Why did Acura fail so badly with the MDX-type S. I remember reading a car review where they found it wasn't actually any faster in testing than the non type-s version. It's a really nice idea - turbo V6 in a family crossover, but the execution is sloppy and the interior is dated and they've done nothing to update it, while pushing the Pilot over to a new platform since like 2022, but this somehow is even older?https://youtu.be/OseYcXjQTBkIt even has double wishies up front!
>>28934866>SUVsloplol who cares
>>28934874the public wants lifted hatchbacks, get with the zeitgeist
guess the lack of mcdonald's struts doesn't make a car now does it. yes i am calling you out mcdonald's schizo.
>>28934973Double wishies can't make a bad car suddenly good, but mcdonalds struts certainly make an otherwise good car worse.
>>28934982it implies a bit more effort than the base amount possiblealsoa) this is a big bitchb) this is why it failedit's not roomy enough
>>28935010>sheanon i...
>>28935198where does the word she appear in my comment
>>28935198She enough for me.>inb4 elbows too pointy
>>28935199>this is a big bitchi was going off of this
>>28935205bitch is used as a mild derogatory insult in the gay community>>28935204the voice is terribly unconvincing I just would rather hear these people's real nerdy male voices it would be far less grating and I wonder if on some level they realize that
>>28934866Nobody fucking cares what kind of suspension it has. Nobody is going to pay $70k+ for a tarted up Pilot with a Turbo. At that point you're getting into Yukon Denalis, Suburbans and Escalades with 400hp V8's.
>>28935223I mean they would if the interior were nicer and more modern and the engine were not mysteriously almost no faster than the non turbo variant. They had an opportunity here, and bunted. The chebby 6.2 is an ancient pushrod design that is awful on fuel economy in exchange for that 400 hp + the 6.2 has had tons of "machining dust" mystery problems in recent years that are yet unsolved. Suburban is a body on frame design. It is not going to handle or brake nearly as well as any unibody SUV.
>>28934866>Why did Acura fail so badly The better question.
still wood. yes I know. still wood
>>28934866>the execution is sloppy and the interior is dated and they've done nothing to update it, while pushing the Pilot over to a new platform since like 2022, but this somehow is even older?that's why, but if you're asking why the Japanese choose not to update their platform then it's just a cultural thing. Chrysler and Chrysler adjacent companies do the same thing, but it works for them because they don't make retarded decisions like sloppy execution or bad interiors on release, the competition just catches up and surpasses them over the 15 year platform lifespan
>>28935678>then it's just a cultural thingcope so big you could throw a hummer in ita midsize suv is potentially the most profitable (other than full sized suvs) vehicle a luxury automaker can make, they half assed it, then abandoned itit DOESNT work for them
>>28935643Zased.
>>28935229>"machining dust" mystery problems in recent years that are yet unsolvedNo mystery, C&C machining leaving sharp edges.
>>28935784no like, multiple manufacturers have blamed machining dust when that's clearly not the actual problem since its a multi-year issue and is likely an issue with manufacturing specification and not worker error but they don't want to admit it and have to pay for new engines for everyone
>>28935694it doesn't work for them, yet the Japanese persist. see Infiniti
>>28935788well, at a minimum Infiniti did design a new platform for big truggs, even though the reviews have been middling, which is more than Honda can say. I have seen a fair number of the Nissan Armada/QX 80 twins, though I will say all the Japanese/Korean manufacturers suffer from making vehicles that seem a bit narrower and shorter than their American rivals and I think they don't sell as much because they aren't roomy enough. That said, the Pathfinder, Rogue, and Murano are all ancient and all need new platforms and engines that they won't get for at least 5 years.
>>28935799They should have killed the pathfinder when they made it too fat to find paths.
Luxury cars shouldn't have torque steer, so torque is limited for your comfort.
>>28935803they are somehow planning to bring it back on two different platforms, one unibody, and one body on frame variant, but I assume this would just be a smaller version of the platform underlying the Armada, rather than a dedicated smaller platform for truggs (like the Ford Ranger, ancient 2011 as it is)they need a smaller truck platform for pathfinfer and xterra but will probably lazy outand the pathfinder should just be bof and the unibody one is the murano with a new platform, but again, it's nissan, so nothing is new and everything is 20 years old and they keep barely getting away with it like a chrysler that wont' die>>28935807It's AWD that shouldn't be an issue but rly something this large and luxury should have an e-lsd like the Genesis offers
>>28935786Oil change interval coupled with machining flash.
>>28935216No you're not gonna call me no bitch
>>28935872Don’t act like one, honey.
>>28935895I'm gonna stick your weave in your mcdonald's struts
>>28935784>C&CYou mean Computer &umerical Control?
>>28935912I wish I had double wishies.
