Do you still enjoy driving in 2026?The increasing amount of roaming, bored boomers, towel heads and jobless losers has made me loathe driving. And it will keep getting worse. Even driving to the lake house, you’re stuck behind people any day of the week. There's nowhere to have a spirited drive anymore. Either you’re stuck behind someone or you’re constantly worried about getting a ticket. What is even the point of a sporty car anymore? It’s gotten ridiculous. Everywhere, there are people driving around who can’t be bothered to get through lights properly. As long as they make it through, fuck whoever is behind them. People drive to the mall just to wander around and buy nothing. On top of that, you get stuck at uncoordinated lights for two minutes at a time for no reason, just crawling from one red light to the next. Roads are getting narrower because of bike lanes that people don't even use. Speed limits keep getting lowered to absurd levels, and there’s been a noticeable increase in police presence where I live. It feels like you constantly have to watch how you’re driving, even when you’re being safe.I work from home, and the thought of stepping out and having to drive already puts me in a bad mood. Something that used to be a 5 minutes drive has turned into 15. Getting a burger at lunch time almost takes 45 minutes now, even though the joint is only about 2km away.My 13yo car is rusting out badly and I’d need to spend at least 5k CAD just to fix the visible rust. A decent new car is around 40k CAD. The idea of paying that much (repair or car payments) for something I don’t even enjoy anymore makes me sick to my stomach.Honestly, I’m starting to dislike cars in general. They’ve become boring and stale unless you’re ready to throw a grand a month at one. Even then you can't even use it for what it was made for and you still have to deal with careless drivers and horrible roads. It is ridiculous.
>>28937487excellent blog, thanks for taking your time to come here and post it here for all of us to review.
Yes. Driving is still one of the highlights of my life. Been driving 20+ years. I worry about cops less than I ever have.I live where traffic jams are exceedingly rare and rust isn't a thing. I'm sorry you live in a city in the north.
>tfw stuck behind a nissan going 15mph in a 30mph zone>driver obviously watching tiktok>driver wandering all over the road>almost rear ends car in front of themThe penalty for driving while using a phone should be HIGHER than DUI
>>28937487I'm happiest behind the wheel of a rig desu. I've been out for a few weeks changing companies to something local and I'm homesick for my old truck and the open highway.
No matter how gay they try to make new cars and kill ownership as a hobby I can still take my old truck out to the middle of nowhere and get lost. What they’ve killed with the immigrants is doing it on any scenic byway. Running into a traffic jam of Indians in Teslas on top of Rainier is abominable but I can still go out on public land and enjoy the emptiness and cut the dog loose to go nuts. They haven’t taken that yet.
>>28937504nahhhhh.that person would just find something else to get distracted by. throwing the book at people who managed to touch their phone while driving is just feel good mommyism to mask the fact that cunts are not great drivers. (but hey, let's add more touch screens everywhere, right?)Truly, making driving brain dead easy (cruise control, AT, lane assist, etc etc) is responsible for far more accidents than anything else; because it allows someone to get away with being completely distracted 99% of the time.
>>28937510You know what, you're right, penalties for committing an act without causing trouble is fine, we should reduce the penalties for DUI and distracted driving, however, anyone who causes an accident while distracted, then the penalties should be applied harder than they currently are. I think that's fairer
>>28937521Here's the thing. As it is right now, you can drive drunk. If you actually can do it, no one will call the cops on you and you can drive right by cops and they won't pull you over... but people do pulled over, for obvious reasons.
>>28937521i'd also revisit the entire DUI thing entirely, it's basically a feminist cult cunting endlessly over alcohol. due to their endless, unceasing kvetching they've lobbied for some dodgy loopholes to the constitution regarding DUI checkpoints and the like.Further the standard .08 limit is bonkers low. i know goyPT will disagree with me on this (because it's HR jeet programming) but a seasoned drinker at .08 is going to be just fine to operate a car. if they're going to charge and ruin someone's life over this, they need objective metrics to gauge impairment, not some ridiculous breath measuring, or field sobriety tests that are COMPLETELY at the officer's interpretation.>t. anon who doesn't even drink and drive, but Christ alive, the punishments are stupidly severe.
>>28937487I've enjoyed driving more this year than years before, thanks. Not reading all that, though.
>>28937526I'm an alcoholic. I'm drunk at 1PM. I don't drink and drive, I plan out sober hours a day ahead.Yes, BAC does not correlate to impairment because tolerance is a thing. But, consider, you can get a DUI for weed if you piss positive. I've tested positive over 100 days after last use. And, desu, I don't think weed impairs your driving if you are a regular user, alcohol very obviously does even if you do it every day. You can get a DUI for using weed 3 months ago. Alcohol law is fairly permissive relatively.I think the alcohol law as it is today, is fine.Do you want LaQuanda out driving drunk in a world where she can only be punished after she kills you? No.
>>28937535>Do you want LaQuanda out driving drunk in a world where she can only be punished after she kills you? No.No of course not. my point is that you could have a beer or two at lunch or something, then get pulled over for literally any reason a few minutes later and blow .08 and it's a life ruining DUI. Or in some states (oregon here, and a few counties pull this shit) get pulled over and blow a .04; but you can STILL be charged with a dui if speeding or commit any kind of infraction.I also don't believe that setting up fishing expeditions (DUI checkpoints) is constitutional, and you should not be subject to search with zero probable cause, jsut because some cunty spinster thinks it's okay>for the children>weedagain, proving my point, yes you can test positive for weeks after last use, without a mechanism to judge ACTUAL impairment, it's bullshit. See also "driving while tired".So if Laquanda or RamonJoseMartinez is *actually* drunk, then yes, throw the book at them.
>>28937539I get what you're saying, I do. I'm from the '80s, grew up in europe, I remember my parents having 3-4 glasses of wine and the ouzo shot they used to give to everyone after dinner and they'd drive home, seemed normal to me.But, at the end of the day, having a standard .08 is the easiest and cheapest way to implement. People really do get killed by drunk drivers and, it's not cool.I don't think there should be targeted checkpoints, AI cameras, or breathalyzers, I think a cop or citizen seeing poor driving is a good enough indicator.
>>28937539>again, proving my point, yes you can test positive for weeks after last use,To be clear, the internet says weeks, but I have failed urine tests over 100 days later. I know other people with similar experiences. It's lipophilic unlike other chems.BAC is not an indicator of intoxication, but at least it only encompasses use in the last several hours.
>>28937487Good to know it's not just here that is like that.I hate driving and it has gotten to the point were I want to turn my city into a parking lot or a massive hole in the ground. I ride my bicycle to work to avoid all the geriatrics, zombies and women. My state also common sense and its legal for bicycles to be on the footpath and their are bikeways going to and from my work. So I don't have to be on the road and the level of fitness required would kill geriatrics so I'm happy.
>>28937553>BAC is not an indicator of intoxication, but at least it only encompasses use in the last several hours.Yes, it's INFERRING intoxication, but it's not PROOF of intoxicationCan you think of any other examples in jurisprudence that allow such a low bar for conviction? :(>you see your honor; anon owned a handgun, therefore he could have done it. why should MADD get to dictate these things just because some weeping mothers want to revisit their 1960's era civil rights activism LARP?
>>28937487>or you’re constantly worried about getting a ticketsounds like you're just a bitch with no rd
>>28937569>Yes, it's INFERRING intoxication, but it's not PROOF of intoxicationJust be glad alcohol is legal at all. Jesus christ, cut yourself off from things that will require driving after 2 drinks. ezpzpi
>>28937582bruh, i try not to drive after drinking at all. in my state (OR) you can quite literally be charged with a DUI with a .01 BAC if caught speeding, have a broken taillight, etc etc (depending on county, Benton for example has a zero tolerance law)hell, i wouldn't be at all surprised if you could also be charged with DUI if you tested positive for thc, and the DA wanted to throw the book at you.The problem is primarily with bending the law and legal standards for one set of offenses, makes it that much easier to do the same elsewhere. We have the constitution to protect us from government overreach, and that needs to be a red line to not be crossed, irrespective of how many mother's tears are produced.
>>28937586I get what you're saying, I'm anti-authoritarian as fuck, but I don't see the problem. As it is, right now, before AI driver monitoring cameras... If you can drive fine while drunk, you won't get pulled over in the first place. Think about it.
>>28937539Step 1 don't get pulled overStep 2 don't act like a drunk retard and they won't test youIf all this seems like too much for you then you can include step 0: don't go out boozing for lunch then hop in your car
>>28937618the reading comprehension here is just .. wtf.or perhaps it's the lack of fucking ID's for posters or something.i do not drink and drive, at all. the penalties are just too stupidly high, and the threshold for conviction is so minimal. >don't get pulled overcops look for any excuse to pull someone over, broken tail light, failure to signal, that preternatural sixth sense they all seem to have that someone might be a troublemaker, whatever. >don't act like a drunk retard and they won't test youbullshit as well. if they can't find anything else to fuck with you over, a field sobriety test is 100% open to their interpretation. but overallHOW DO THOSE BOOTS TASTE, holy fucking shit.
>>28937623>cops look for any excuse to pull someone over, broken tail light, failure to signalso check your tail lights and use your turn signals?>bullshit as well. if they can't find anything else to fuck with you over, a field sobriety test is 100% open to their interpretationon the rare occasions I have been pulled over, I've never been given a field sobriety test, I assume, because I don't drive like a retard and I don't reek of liquor
>>28937526>there's a snowstorm this morning, better grab a beer before I hop in my Vette and light up a heater for the morning commuteWe used to be a proper country.
>>28937487yes. i work the night shift part time or gig at nights which means i dont regularly have to deal with traffic. also i live in NJ now and yes the drivers are mentally ill debtmaxxers but they at least use blinkers and tend to get out of the left lane more often. also the highways and parkways are relatively straightforward. i did not enjoy driving during my brief pursuits in DC, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

>>28937509>I can still go out on public land and enjoy the emptiness and cut the dog loose to go nuts. They haven’t taken that yetYet.
>>28937487>Speed limits keep getting lowered to absurd levelsSpeed limits compensate for the lowest common denominator and the speed limits keep being lowered to compensate for the influx of Indian migrants who reduce that level of competence. Now that the population has been flooded with Jeets the average intelligence and level of competence of the lowest common denominator has reduced to a much lower level so the speed limits have to accommodate for the new level of lowest common denominator. tldr; more jeets = lower speed limits (to compensate for their incompetence)
