Got an oil change and my mechanic recommended me a bunch of homework including differential fluid, brake fluid, trans fluid. I know this is bs because this trans fluid was flushed 16k miles ago and diff fluid is even newer. Why do mechanics think I'm retarded and don't have an autistic log of my maintenence? They recommended engine mounts too >Right front engine mount torn >Replace rear wall side engine mount leaking >Replace original (radiator) hoses All of this totalling like $2.5k LMAO Are any of these valid? I know my brake fluid is also supposed to be lifetime (Honda).Pic related is the "torn" mount
>>28938347Also if these niggers keep opening the brake fluid reservoir are they not exposing it to water?
Which Honda? If it has VCM then your engine mounts are electromechanical to offset the engine balance when you deactivate 2-3 cylinders; this company does tear and fail, get a VCM Tuner to intercept the ECT signal if you have a 3.5l V6, will also save your pistons in the future. Brake fluid is never lifetime. There's no fluid or rubber component in your car that's lifetime.
>>28938362I have a vcm muzzle and only drive in S mode.It's a 2015 Honda Crosstour v6
>>28938347>I know my brake fluid is also supposed to be lifetime (Honda).nibba what?i bought a 30k mileage Accord with ACC. the brake fluid was fucking BLACK. first thing I replaced when I got it home.mechanics will recommend shit based on mileage. they dont expect people to change any of their fluids besides engine oil.that picture shows nothing. look at the actual rubber. are there any engine vibrations at idle?
>>28938398well than /hg/ lied to me. But what's funny is that the mechanic is offering a lifetime warranty for their $250 bake fluid flush. So which is it?>are there any engine vibrations at idle? Not that I've noticed.
>>28938427>offering a lifetime warranty for their $250 bake fluid flushthat means when the fluid gets black you can come back for a free flush.its like a lifetime alignment. I get one for every car I own and when I do any suspension mods, I come back and get my shit aligned for free.Firestone hates this, ive been kicked out of 2 already cause all of the sudden they "dont work on lowered vehicles" whatever, ive had like 6 alignments done already, it paid for itself over and over again.
>>28938347>Are any of these valid? We don't know since you forgot to tell us the make, model, and mileage, but as >>28938362said, no fluid or rubber compound in a car is "lifetime". What Honda meant is your brake fluid could probably be stretched for the average ownership period a car (5 years) or a certain mileage with regular flushes before having to be replaced; likely in some fine print somewhere in the owner's manual.
>>28938438see >>28938369What's a good price for a flush? >>28938432Gotcha, why'd you lower your car though? Are you black or maxican?
>>28938427>Not that I've noticed. It's hard to notice an issue that gradually gets worse. While in Park, put the car in Neutral. If you notice less vibrations, you have worn engine mounts.>2015 HondaRight, so an 11-year-old car is going to need a lot of consumable parts replaced by now. Which includes engine mounts, especially the ones fill with fluid.>Got an oil change and my mechanic recommendedSo, you can't wrench at all? Who did your previous fluid changes?
>>28938445Thanks. I just tried this and noticed no difference between park and neutral.I probably will get a brake flush at my normal mechanic.
>>28938347What mileage and what model and year?
>>28938557Read the thread and 119k miles.
>>28938726You are only 20k past the recommended mileage to change the diff fluid. I assume the same for the other fluids. I do not think it's unreasonable for the mech to suggest those services if he didn't know the history of the car.
>>28939168Can't they run my vin though carfax though?
>>28939331again, are you a wrenchlet that cant change his own fluids?maybe ask the mechanic if he bothered to run a carfax, or the last place that changed your fluids if they even entered the data.do you go to the dealer? i doubt small shops have a carfax license. they are not cheap
>>28938427>lifetime warranty for $250 brake fluid flushYou can do the same with a bleeder kit and ten bucks of brake fluid, just find a youtube video that covers how to do it for your vehicle. Brake fluid is like $10 a bottle not even, so you're just giving this dude $240 to do something that takes him a few minutes to do.
>>28938347>engine mount leakingEh?
>>28940349probably a fancypants fluid-filled engine mount to further dampen vibrations etc.the xv10 camry had it for the front mount, at least on the v6 models, since they just used all the parts from the es300
>>28940329>takes him a few minutes to do.I dont know what car you have, but every single car I've ever blead brakes on requires removal of all 4 wheels.im sure you can get to the bleeders if you jack up the car and crawl underneath it, but at that point, you might as well take the wheels off and not spend anytime underneath.shops have lifts, they literally do it in minutes.
