Sup dudes,

Never bought a new truck before, looking at pic related because everyone seems all boners for them. I really wanted a 4Runner but the price for a used one with a V6 is absolutely bonkers. The previous one I was considering was 5 years old, priced at 46k and used APR rates are fucking silly so all said and done it would be around 56k. I am a dipshit but that is something I wont do.

I dont NEED a truck, but I cant think of anything else to buy and I loved test driving this thing. I have never owned a low car before, coming from a 1998 Cherokee (RIP) and always wanted something a tad off road ready because I love flying down forest service roads here in the PNW.

The closest dealership near me has a top of the line pro4x for 44k after nissan rebate and dealership rebate. I imagine I could talk them down to like 46-47k OTD? I have no idea. I do have a few hangs up:

I heard the back up camera is kinda ass. Is that true?

How is the resale? Only asking because because POSSIBLY in the future if the Xterra is really cool in about 3 years maybe id trade this in. I'd love to be able to sleep in the back. I guess I could always get a RTT if needed for the frontier.

I have 30k to put down comfortably. I have 110k saved so have quite the oh shit fund.
>buy a house
I live in the PNW shits 560k for a townhouse I dont want to be spending half my monthly take home on a house
>buy a used taco
fucking ORP's for a 2023 are like 45k+ and would get fucked by APR.
>get a crosstrek
kinda tempted. part of me is worried this would be overkill for road trips, forest roads and maybe camping
>>
Also forgot to add, I dont drink so I am always a DD. Are the back seats good enough my drunk friends wont complain if we go bar hopping?

Wtf dude buy a house

Nah ill inherit my parents place in like 5 years they are old as shit

If you don't need a truck get a a half ton. They're much better "cars with beds" than the """midsized""" trucks. Also don't get anything with a 5' box if you plan on sleeping in it unless you're a ultra manlet. Really think if you really want to always be dragging along a RTT. Don't follow too much of the hype on the Frontier. It's on the top 10 most unreliable vehicles list and those engine and tranny issues will kill the resale.

Buy a 20 year old 4runner for 8 grand.

Queers like you are why new trucks are priced so high.
You don't need a pickup, don't buy one.
Buy a used Lexus if you need back seat space.
LS 600H go for only $20k right now. 500hp extremely reliable. The finest of the slabs.
>>
>>28931680
It’s a huge disappointment. Doesn’t even have a fucking trailer brake light at that price. That should say enough for a “truck”
>>
>>28931781
What top 10 list? I’ve seen this claim before but it’s never on any of the lists that I see from consumer reports to car and driver. You are clearly just talking out of your ass

This. If that shitposter actually has a list sourced nonrectally, watch it be some j d powers bullshit. I'd love to see how the vehicles were compared.

there are plenty of other things to buy, but if you enjoy driving the frontier then good for you. Aim for MSRP out the door. Nissan cameras are pretty shit but who cares, it's there to see if you need to slam the brakes not to read people's bumper stickers
Crosstrek is cvt which sucks the fun out of everything. Also Subaru cabin controls are shit, especially compared to the frontier but even just normally

I did enjoy it. The higher seating, the hydraulic steering, the comfy seats, the peppy engine.

yeah that basically leaves the frontier
>>

frontiers are pretty torquey
they really scoot around in that 0-50mph range without even revving past 2k

>I dont want to be spending half my monthly take home on a house
You can't, your income needs to be 3x the payment to qualify for a home loan. If people actually did the math they'd revolt. For a 560k house you need to make 186k a year. Also use a loan calculator to determine what the overall cost would be plus interest, because you end up paying 2.5-3x the price of the house over the course of a 30 year loan. Money is a scam, and you definitely don't understand it yet with the stupid questions you ask. I bet that 110k is sitting in a checking account lmao.

>Crosstrek
Unacceptably slow with a disgustingly loud CVT. Get a Toyota crossover if you are ok with a hybrid system (a used one can be had in full gas), or a Mazda cross. They're still based with full gas vehicles and large displacement. Anything newer model years is shitted up with "safety features" so be forewarned, that shit will slam on its brakes on its own because the car in the lane next to you slowed down. But they do a lot better offroad (on-path really) than Subaru or Toyota. That tranny Sarah-n-tuned does good reviews on cuckovers where HE rallies them and takes them up sandy hills. The Mazda cx30 shit on the Crosstrek, and the Rav4 and Corolla Cross don't do that great either.

If you're gonna get a truck don't get Nigsan. They're made to break within a few years of ownership. They fall apart including critical components. There really aren't options for good small trucks. You can get a Wrangler and convert it or buy an old fucked up gardeners truck that a flipper cleaned up and charged thousands more for.

>Nah ill inherit my parents place in like 5 years they are old as shit

boomers will sell the house and leave you with nothing 99% of the time.
Don't count on anything from them.
We love our parents, but they have the boomer mind virus.
Invest your money and then buy a house.
A new truck will take thousands of dollars from you and make you financially poor.
It's a shit decision.
>>
>>28932682
Was a half joke, I am promotion or two away from being able to afford a monthly payment. If I put 110k down on a house and hit the 20% down payment id still be paying $3500 a month for even a town house here which isnt a financially smart move.
