Be honest, how long until they're forced to allow Chinese automakers in the US?
>>28927000>>28926271>>28915539wow thats weird there sure are a lot of threads talking about chinese cars with news headlines as their images paired with smug disingenuous body text. gosh it almost feels like there are multiple shills spamming threads about the chinese automotive industry on 4chan but that CANT be right!!
Why does everybody think chink cars would kill the domestic market?
>>28927156Made in America is probably a non-negotiable demand. American subsidiary is probably also up there.
>>28927156Either we let them in or they'll surround us, it's inevitable.
>>28928118they can sell all the cars they want in canada and mexico, we should have twelve million percent tariffs on all imports
>>28928120Domestic automakers will lose to Chinese EVs either way. I don't see how this would make a difference unless Ford and GMC are content with selling only to Americans.
>>28927379The domestic market has to support retardedly high defined benefit pensions which drive up the cost of production (this was always a stupid plan and should have been replaced by defined contribution to a total market fund decades ago, everyone would have been better off)The Chinese don't have to spend that extra money, so they can compete on value.
>>28928122theyll have to bedo you think three companies cant compete for the business of 350 million people?
>>28927376You think the headlines are amusing, you should read the publisher names, they read like Temu-tier knock-offs...
>>28927156I won't be surprised when America's white talent starts emigrating to China then we won't have to worry about a dying empire's bullshit policies.
>>28928490>I won't be surprised when America's white talent starts emigrating to China then we won't have to worry about a dying empire's bullshit policiesAlready happened to Germany. There was an interesting image of the top talent in Germany's auto industry. Like 20 of them in a group photo taken years ago. It listed their names, their former roles within the German auto industry, and their current roles inside the Chinese auto industry. Sure, most of them were just designers, with a few power train and chief engineers, but the point was that all the top talent had left or greener pastures.Wonder if the same will happen for the US.
>>28927156The real issue with chinese EVs is that they lack the network of dealerships. Yes. Dealerships. While we're all too happy to chat about the inner and outer jewness of the stealership, they serve a purpose as hubs for parts and repairs. without that network chink cars will literally be disposable. Your brand new (to you) chink EV is undriveable, what are you gonna do now? The parts exist, but they need to be shipped from China, so they'll arrive here in a month by sea, or you can pay expedited shipping by air. Here's a little fun fact that no one thinks about but makes a lot of sense once it's told to you: air shipping charges by weight. you hear that and you go "yeah, makes sense, plane needs to be light to fly, heavy thing = more fuel, etc." You wanna know what's heavy? fucking car parts. So your little overnighting shipping costs will be something like $400+ dollars before tarrifs even hit.Meaning you cheap EV will end up with the repair expenses of a used 100K miles BMW, and who will do the repair? there's (yet) to be some kind of master mechanic specializing on chink cars. If only there was a dealership open somewhere some faggot could go and git gud at repairing these things, and once he musters out he opens his own little mechanic shop specializing on chink EVs,if only.
>>28928520This.But this is solvable.Have a local warehouse with spare parts and use local logistics. Make the repair manuals and tools public so that independent workshops can offer their services.
>>28927156we need a compromise. no chinese autos but public torture and execution of all VPs and executives at the big niggerlicious 3.
>>28928520>>28928681Isn't this how Tesla solved the issue? With vertical integration. They own their dealerships "showrooms" and even sell their own insurance. Elon's even further milking their customers by now building restaurants at new dealerships.
>>28928681>Make the repair manuals and tools public so that independent workshops can offer their services.warranty repairs include parts and labor. i'm not a mechanic, but i've heard that warranty labor is notoriously understated e.g., a job that pays a mechanic for 3 hours of book time might actually take 5 hours of real time. in a dealer owned garage this is easy to manage and exploit because the mechanics are on your payroll. it's much harder to get independently owned shops to agree to this, because their mechanics are no longer on your payroll.
>>28928692There already is one. Chinese automakers will be allowed to enter the US market only if they build their cars here. That's what they'll agree on in two years.
>>28928520retarded boomer thinks dealership = service centers. jfc what sort of boony ass countryside do you live. car manufacturers can just set up service centers or wrap repair shops as part of a network without stealerships in the middle, dealer faggot
