Why do they insist on glass windshields?
>>28928261I really highly doubt they're glass. They're likely plexiglass or Lexan. What else are they going to use?
>>28928261Being able to see is pretty crucial while driving Anon.
would building your car like that actually do shit against a tornado or just tip over.
>>28928261Polycarbonate or similar might flex too much because of the pressure difference in extreme conditions, causing it to get ripped out.Just guessing here.
>that one distant pair of taillights that just drives into itWho do these people think they are?
>>28928271EF3 and below, maybeEF4 and above, no. Mother Nature mogs human ingenuity eventually.
Have you ever seen a windshield? They're pretty goddamn tough. Any force that is breaking it is probably destroying the car too. It also doesn't scratch. Anything like lexan is shatter proof but not breakproof and they scratch very easily, like for example if a lot of small debris is being flung around at high speeds
>>28928279Real men don't concern themselves with phallic shaped winds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulzCwJIUSXY>>28928285The TIV is rated to handle a EF4. Along with the skirts it has some long spikes that anchor it into the ground. It also weighs like 10,000lbs. The windows are ploycarb.
>>28928271>would building your car like that actually do shit against a tornadoYou're asking do boats float. They obviously work because people drive in to tornadoes in these things.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwE0hdBTUnM
Tornadoes are fucking scary man. We don’t get them in my country but watching twister as a kid was a traumatic experience
>>28928338Wow. Impressive video, impressive vehicle. That's terrifying.
>>28928261Depending on the spikes is going to get them killed. They aren't as good as TIV's were and on a recent intercept attempt they even had them fail to deploy. >>28928271If you can successfully keep air from reaching underneath your car and pulling you up, you can withstand whatever EF tornado you want. Horizontal winds are a meme. EF10 wouldn't do shit to a reinforced dome-shaped building. The problem with Dom 3, is uh…it needs to be able to drive…
Could it survive El Reno?
Reminder, race cars sound good because you can hear and feel them in your chest cavity as they pass by.Same applies to tornados, they don't just sound big these girls feel big.
>>28928368Reed was literally on the same road as twistex at the time following them from probably a mile behind, they were in the tornado with him iirc, just not in the core or orbiting subvortices. Dom3 team might have been severely injured but survived. It might not be completely hopeless if the carbon fiber shell doesn't cave in. It probably wouldn't have handled the winds without rolling though. Reed doesn't go in EF5s, the dom isn't rated for themYou would probably want rotating giant screws and a thick metal roof like a tank for protecting you from huge, heavy debris. That's what I would do if I were to make a Dom 4 anyway. It would need a much stronger engine and maintenance would probably be a nightmare
>>28928365>Horizontal winds are a meme. It's not the wind that kills you, it's what the wind throws at you.You can put your head out a car window at 100mph and you'll be a fine, but if a brick hits your face at that speed it's a totally different story.
>>28928388>it's what the wind throws at youAnd what the wind throws you at.
>>28928388I'm saying that in an armored vehicle like this, debris hitting you is never an issue because it mostly just bounces off, but your vehicle getting thrown is because you are not immune to blunt force trauma just because you are hiding inside of an APC
>>28928368>El RenoWatching footage of it now. Holy shit. Pretty interesting topic to research for a bit.I'd be driving 12/10 away from that crying like a little baby.Interesting display of the soup of chemistry, heat, and forces we're all swimming in.
>>28928261>>28928266>>28928272TIV has a 40mm bulletproof polycarbonate windshield, regular glass would be death.>>28928297>rated to handle a EF4Theoretical design limits for wind do not equate to practical design limits with windborne debris and imperfect road conditions. Dominator 3 has been very lucky with their high-end intercepts to date.>>28928365>Depending on the spikesSomething much dumber than that will get Reed killed.
>a Toyota mogs your $700,000 triangle mobile to make his one video per yearIn Akio I trust
>>28928368doubtful, that shit stripped asphalt from roads
>>28928402Getting out of the TIV with the tornado barely a few hundred yards away will probably be what does him in. All fun and games until some big ass hunk of shit falls out of the sky and lands on you after getting yeeted by a nader. Anything worse than EF2 and I'm getting the fuck out of town, and for intercepting anything bigger than an EF3 you would need a main battle tank to have a hope of not getting thrown half a mile in whatever you're in and you're probably still getting flipped or tossed a ways in an EF5 even if you are 60 tons.
That stupid ass thing will not keep you safe any more than a regular car. Chasers are retards.
>>28928272Lexan was created for jet aircraft canopies.
>>28928261Why not just use an indestructible Tesla truck??
>>28928338thats pretty fuckin wild
>>28928368For me it''s Jarrell
>>28928338>2:06 a piece of debris sparks of the windshield.>Cameraman decides it's wise to sit further back.
>>28928261Why not install heavy side skirts like on venturi tunnels and add a fan for more downforce/suction?
