Why are Japanese cars so reliable and German cars so unreliable?
>>28932116Simple version is Japanese cars culturally have always been aimed towards simplicity and efficiency while German design philosophy has always been to min/max the machine no matter the added complexity, as well as exported German cars maintaining a luxury image, leading to them typically having newer and less tested tech.
>>28932116Germans tried to compete with the Japanese starting late 90's and it fucked them up because Germany cannot scale like Japan can.
>>28932116is the meme about the nips taking owner neglect into account true? IE. the nips basically realized>people will not change their oil or perform other maintenance on schedule. we will take that into account on our designvs the germans:>we are an orderly, rule following people (aside from the """NEW GERMANS""" ofc), maintenance and oil changes will be done exactly as specified. It doesn't exactly explain the plastic disaster brewing in every bmw however.
>>28932116And mazda rx7 ,rx8 and subaru ?
>>28932116It's not really true anymore now that most of the big name japs are just as arrogant and entitled as the germans were
>>28932116Good German cars ARE reliable but they're built to autistic German standards which require meticulous maintenance schedules.Certain Japanese cars, like Toyota for example, are built to crude standards and thus they will survive for a long time even if you DON'T follow the maintenance schedule.
>>28932126That's only one of the factors, you have tom remember that Japan is also an island nation with more weather events that can fuck up a vehicle vs Germany, so the expectation of vehicle maintenance and the cost associated with it is vastly different. Japs then would make cars that are designed to last to cost the less over time while Germans beleive that cars should only last until you have the money for a new car
>>28932129Wow when are you gonna step out of the 1980s? Toyota is so comically shit right now
>>28932119Everything was fine until the Japanese forgot simplicity and min-maxed efficiency
this is no longer true. bmws are the most reliable cars on the road while toyota is recalling millions of engines because they keep blowing up.
>>28932126>It doesn't exactly explain the plastic disaster brewing in every bmw however.I'd wager that those components are supposed to be replaced at certain intervals which would normally be long before failure, but many owners neglect it. It's the same deal with the plastic radiator tanks we've all become familiar with - they are designed to be replaced fairly easily, and because they're plastic they should be quite cheap to replace, but of course the manufacturers don't want to past those cost savings on to the customer... so it's designed to be cheap for the dealer to replace, but not you.
>>28932132Yeah I'm not talking about their new shit, but neither is OP because all nu cars are gay - even Japanese ones.
>>28932129>but they're built to autistic German standards which require meticulous maintenance schedules.if you actually look up problems for German cars, almost all of them are caused by poor engineering
>>28932116Not only German cars. For example Soviet cars were even more unreliable. Their owners/drivers in the USSR were aware of that and many has necessary skills to fix them, even on the road shoulder. Fixing it was easy enough for those who knew what to do; even with a piece of wire. Many kept spare parts in the trunks of their vehicles e.g. timing belts. That’s why women drivers were rare in the USSR. You couldn’t drive a car if you all you could do beneath the hood is filling windshield cleaning tank.
>>28932154Such as?
>>28932116Why don't I see Mercedes, BMW, and Audi having hundreds of thousands of vehicles recalled due to requiring engine replacements like modern Toyota? Why are modern Japanese cars so unreliable? If you had posted this 10-15 years ago I might have been inclined to agree.
>>28932171In April 2009, a class action suit was filed against BMW in connection with HPFP failures. BMW settled the suit in June 2010. On 26 October 2010, following an ABC News story about HPFP failures, BMW announced a recall of vehicles with the pump in question from manufacturing years 2007–2010. The recall was applied to 130,000 cars, resulting in the replacement of the HPFP in approximately 40,000 of these cars.In the United States, the warranty period for the HPFP was increased to 10 years and 120,000 mi (190,000 km). On some cars, the HPFP was replaced multiple times without resolving the issue, potentially leading to the car being refunded under the Lemon Laws in some states. The High Pressure Fuel Pump issue caused BMW North America to extend the warranty for this pump to 10 years or 120,000 mi (190,000 km). The warranty period for the fuel injectors was also increased, to 10 years or 120,000 mi (190,000 km). An updated design for the fuel injectors was also introduced. Due to problems with rattling wastegates caused by premature bushing wear,BMW extended the warranty period for wastegate-related issues to 8 years or 82,000 mi (132,000 km). These warranty extensions only apply to the United States.

>>28932196It wasn't me.It was another anon or even a bot
>>28932190What are the engineering issues with vanos?
>>28932199They are worse than VTEC
>>28932209KTM is Austrian. And even though Austrians have controlled German industry and politics for centuries, they are much worse engineers.
>>28932202Why?What was engineered wrong?
>>28932116*blocks your path*
>>28932127Rx7 has always been the based retard of cars. Subarus are very reliable, on average. Yeah, they had some bad years/ models, but overall reliability is strong.
>>28932223>I want a camaro, but worse!
>>28932227No one wants trash American "sports" cars
>>28932228people who want their car to handle good and work, do.
>>28932227>took BMW over half a decade and AWD to be able to be 0.4 seconds faster than a RWD Camaro around the BurgerringkekSo which BMW can beat a new Corvette Z06 around the same track? Not to even mention the ZR1 and ZR1X.

>>28932116Cars reflect the KKKULCHA from whence they cummed (came)Superior Nipponese people value tradition, longevity, are future-oriented with control over their impulses and have long-term thinking.White "people" value novelty, gimmicks, "innovation", and other bing-bing wahoo nigger-brain shit.It was a fluke of history that whites became the dominant race. They're only good for their women, and those only have but a brief shelf life. Otherwise disposable race. Here're some 14/88 kneepads for you, might as well get used to being on you'are knees.
one is made for boring ass soulless slow drivingthe other is made for the exact oppositeyou can’t have both
>>28932116German cars will be reliable if anyone was willing to pay for timely maintenance. Most of them are luxury brands and demand a lot of money to maintain. However after their warranty period they are sold to poorfags who can afford the car but not the maintenance. They will bitch about reliability while being unwilling to pay to maintain a luxury product.
>>28932132>>28932134>>28932196toyota is "comically shit right now" while you ignore audis wiping out valvetrains and mercedes chewing up harnesses because bmw happened to make 2 good engines after 30+ years of shitters like the n63 and n20 >>28932199seals which is why there's 2 companies that make it their business rebuilding them (beisan and dr vanos)german car rubber/plastics are biodegradable and only recently were improved to where the cars werent leaking out of every seal after 7-10 years
>>28933112>for timely maintenanceThat being twice as often as the manufacturer guidelines
>>28932132>Toyota is so comically shit right nowThis is true for cars in general now \, you know what's way worse than toyota in this regard? Everything modern german.
Because japanese culture is extremely strict and making a shit car would be a shamefur dispray to their ancestors. Atleast it was up until every industry got flooded with moderniggers with no sense of quality or value in the last decade and a half.
>>28932241>40 more wheel horsepower(bmw measures at the wheel while cheby measures at the crank)>costs 40 grand more>brand new design(the Camaro hasn’t been seriously altered since 2016)>can only beat the 1LE at 1 out of 3 tracksHoly fuck what a dogshit car. Bimmer nigger are delusional
>>28932228>meanwhile; your average bmw driverhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM3B9NZjpjA2:20 is especially funny.
>>28932132>Toyota is so comically shit right nowIt's only comically shit because you're looking at the wrong thing. Toyota is putting all of their chips on their hybrid technology, which is why their hybrids are almost unbreakable. They're just coasting on the gas engine thing, 2026 corollas have the exact same 1.8L engine they've been just improving upon here and there since the 70s. They don't give a shit about making new engines or new engine technology or making what they already have on hand more reliable than it already is. As a mater of fact when they change it is when they have problems, (as evidenced by the recent failures of the redesigned V35As)
