https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a71218726/honda-delays-next-generation-accord-odyssey-2030s/They ain't making any new cars. They are just going to Suzuki and slowly disappear.
all mass market manufacturers should do this and directly blame eco regulations for making shit too expensive to sell
Oh no, anyway..
Obvious slop
>>28936750Good. Fuck Honda for abandoning their core clientele to chase the crossover and SUV markets.
>>28936761anon if you read the article they are equally abandoning all product linesthey have desperately outdated products that they are now delaying updates on (i.e. they are out of money and panicking)
>>28936765Yes. I want Honda to fucking die for killing off the Type R.
>retooling costs 15bCan't they at least just sell the tooling, most designs etc of their cancelled e-cars to some chinese company or something to offset the cost at least partially? All the development that went into those cancelled cars should be worth a lot.
>>28936766>can't even sell a type r with an automaticI don't think they really want to sell much of it anyways
>>28936750>expect government tax credits to last forever>turns out nobody actually gives a fuck about EVs without the rebatesNo shit. Anybody could've seen this coming.
>next generation accordNever going to happen. It's as good as dead at this point. It's been bloated up into a land yacht nobody wants, and the Civic is plenty large enough now that there's no reason for the Accord to exist.
>>28936787>the Civic is plenty large enough now that there's no reason for the Accord to exist.This. I used to have an '03 Accord, loved that car, but it was as big a car as I would ever want. The Civic is now the same size as that Accord was and it's what I went with despite missing some niceities of the Accord.Honda needs to stop with the "bigger is better" trend. Nobody buys a Honda for that.
honda sold like a half million crv's last year and a quarter million civcs i think they'll be fine
>>28936797>twice as many SUVs as sedansGrim.
>>28936787Its not that big.
>>289367502nd largest automaker in the world had its first loss year in it's history and they slightly delay their new cars to recoup some losses and pants on head retarded /o/ reads that as Honda completely giving up on selling cars and will be out of business any day now.Oh also, I bought a brand new manual Civic Si last year, so Ive done more to help the auto industry than the rest of this board combined.
>>28936787>Civic is plenty large enough now that there's no reason for the Accord to exist. This is what mazda realized with the 3 and killed off the 6.>>28936792>Nobody buys a Honda for that.Brown people do, and they make up 70% of the worlds population.
>>28936753fucking BASED
>>28936830there's no way they sell more cars than gm or kiahoon globallyits probably one of those situations where sub-brands are treated like different entities (i.e. pretending kia and hyundai are different companies)
As a society we need to move beyond the obsession with car "generations" and "platforms". They're an antiquated concept from a time long since gone, a time when technology was progressing rapidly and new generations meant real changes. The F150 and Mustang are new "generations" yet built on the same platform from 11 years ago.The Model S is the same "generation" as it was in 2013 yet shares only 3% of its parts and none of the software. If you believe a new generation or a new platform means the new car will be better and faster and more reliable then we all know not all of these things are true all of the time.
>>28937036>glazing outdated products the mustang interior is TERRIBLE
>>28937044No one's "glazing" shit, retard. You hating the interior literally proves my point. Ford making a new "generation" of Mustang didn't make it better. Honda postponing the new generation of Accord is not a bad thing because new generations are not intrinsically better anymore. We all need to stop worrying about generations and platforms are just worry about the car as it is.
>>28936753Based AFFuck carsFuck yeah bikes
>>28937061it has a cheap shitty rental car interiorford needs to try harder
>>28937063yeah you right i guess they should make a new generation huh
>>28937036Model S died last month
>>28937065basedand make it roomier tooa mustang should seat 4 adults in comfort
Good. Death to all nipshit
>>28936750The Odyssey is fine as-is, but prices will continue to rise for them, and normies will flee to Toyota or even Kia for the newer stuff.
Good. Everything they sell now is ugly, boring, and overpriced. Fuck Honda.
>>28937344Overpriced and boring maybe but Honda is making some good looking cars right now.
>>28937352>Honda is making some good looking cars right now
>>28937362Keyword "some".
There's going to be a recession next year that's why they are shelving all this and building Trump specials
>>28937283Nope, the Odyssey is ANCIENT and desperately needs an overhaul. They need to figure out how to combine the 2.0T engine with a hybrid powertrain for larger cars like the Pilot and Odyssey and Ridgeline but they are LAZY. The Kia Carnival is a much newer, nicer design.
>>28937283All of Honda's v6 vehicles are ancient gas-guzzlers and the competition have hybrid options. Ever since Zion Don was ordered by Israel to attack Iran, you might have noticed gas prices spiked. Why would anyone buy a Ridgeline when a Maverick is cheaper and twice as efficient? Yeah, I'm a Honda fanboy and I'll admit the Ridgeline is way higher quality, but in these economic times that only goes so far.
>>28937750I mean they could try hybridizing the v6 powertrain...Maverick is horrible, it's a rental-grade Ford Escape econobox that you only care about because you think it looks masculine and confers social status on that basis by implying you do physical labor and thus need a bed to haul supplies around. It's a meme.
>>28937760>it's a rental-grade Ford Escape econoboxThat's the point. That's why people love it. Hybrid powertrain with a bed and it starts under 30k.
>>28936752it has nothing to do with regulations when its competitors like toyota are literally struggling to make enough cars to sell and mazdas are throwing suvs everywhere. Honda is just getting fucked from best of ICE and best of EVs because they have mediocre products
>>28938130most of them are not selling for under 30kit's vastly overpriced for the quality you getnotice nobody ever talks about how well it brakes, rides, steers, etc.because it's AWFUL
>>28936792>>28936787the problem is that consumers generally want to maintain the same interior size (duh), but safety laws keep forcing the physical size of cars to increase. So for a useable car you now have to drive something massive, or you have to downsize to a midget mobile to keep the same exterior dimensions. Here in America, normal sized humans like myself (5'8", 280lbs of muscle) who just want something normal strugle, because we can't fit into cars designed for pygmies but don't want a fuck-huge Denali either.
>>28937362I'm in Japan. They don't make anything good looking anymore. Simply practical. The stuff that America won't get like the StepWagon Spada or new Freed may never come to Murrican, retarded yes because they are literally peak MPV tier shit. Toyota makes higher end MPVs now too, so I legitimately think Honda is fucked as a company. Maybe Mitsubishi will actually try to make something better than the D:5 Delica but honestly I doubt it. Btw I'm gonna buy a 2014 Odyssey 2.4L absolute soon to replace my absolutely fucked Prius Alpha/V. My wife and her mom absolutely fucking ruined the exterior lolRip my bank account but for ¥580-780,000 used with under 130,000km I'll be happier since my family is getting bigger in 4 months.
>>28938309Btw I ride a Honda. And now since Honda makes cars in China I'm never buying a new one again.
