Alright. I love love the look of the RX7 FC. Its got just about all the right angles and length. Only problem is ive heard the engine is just a bomb and the car has the typical mazda touch of just push it out so things fail. How is it really? Does it really have all these issues? Are there cars that look the same?
>>
>>28929547
youre the type to see a 944 and be all like now THAT"S a porsche
>>
>>28929547
>Are there cars that look the same?
Yes, 90% of "sporty" coupes from the 80s.
No, you're not going to get one of those either. 40 year old cars are not for wrenchlets that are afraid to take care of them.
>>
>>28929547
LS swapped RX7 FC
>>
>>28929549
I like it when they make things that aren’t a 911
Super affordable interesting car
>>
>>28929547
Engine overhauls are just part of the RX7 life anon.
I know guys with FCs & FDs.
They rebuild that shit every 5 years or so

There's a manual NA 944 listed near me for 10,000 maple crusted beaver pelts. Should I?
>>
>>28929547
I daily'd one for a few years but was during a time when they were plentiful and cheap, I wouldn't buy one today unless it's for purely collecting and storing. The interior wasn't too bad but the plastic was absolute garbage tier. Everything else about the car was nice though, far nicer feeling than the 240sx I had before it.
>>
>>28929649
>purely collecting and storing
Fuck that. Cars are meant to be driven. If all you do is look at it in the garage, you may as well not even have it. Look at pictures online if that's all you want.
>>
>>28929651
$20-30k for clean example of 80s rotary tech is way overpriced, sure cars are meant to be driven but if I had car collector money I'd buy this one to collect because it's the car I drive during my late teenage days, I fucked my first exgf in the passenger seat at a train station parking lot one early winter morning and then a commuter train full of people passed through and saw us connecting our fun parts together in an FC, good times
>>
>>28929666
Thats the car life now. Its not going back down. So if you can get a clean one for 25k why shouldnt you?
>>
>>28929547
I think FBs are a much better buy in America. Or go newer and get an rx8. I do like the FC look though
>>
>>28929547
Happy I had one of those shits. I hear two stroke oil in the gasoline is yum to them.
>>
>>28929704
Because there's much better options for 25k
>>
>>28929726
Such as? And are these examples personal preference?
>>
>>28929766
Such as any car that's not an 80s collectors rotarded edition shitbox, maybe it's easy for me to say because I lived it 20 years ago when they were still like $2k but $25k is absurd, you can get a V8 for $25k
>>
>>28929775
While this is true. Different cars have different driving feels
Heres a miata and here is a challenger
One drives like a gokart one drives like a boat
So disregarding raw power. How do the cars feel has to be taken into consideration

He was asking for *other* cars, retard.
>>
>>28929642
Go for it. Literally looks just like the FC but with a normal engine and was built for normal sized people, not tiny Japanese girls.
>>
>>28929634
Uglier and even less reliable with far worse parts availability kek

are shitting on FCs and FDs, but not FBs? my FB 12a is stock and still going strong, no engine rebuilds, just every other major maintenance since everything is 40+ years old. imo the stock 12a isn't pushed hard enough to fail unless the coolant system fails and it overheats, and you continue to drive it while overheating. only get one if you plan on wrenching yourself, you'll need it
>>
>>28930110
god i love red dials
why the fuck does everything nowadays have to be max bright purple and blue and cool white leds
bring back warm white, yellow and red
fucking conspiracy, i swear
>>
>>28930127
>Orange dials with the maroon interior
Aaaaaaaah
>>
>>28929811
WRONG!
I posted 25 pictures of the same car, learn to count.
>>
>>28929801
>Escort looks like the RX7 and the 928 looks anything like the others
Are you lowkenuinly disabled?
>>
The rotary engine is unironically the ultimate engine IQ test. If you break it or wear it out too early, you failed
>>
>>28930278
They sound terrible
>>
>>28930283
Maybe a 2 rote, but it Doesn't have to. 3+ rotes are God tier.
I had a GTU 227k kms on the original engine. Ran great and had excellent compression even when I sold it. The key is lubrication. Ashless 2 stroke premix and injection, 10w30 oil, never overheated. It's like a 2 stroke engine, if you're not very astute, you can be running with inadequate lubrication, and you have no way to tell until it's too late

>Are there cars that look the same?

That's because when Japan got their shit going in the late 1970s they did it by copying everything German

All these 1980s Jap coupes are derivatives of the original le mans 924s/944
>>
>>28929547
If you have to ask you can't afford it nor ready to be taking on a now *vintage* car with a meme motor as a project
>>
>>28930138
Is this the FBs interior?
Why was the 80s the last time car manufacturers put care into interiors?
>>
>>28930461
That's an FC, FB has more of a 70s look
>>
>>28930298
I'm glad they had the taste to copy that instead of something like the XJS or TR7
>>
>>28930530
>the other cars of the 80s look like the TR7
Whoops
>>
>>28930658
Which car looks as bad as the TR7?
Other than the TR8.
>>
>>28930680
I never said they looked bad but if you think the TR7 & 8 look bad then what looks good?
