Description-
>Super fun lil hardtail chopper to rip around on ! It does not run at the moment I have pics of it when it did and then the last pics are what it looks like now. It started making a lil metal to metal noise on the top end ? I’m guessing rocker box or possible push rod issue ?!? I have other projects I’m ready to move on with, so this is a killer project for those that wanna wrench a lil and have a cool ride ! New tires and bearings, I recently rebuilt the transmission and it has all new primary gaskets and seals. Any questions shoot me a message …BEST OFFER GETS IT !!!

My bike is a 2025 model that was designed in the 90s. My riding playlist is all based on artists who long for the 80s. My edc is a polymer implementation of a gun from the 70s. We're posting on a site that hasn't updated it's UI beyond the 2000s. You can call people 'homie' with sincerety now.

How hard is building a chopper for a guy like me that has tools, but isn’t mechanically inclined?
Say I buy the engine, frame, transmission, etc. Would I just be better off buying one already done for say 6 grand? Also what is an MSO? How hard is it to title a built bike?

>>
>>28932443
I've never heard anybody describe their chopper build experience as "easy". But maybe being less mechanically inclined would result in getting less ambitious or creative with what you feel like you should remove or relocate? In any case, it will always cost more to title a custom build than it will to chop an already running, titled bike.

Should I buy a relatively mint gas tank near me?
Mine is perfectly fine, however I have no intention to get rid of the bike im question so the idea of having a spare incase of the original getting fucked from an accident or crash seems like a wise investment.

Although, they do sell aluminum aftermarket tanks but it's 3x the cost. However one does get a lot of weight savings from it.

Invest in spare OEM or save my money and IF something ever happens just buy an alu replacement?

TLDR; Some fans have been suspicious of MotoAmerica favoring Harley because Harley has deep sponsorship pockets. Personally I always just assumed Harley Davidson was winning the two classes they are in because they could afford to hire all the top riders for their teems. But yeah changing the rules two races in to the session is kinda sus.

Not a mechanic but could use help/advice:

Changed my oil recently. When I was riding the other day I checked the oil level, and I saw it was foamy. Like a thin layer of bubbles on the top, they weren't going away quickly when stopped or the bike turned off. Did I add too much oil, googling says it can get foamy like that if there was too much added? I am positive nothing else got inside when I changed it, and I had just bought the oil from the store that day so I really doubt it was contaminated or anything like that. Last time I changed my oil (using the same brand) I didn't have this problem.

Is there an easy fix I can do? Is there a best way to drain just alittle bit of oil without taking the plug out or anything like that? Thanks.
>>
>>28933151
Wait for it to be cold and check the sight glass. If it does have too much oil you can open the plug a little bit and let it drain out until you get the right level.
>>
>>28933151
Smell fresh, cold oil. Then, smell your oil from the fill port when the engine is hot.
How much like petrol does it smell?
IMO do an oil change anyway, but the (if) fuel smell is usually indicating of either running rich, running too cold or too much blow-by on the rings.

You do not have access to flow testing those printed stacks, for all you know you've nerfed performance because of this.

the stacks flow a lot more air than the stock airbox, so I had to go up jet sizes. I ordered multiple sizes of jets and tested until it wasnt running too rich or lean.

>>28933467
I mean sure I don't have access to flow testing, but I know my bike and it pulls harder with these vs the stock airbox. plus I intend to print different versions, with different lengths, cone angle, etc and see how it changes things. let a man have some fun tinkering, anon

Are there are fire roads you could start off on? Just kinda flatter gravel tracks are a nice way to start and then start pushing your options and go from there, I don't know what the legalities are where you are so I don't know exactly how you'd find the specific trails, maybe see if you can find some off road riders locally and see if they'll share some trails with you.

With regards to that dualsport, I was talking to a buddy today about it and I think what looks odd about it for a dualsport is the sort of naked/streetfighter style headlight and the lumpy seat rather than a skinnier flat seat. It looks like something I'd expect to see people flying around on in like Vietnam. Otherwise it looks okay, if not a little underhwleming performance wise, I'd probably rather get a used CRF250L or something in all honesty, but it's nice to see them try to break into another market.

The Tracer 9 GT has really grown on me over the years. Its a really good do everything bike for commuting, city, and back roads. You can find really good deals on the for what they are. The GX is $7000 over what I paid on my a brand new Tracer. The deal I got to take the bike off their lot was too good to pass up. Though if you can find a good deal on a GX go for it.

Ultimately get the one you have your heart set on. It tool some mods to get the Tracer to not look weird to me.

>>28933568

>Otherwise it looks okay, if not a little underhwleming performance wise, I'd probably rather get a used CRF250L or something in all honesty, but it's nice to see them try to break into another market.
to be honest we have so little choice for that segment in europe i'm happy there is another choice, performance doesn't matter it's a little dual sport, as long as you can do 110km/h to reach the trails and it's not stupid heavy it's good enough.

speaking of dual sport stuff. anyone has any experience with the airoh bandit and/or commander 2? i test fitted the commander 2 and it's so light and fresh but i'm not sure i want to drop the 400 tokens for it, but the bandit is that much of a downgrade? i find so little reviews of them. any other bang/buck dual sport bucket i should consider?

It'll be hard. But dumber people than you(probably) do it for a living.

Also you'll be mechanically inclined afterwards lol. My advice is buy something that runs, and do it in parts if practical. It's easy to lose motivation on project bikes, and it's nice when you know once you get whatever you're doing back together you'll get to ride it. It's a massive amount of work that's hidden under what's not there, as well as what is. Price out everything you'll need. Now double it. That's a realistic cost.

You could buy one done, but that's poser shit, can't relate.

I'm more surprised at how many people routinely sit at 100mph for hours at a time and never catch DPS on their ass.
>>
>>28932267
what's more disgusting, crossover bikes or crossover cars?
>>
>>28933236
Why the hell would you get your first bike from a dealer? There’s like an extra 40% added onto it with bullshit out of door stuff on their end, the bike is clearly already too expensive for you since you want to finance it. And, you being a retard, probably American, means even with a license you ride like shit and will crash your first bike

Go on marketplace or something, get a Japanese for 2-5k and ride it until it breaks or you break it. THEN you can waste money on a out-the-dealer brand new overly plastic and electronics deprecating, cheap corners cut piece of shit

I fucking love my gel seat pad. God damn it's so comfy. Ergos feel really good with it too, even being up a little higher.

Would you trade a 99 vfr for a 99 fireblade

>Chop wide open at 6k in 2nd

Never gets old.

Every fucking time.

You won't feel the bobba through your thick riding jacket, right? Also, if she's got weak neck, you are just going to clank helmets all the time.
>>
>>28933230
You cub nigs are richer than the GS fags for some reason.
>>
>>28934115
Fuck no, especially that gen VFR.
>>
>/dbt/nigs having fun. I'm melting like ice cream
Not fair.
>>
>>28934094
eBay but yeah basically. You can feel the honey comb moves around a bit and you'll have to get used to that and it will put you up a little higher but it's very comfortable.

Still love my Honda.
Except for its battery, which died on a tour on friday and cost me two days of riding under the best weather conditions possible.

What do you mean died?
>>
>>28934178
On the way home I paused for a 20 minute break (pic related) to take a leak. When I decided to continue, the engine didn't start.
Dashboard lit up, hazard lights also worked (for a brief time), but instead of going wupwupwupVRROOOMMM it just went wupwupwupclackclack and died.

Jump starting didn't work either, so I had to tow it. Tow guy tried jumping it, nothing.
It's still the first battery, but the bike isn't even a year old. New battery should do the trick hopefully, will know more next week.

not the bee pic obviously, the >>28934172 one duh
>>
>>28934184
That's not battery bro. Otherwise you'd jumpstart it easily even with it removed.
>>
>>28934186
Oh. What could it be then?
Hopefully nothing major, although I assume it would still fall under warranty anyway.
>>
>>28934184
It's possible that the battery failed in sch a way that it still passes a small enough current to light the dash, but I'm not convinced.
Usually a battery dies in such a way that a huge load (heh) like the starter just blasts the struggling finger connection and shorts it entirely, forever.
New bike or not, starting ohming the fuses, then the terminals.
>>
>>28934184
Legendary honda "reliability" everyone.
A year old battery should not just die like that, even the cheapest walmart battery should last at least a year unless you're shorting it out 24/7
>>
>>28934198
Honda manufactures batteries.

Is there a difference between 1000 and 1100 models? I suggested my father join me on of my next tour and he wants a DCT for his old hands.
>>
>>28934252
beside the obvious bigger motor?
TFT screen
Cruise Control
the 6-axis IMU traction control thing
i think?
>>
>>28934184
I've had this experience before. The battery disconnected itself since when I bought it the place didn't have the bolt tight on the terminal.

what's the point of the supercharger if there's other naturally aspirated bikes that make more horsepower?
>>
>>28934287
Just looks retarded on a gsxr idk
>>
>>28934291
Torque, you can just take off in 5th and never shift which is the nu-males ultimate goal.
>>
>>28934078
I went to look at a MT-07 and the guy had one of those gel seat covers on it. it looked gay as fuck but the guy swore it let him ride for twice as long before his ass got sore

don't think I'd use one 24/7 but I might try one next time I'm doing a longer day
>>
>>28934291
I'd be more interested in a Z1000 with a full fat literbike engine. Just whack a ZX-10R engine in there like the M1000R.

>>
>>28934160
i doubt it
I mean a cub cost like what? 4k?
all those farkles would add up to like 2-3k at most
so even the most gucci cub will cost like 6-7k, sure its kinda expensive when you can buy a brand new NX500 or used T7 at that price
meanwhile a GS cost 20k and the boxes set alone cost 2k
>>
>>28934309
Im not that anon. But ive had gixxers. They're not bad if you have good posture and in decent shape.
Ive done mini road trips on my 1k. Not the best, not the worst

if I was a rich nepobaby I would own a H2 and park it next to a busa
>>

I don't understand how every major Japanese brand has a 200hp-ish engine, yet none make a 200hp adventure/sport tourer

Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda could all eat BMW, Aprilia, and Ducati's lunch if they threw their litre engines into a S1000XR or V4S competitor

yet they don't
