>>28933111The Crosstrek is the smallest and would give you the best mileage its closer to being a hatchback car; but it has AWD and the suspension is lifted. The Forrester is a little larger then the Crosstrek and the Outback is a little larger still. Any of them would fit the bill deciding on how big a vehicle you wanted. The Ascent would probably be larger than what you want.I drive a 2011 Outback with the 3.6R H6 engine and a traditional 6 speed automatic. They made those up until 2014 when they switched over to CVT transmissions. If you're looking for a used car those are great, they give you good power and they're not so big that they aren't easy to park. If you're looking for a newer one I'd go for at least a 2020, the first few years of CVT transmissions weren't great. The newer ones are better; but I'd still prefer a traditional automatic. If you want a traditional automatic you could look at some of the Mazda SUV offerings those are pretty solid and Mazda refuses to use CVTs.

>>28933116im gonna reply since this is sorta relevant to meDo you have any experience with the newer imprezas? Need a new car within 2 years since the one i drive is a hand me down and im going to hand it off to a relative soon. AWD is preferred since i work a job that is essential. My parents prefer i get a crosstrek but i prefer smaller a profile and everyone on my family is already driving crossovers and SUVs at this point. I know the outback is just an impreza but lifted by 2-3 inches but im not going offroading anyways
>>28934469Same advice I gave for the Outback would apply to the Impreza. The H6 is a great engine and prior to 2014 they were paired with a 6 speed auto not a CVT. The CVT was introduced in 2012 for the H4 2.5. I'd avoid the early years of CVT.They tend to get thirsty for oil past 120,000 miles; but not too bad. I change my oil every 3000 to 5000 miles and I generally have to add one extra quart between oil changes.
