Is 10 years even old for a car anymore?
It is again, yes. There was a small window when cars were made better than in the 80s structurally but now they're so pumped full of RETARDED electronics that it's a financial total loss when one little magical box of the dozens inside them eventually breaks. We went so far that some cars would even stop working if servers of their companies shut down.We could have cars that EASILY could last 30 and more years but the electronics in them is what will fuck each and everyone of them.
>small sensor inside the tank fails>sensor is part of an assembly that is meant to be swapped as a whole, not fixed>instantly 5k in part and repair cost Modern cars are not meant to run longer than the 5 to 10 years max they were designed for. Back then it was the lack of rust prevention and now it's electronics and packaging.
>>28939729Pretty much any modern vehicle is designed to last 200,000 miles and not much longer.
>>28939729I drive a 20 year old bmw and it looks brand newthe rear subframe bushings need a little polyurethane injection and the headlights have yellowed a little. the leather on the driver seat is a little worn.it has only 200k miles on it
>>28939729Nah, the average car in the US is now nearly 13 years old, and that age just keeps on growing every year.>>28939734I've had this issue with numerous '80s and '90s cars, domestic and foreign. It's what junkyards are for, since dealers have always pulled kikery with making you replace "the whole thing" instead of the small piece that actually breaks. It's nothing new.I predict shit like wet belts and direct injection, combined with watery oil is going to be what actually kills off the average nucar the second they hit neglectful BHPH-tier 3rd owners that barely even change said oil. Don't forget the CELs that owners would drive with for years, "Oh it's just a sensor", that on your average nucar will likely trigger a permanent limp mode essentially making the car undrivable.
Old goodNew bad
Considering the average vehicle age is now 12+ yearsno
