Had a look underneath, and I could see that the suspension was fairly tired and it could also use new shocks, so I just figured that was the issue and left it at that. A week or so later, I swapped the god-awful 17inch Alpina reps for a set of original 15inch style 5 wheels, and it completely transformed the car; no crashy ride, no tram lining. Was very happy with that discovery.
