A 2020 Mercedes C-Class 300 4MATIC for $26k. Seems like an alright deal, but I can't scrape off this feeling I'm missing something and buying this car gonna backfire me.
>>28934456It's a car. It probably does car things. If you want to wait until tomorrow I can test drive one and tell you what I think.
>>28934456It'll be worth $5k within 3 years. Are you really big ballin enough to waste $21k+interest+sales tax + registration taxes? If so why the poorfag Mercedes?
>>28934467I guess you're right, I just have to check this one out myself. I'm out of town tomorrow so most likely will do a test drive on Wednesday / Thursday.
I don't have the experience of other new cars to compare with but MBUX is pretty fantastic imo and if you're comfortable in the seats I don't think there's anything about the car experience you'll dislike. The bigger question is how much service will it need over the time you have it and how much will that cost? 2020 seems far enough away you could gather sufficient others' experiences with this question to determine if this thing's gonna backfire.
>>28934474No interest - I'll pay with cash. Sales tax is 2%, so $520, registration fee is like $40 - those are not costs waste time to consider. I don't think they lose value that much - there are ads for 2015 C class asking for $16k, even with worse engines. Might be a local thing though.
>>28934456Earlier years of C300 with the M270/M274 are well known for having pistons that crack, to the point that there's been a class-action lawsuit against MB as the failures are so common. 2020 is past the most notorious years or 2016-2019 that are known for being prone to failure, I'm not sure how "bulletproofed" the 2020 model engines are however.Interior is also notably of lower quality than even older C-Classes, with cheap glossy plastics that creak and scratch easily (there are some optioned with higher quality wood trims like what I see in >>28934481). If you're considering a 4 cyl compact exec car you'd be much better off with a B48-powered BMW, and I'd in fact recommend an Alfa Giulia over that as well - one with the Veloce package (LSD + adaptive dampers) specifically. If you're set on a late model MB I'd look at 6 and 8 cylinder models, something like an E350 that's a couple years older would be a much better car, let alone something like a C400/450. I just don't trust their recent 4cyl engines unless it's an M139/one of the AMG 45s, even against something stereotypically "high maintenance" like an Alfa Romeo (they're not). As for the BMWs, the B48 is as reliable as the B58 which is already regarded as being a pretty reliable engine. It mostly comes down to what balance of tech/infotainment vs performance/handling you want.>t. owns two Mercedes (one V8, one diesel) and a Giulia
>>28934456Yeah the problem is you won't be a goyota driving plebe that doesn't know better. It's evolution, the universe wants you to be a better man
>>28934497I'm pretty set on the newer car, cause they keep introducing "clean air zones" here in Poland. 2015 is hard limit, but I'd prefer something that's from 2020 or newer. That's very informative post, thanks anon.
>>28934474it'll probably be worth $10k by the time he's done with it, and he'll prob spend $10k on service and repairs too. OP idk if you've owned a mercedes or other luxury cars before but high repair costs are unavoidable.
>>28934497Your recommending people buy a stellantis product you worthless retarded fucking nigger
>>28934519is there a genesis g70 you could buy? at least in the states, you could buy a v6 g70 for the same price as an equivalent mile and year c300. not sure what it would look like with you local taxes, going up in displacement
>>28934456buy bmw, the g series are alright
>>28934456You still have to pay $60k car insurance and maintenance even if you only pay $26k for it.
>>28936547technically he doesn't need to pay for 60k car insurance, depreciation has hit
>>28936258>not sure what it would look like with you local taxes, going up in displacementIf you're buying a used car you just pay 2% PCC tax. AFAIK an equivalent in the US is financial transaction tax. The seller pays nothing, unless they benefitted from the transaction (i.e. selled for more than they bought) and it's within half a year from aquiring the car. I will look into Genesis, but I'd like to buy European though. It's also not that popular brand, so the availability is limited. There's literally like 10-20 G70 ads right now, for the whole country. 100k PLN is like 27k USD.
