounds of cargo.
I dont WANT suspension that rides like a conestoga wagon when theres only a 200 pound dirt bike in the bed.
I NEED articulation when im out on the trails (where your 1 ton wont even make it halfway to camp).
Your view of a truck is a tool needed to haul 5 tons of scrap iron to the recycler to make rent. Congrats on being poor.
My truck is a custom.off-road rig used for leisure. Weight is detrimental in this application.
Now piss off back to the trailer park.

It ain't a real truck if it don't have the full 8' truck bed.

Own a rclb version of a first Gen Cummins for almost 20 years now. Piece of SHIT truck is never buy one again. I have too much money invested so I'm sunk cost fallacy holding onto it forever now.

My 10s f150 demolishes it in every category including reliability. No comparison really.
>>
>>28925933
Got a '92 that still works reliably to this day. Not sure what your problem was... skill issue? idk.
>>
>>28925900

>not even 800lbs

You only did that once. Anyone who uses their half ton for some sort of actual work often has hat thing sitting on the bump stops

>rig

I am sure you don't even offroad

I think yours is just a lemon

>You only did that once.
I fucking made them, dipshit.
That was a rush job to a major construction site downtown.
Normally I just delivered jobs half that size for cliff stabilization. I could have gotten by with a Ranger.
>durrhurr you don't even offroad.
Ive ran support in the Baja 500. I've been places in my truck that aren't even marked on a map.
Take your faggot ass back to whatever greaseball hick redneck bar you stumbled out of. You know nothing of the people or the world outside of your dirt poor county and it shows.

>>28925683
F-150s get more like 16-17 IRL. Yeah, the interior space is great, and part of why I'm planning on one as my next truck, but the non-Tacoma midsizes aren't bad and it's a moot point if the half ton doesn't fit in your garage or your budget. (Both of which were the case when I bought my Ranger.)

>>28925861
Not saying it about every turbo 4 vs every N/A V6, but it's definitely true with recent trucks. You have to rev the piss out of the V6s to get anywhere, especially towing or loaded, while the 4s just chill at low RPM. If you want an actual stats example of that, the last gen Taco made its peak 265 ft/lb at 4,400 while the Ranger makes 310 at 3,000.
>>
>>28926226
>F-150s get more like 16-17 IRL
Yeah pure city. You aren't getting 23 city in a nu-ranger. A gas F-250 Tremor on 37's gets 16-17 highway in the real world. If a half ton doesn't fit in your garage trying to squeeze a """midsize""" in there is going to get old pretty quick and you'll just wind up parking it on the driveway anyways.
>>
>>28925937
Mine "works" as well. Doesn't mean it isn't a complete turd.

>whataboutism
Pathetic.
>>
>>28926625
The point was that truck A is garbage and so is truck B and truck C.
If truck A had 500 recalls while truck B had 7 and truck C had 6 then we could all gather around and talk shit about truck A.
But youre reaching into a porta-potty at a music festival and pulling out a turd to highlight how bad the food from the taco truck is and telling me to ignore the pile of shit from the guy that ate at the BBQ pit.
Fuck off you disingenuous fanboi faggot.
