Others are into driving offroad or hauling shit around or other activities that you need a car/truck for. So, when you say that you want to make your slow car faster or better offroad or whatever, they'll assume you're just a driving enthusiast like them and are trying to get as much speed or offroad prowess or hauling capacity or whatever for your money.
