>someone asks if they should do a fun DIY project on their car
>reddit always says 'no' and tells to buy a whole new car that's factory built kind of somewhat similarly instead and that should be close enough
>car forums always say 'no' and tell you to buy a different car from the same manufacturer
>they do it anyway
>nothing goes wrong and everything works
Why are car guys nowadays so fucking gay and boring? What happened since the 2000s that garage tuning your own car is so frowned upon?

redditors are the problem. they are smart enough to be superificially logical and want to jerk each other off about it. None of them can think on their own to conclude that a purely logical life is boring and that a certain degree of stupidity and delusion is a virtue.

Generation of men hobbled from birth and infantilized by their parents, too afraid to try things on their own. It's only going to get worse.

this. i wanted to add a bumper to my unibody car. went and checked reddit for some more information about the endeavor as one does, and there's a bunch of fags saying "nooooo you can't do that it'll compromise the heckin crumple zones and cause MORE damage!!". i didn't listen. a few months later i ended up driving through a tornado and crashed into a fallen oak tree with about the diameter of a 2 liter soda bottle with my newly forged nigger killer bumper. it literally exploded the tree into pieces and saved my car. thanks to my stubbornness i am still driving that car today. moral of the story: never listen to wrenchlets or redditors.

more often than not it's because forums will have the umpteenth "hey bro i wanna turbo my car" and then the OP will quietly slink away when he realises just how much time, money and effort is actually involved in converting an NA car to forced induction. regulars get sick of seeing them and become jaded.
also people can be really fucken stupid. like, this kind of stupid: https://honda-tech.com/forums/road-racing-autocross-time-attack-19/help-port-polish-457410/

lmao what a fucking retard
I can see why you'd become jaded if you had to put up with this shit day in and day out

>run 12 pounds of sand through your engine
>surprised it makes funny noises
i am not drunk enough to find this funny it's just plain retarded

and the shame is retards sully the waters of good ideas. Anybodu who knows more than jack shit hears endless retarded "good" ideas and learns to dismiss all novel ideas as retarded by default. Then I come along suggesting a massive modern battlecruiser and am tarred with the same retard-brush before I can explain myself.
I grant that it is an off the wall idea but it makes sense, though it needs about 5 different unconventional ideas at the same time to explain that and just about any internet-expert hears the first 2 and has dismissed the thought before hearing the other 3.

Yeh fuck crumple zones
>>
>needed internet validation for anything
9 times outta 10 it's always a shitbox owner trying to justify/modify their cope into something it simply isn't when they should be focused on the neglected maintenance with ancient fluids especially when it's the sole vehicle you need to go back and forth to work. I don't want to be anti-fun and say don't do xyz but it's simply easier (and cheaper in the long run)into having one perfectly fine normal boring car and to have a dedicated toy you can take your time with and appreciate

I think a lot of "car enthusiasts" are actually just driving enthusiasts. The car is just a tool that gets them the sensation of driving fast (straight line or around curves). Others are into driving offroad or hauling shit around or other activities that you need a car/truck for. So, when you say that you want to make your slow car faster or better offroad or whatever, they'll assume you're just a driving enthusiast like them and are trying to get as much speed or offroad prowess or hauling capacity or whatever for your money.

>"car enthusiasts" are actually just driving enthusiasts
More like consumers, status seekers.
