Rural Europeans absolutely love these things, you see them everywhere in countryside
Why?
They are hideous
>>
>>28932316
They are inexpensive and have moderate amount of storage space
Non enthusiasts don't give a shit about what their car looks like

>They are hideous
maybe but they are good car with a good base and reliable parts, unlike lada niva who have 40 years of conception and a comfort of a rusty bench
>>
Cheapest 4x4 you can buy
Surprisingly capable off-road
Relatively reliable
Type of car you don't care if it gets dinged up because it's already ugly as shit
It's the perfect rural daily beater for farmers etc

I think Dacia/Renault have made a big mistake with the newer models, face-lifting it and upping the price. Defeats the whole purpose of this car.
>>
>cheap
>reasonably practical interior
>low operating cost
>reasonably decent ground-clearance so you don't get stuck on a forestry path
>may be awd if someone feels facy, probably won't get stuck as fwd either though
>no fancy bullshit that'll break if hit by a twig and cost €€€€ to fix

Also being the shitty low rent option means less tech and easier maintenance especially on the engine side, and the AWD option actually has a locking center diff which is extremely unusual for these cuckboxes and makes it way more useful off road.
>>
It's the fiat panda 4x4 of our age
>>
>>28932316
looks like generic carslop, here in northern Nevada people seem to all be buying Subarus, I think they're Californians who think some snow means you need AWD

9 out of 10 cars on the road today are hideous.

Kia Sportage blows it out of the water for a few quid extra.

20k vs 30k

It's James May's fault

what is the equivalent in usa? chevy bolt?

Gee I wonder why

Cheap and genuinely good cars. As others have mentioned, the AWD version is surprisingly good off-road. I know of two teams that finished this year's Budapest-Bamako with Dusters without problems. One of them was in the "serious racing" division and, if I recall correctly, scored in the top half of the pack.

Upscaled, lifted Mitsubishi Mirage with optional AWD and/or a diesel
>>
>>28932316
At this price point with decent off road capabilities it's either that or a vitara. These came with diesel engines for longer and diesel used to be cheaper. That's about it.

Only thing the Kia blows is its engine

Nissan juke or chevy trax

New EU regulation forced Dacia to put more bells and whistle into the car, so they had to up the price as well. Face-lift was a natural follow-up.

worth every extra penny for a better engine, better features and tech, and more room
>>

simple cars are the best
even a small thing like a headlight bulb is insanely expensive on my bmw
