Looking for a daily and struggling to decide between a sedan and a more practical crossover, particularly a hybrid.
How much money are you looking to spend? Kia sells both a K4 and K5 sedan, and you can get the latter in AWD or with an engine upgrade, but stupidly not with both, and the former you can get a turbo, or a hatch. The latter has existed for longer and will be more affordable if you want a new-gen but on the used market (2020+ I think or somewhere around there).
>>28940314sedans are more practical than crossovers because you can drive them without embarrassing yourself
>>28940314Get a sedan with hatchback opening. They are the GOD level of vehicles. Highly practical, highly fun. Highly aesthetic.
>>28940314Sedans are a great middle ground that offers good mpgs, decent storage, and can be fun (though not all are). Especially if you're a single guy, there's no reason to get a crossover. >>28940323Begone shill
RS3 sedan
911 obviously
>>28940314Crossovers are better than sedans especially if you have a family. Obviously you should buy a minivan in that case, but between the two go for the crossover.
>>28940314The only reason to choose a sedan over a crossover is if you can't afford not to.
>>28940357I think those are called fastbacks or sportbacks.
>>28940314Does a Ford Maverick count as a sedan? Its unibody, has 4 doors, can seat 4 adults comfortably, can get upwards of 50mpg on the hybrid powertrain, has the utility of a truck bed. Because its an inexpensive vehicle in some trims you can customize it to your hearts content if thats your jam, or just get the top trim and be done with it.
>>28940314Sedans were never the best choice anon
>>28940314wagon > sedan
>>28940567Audi calls them that. But they're just sedans with a more expensive liftgate. Usually hatchback sedans are in the more luxury segment of sedans.
>>28940353>Anon I had so much fun on our date, why don't we drive up that unmaintained path to the makeout spot?>Anon? You're sweating...
>>28940959>why don't we drive up that unmaintained path to the makeout spot?Bitch what unmaintained path? I live in a first world country.
>>28940959Extreme skill issue, the only things that would stop a sedan would also stop a crossover.
>>28940998Factually incorrect. Crossovers objectively have more ground clearance and better angles.
>>28941005Learn to drive. You're just proving the stereotype that crossover bitches can't drive. Also crossovers give you shit visibility of pot holes right beneath you since you're so elevated.
Sedan will always be the best choice for everything. They look good, they're fun, practical and the visibility is far superior since you can actually see what's right beneath and next to you. If you're in a neighbourhood with kids running about, I would never drive a massive SUV around.
>>28940673>Usually hatchback sedans are in the more luxury segment of sedans.Probably the opposite actually because the hatch affects refinement. For example the Audi A5 Sportback is a hatch while the A7 is a conventional saloon, same with the 4 Series GC vs the 8 Series. Not to mention 5 doors like the Sokda Octavai/Superb and the Mondeo
>>28940314>a more practical crossoverWell seeing as you're clearly extremely gay a crossover should be right up your alley.
>>28941585A7 is also a Sportback. Or atleast exists as one. BMW 3 series is normal trunk, 4 and 5 series are hatchback sedans/saloons or whatever fuck you want to call them. Usually a hatchback opening in a sedan is way costlier in production. This is why after all the cost saving Tesla Model 3 got rid of the Model S hatchback. Model S is way more premium.
>>28940567Liftback is the most common term
>>28940314>Are Sedans Still The Best Choice?Long roof for the win
>>28941528Skill has nothing to do with it. You're taking about cold hard numbers here. We (should, at least) agree that there is a point where something becomes impassable in a sedan. If it was a simulation where you could just slowly increase the difficulty of an a road or a driveway, the sedan will eventually be defeated. On that same road the crossover will still be able to continue simply by virtue of being higher of the ground. You might say it's a stretch and you might say it's unrealistic but it's ultimately an objective reality regardless of your emotions
>>28941005sounds like a nu-sedan problem lol
I love my sedan. (Passat TDI) it's very roomy and gets amazing fuel economy. Most of my life I'd daily sedans, mainly because I could never find a wagon for reasonable price in good condition. Only real issue I find is that all the normies daily crossovers, trucks, SUVs, minivans so sometimes looking far ahead down the road isn't an option
>>28941757It also comes a point where it becomes impassable to a crossover too. So by default the crossover is worse than a 4x4? I'd rather have good ground visibility around me all the time than the more situational ground clearance which only comes into play for specific scenarios.By the way, go do a sharp turn with a crossover and now do the same sharp turn with a sedan. One will be very smooth and firm, one will be a wobbly hell. Every time you're turning with a crossover, you're in for a wobbly gut twisting hell. Imagine driving a car that makes you hate your life every time you turn the steering wheel LMAOOOOO
>>28941770Passat is a great sedan. Had a '08 one. Was a real champ in corners, on the highways and very slim for parking lots despite its spacious inside.I still regret selling it desu.
>When you're doing a sharp turn with your fresh new crossover at a speed of 30 miles/hhttps://youtu.be/m3zvVGJrTP8?t=88
>>28941777>So by default the crossover is worse than a 4x4?Of course. But op isn't comparing a crossover to a 4x4. He's comparing a sedan to a crossover.
>>28941794>Of course.Ok so you're actually retarded. Good to know.
by the time 1 inch more ground clearance would save your ass going offroad, both are fucked by their street tires
>>28941806>going offroadNo one said anything about offroading.
>>28940357>can’t fit tall things like a crossover>still lets crackheads smash your window to steal whatever you’ve gotidk sounds like the worst of both worlds.
>>28941830>there is a point where something becomes impassable in a sedanimagine being such a shit driver you need extra ground clearance when sticking to established paths
>>28941847That's not the point. The point is that the statement "the only things that would stop a sedan would also stop a crossover" is objectively false. There exist things that would stop a sedan that wouldn't stop a crossover. This is an argument of pedantry, not real world application.
>>28941855>This is an argument of pedantryyes, your pedantry lolwait till you find out offroad sedans with air suspension exist that will rund circles around your cuckover, not every sedan is a lowered niggermobil
>>28941856>offroad sedans with air suspension existBut the manufacturers of those sedans use the same suspension in their crossover counterparts, nullifying your point entirely.
