Is this a lot of miles/hours for a 2020 F150 with a 5 liter?
>>28928993I have no idea
That is an insane number of hours and a large percentage of idle time. For reference my 137k mile truck has 4000 running and about 1200 idle.
Who cares? As long as it was maintained (and no, 10K mfgr OCIs aren't that), it's fine. 90% of wear is from start up. If one could swap the oil live as the engine was running, you could theoretically idle it continuously for hundreds of thousands of miles without any problems so long as operating conditions remained.
>>28928993Why do retard rednecks idle their trucks so much kek
I think the problem with idle hours is from when water-cooling systems couldn't handle staying idle with no air going through the radiator so they'd slightly overheat.Am I incorrect?
>>289289936000 hours at idle is about 30,000 more miles on the engine, just add that onto the milage. I'm also assuming this is a work truck, which is another thing to consider in price.
>>28929241No, modern electric cooling fans are more than capable of cooling everything at idle The real issue is bearing wear and carbon deposits.
>>28929246>The real issue is bearing wear and carbon depositsThat's fair. I doubt it's a big deal in this case though. How long do speed enforcement cop cars last?
>>28929262Wow, apparently they don't last long. 100k.
>>28929245It's more than that, nowadays.Everything now has a low flow oil pump that barely moves anything at idle.I'd treat it as if it's got 150k-180k miles on it.
>>28929483Don't forget about the direct injection systems and terrible tuning that dumps raw gas into your already water thin engine oil.
>>28928993Dawg, that's nearly 260 days of straight idle time. That's a lot.
>>28929262>How long do speed enforcement cop cars last?Idling an hour is like adding about 33 miles or something like that. If you change oil solely on miles and idle a lot, the oil is toast by the end of the interval.Keeping it idle is still wear and tear, but people perceive it the same as leaving it off.
>>28929236Their trucks are nicer than their homes and they want to spend more time in them. I dated white trash and I'd stretch out the amount of time we would sit in my Mercedes so I wouldn't have go into her moms Squidbillies tier shithouse.
>>28929236This is 100% a work truck.>Average speed of 27mph when it was actually moving. It just screams "out dropping hay in a field day after day". Youre not going to shut off the truck when you get out for 2 minutes and then get back in just to get out again in 5 minutes. One thing about this type of truck is suspension issues. Cruising on asphalt with the suspension basically static for 10 miles at a time does nothing to balljoints and bushings. But being in a field and hitting gopher holes and ruts every 3 feet and having the suspension go through full articulation adds up. If they didnt maintain it they eat the rubber and start grinding metal-on-metal.>t. Have rebuilt multiple.farm trucks
