>81k miles on it. That price worth it? YouTube Car wizard says this is the 2nd most reliable car right under Toyotas.
>>28941118No.>2nd most reliableIt's almost 30 years old and Ford doesn't even make half the known failure parts anymore, they just slap their name on D*rman.
>>28941118Panther was based when they were giving em away but now it's collector car money, and the p71 the autists like is expensive.
That's not bad considering what else you'd get in the current market for the same money. They float down the road and the leather was marketed as 'glove soft'. There really is nothing like them anymore.
>>28941118Yes. These things will be worth 30-40 grand when new cars start breaking down right off the lot and your only options are either buying old or not getting to work 1/5 of the time
>>28941124>It's almost 30 years old2026 - 2004 = 22 yearsfucking retard.Car Wizard > YOU
>>28941124Listen to this fagget who can’t math.
>>28941118There's a real chance this is one of those "old guy" purchases, that hauled him to the golf course and to see the grandkids, but was otherwise sitting in a garage. For that price, I'd go for it, but be prepared to change out any rubber components, because they'll be shot, INCLUDING the rear air-ride bags. I'd also point out that the electronics repair manual is 2 inches thick and you need custom Ford scan tools to check a lot of that shit, so MAKE SURE there aren't any big electronics issues.
>>28941276Last I checked the air ride controller was $2k Some people will do a spring conversion but then whats the fucking point in getting a lincoln?!
>>28941118>That price worth it?Yeah, check for rust; but that's a good price for one. Worth checking the air ride suspension too. If you start the car and then sit on the bumper you should feel the air suspension lift you up. If the suspension is borked you're looking at around $1000 to fix it. Still could be a good deal if you get the guy to take a little off the price.
>>28941159lanklet went his entire life assuming people are afraid of him, this is the first time he was actually tested
>>28941124>It's almost 30 years oldUh the most recent Town car was 2010, so it's 16 years
>>289413962011 actually.
>>28941118A GMT800 Tahoe/Suburban will be more reliable, pretty much if not comfier considering you can sleep in them and a lot cheaper to keep on the road.
>>28941460Panther platform is one of the most reliable cars ever made. A GMT800 will also be more expensive because the used market for pickup trucks is fucked right now and it will have worse gas mileage. If OP is homeless and wants something to sleep in he should buy a van or a trailer.
>>28941587The 800 is more reliable because it works harder and still exists. I see maybe 10 panthers a year but hundreds of 800's a day. Hmmm. Where did I tell you to buy a pickup? I recommended a Tahoe/Suburban because they tend to skirt the pickup truck meme tax because everybody wants the pickup and not the soccer mom SUV. A Panther and a Suburban get the same fuel economy. OP will be homeless if he's a wrenchlet trying to keep a Panther on the road.
the interior decors are cheapshit and need constant care/replacement, it's all plastic. otherwise great cars, but they suck lots of fuel.
>>28941276>it's guaranteed to be a shitbox!!!You do realize that OP can drive and the inspect (or have it professionally inspected) the vehicle prior to purchase, don't you?You do realize that Used Parts are available from junk yards, don't you?
>>28941707This. E46 engines consume fuel like a v12. Makes no sense.
>>28941159>mfw graduated high school in 2005
>>28941118What good is reliability when it's the worst driving car I've ever driven and gets MPG in the low teens if you drive like a grandma? This car is only good if you're like 6'5" and 300 lbs and you really don't want a truck/SUV for some reason.
>>28941118Gas is too expensive for one as a poorfag car now imo. I've been thinking of one for a few years as a DD but this fuel spike killed that desire. Dealer has a Marquis they've had for 3 years dreaming on getting $13k for it.
>>28941118>Poor gas milage. Driving like an absolute grandma on mostly highway with tires slightly overinflated will never get you better than 19 MPG. I've desperately tried to get more than 20 to no avail.>Braking, acceleration, steering all poorly behaved. It'll make you hate driving anywhere that isn't just straight highway cruising.>Grandma car. You will have zero charisma and people will believe you're borrowing your nan's car while yours is in the shop.>For all the bulk, it's not as comfy as the boxier uglier towncar that came before it. (I've owned them both).>Thankfully it has six gears, unlike the towncar before it.>The intake manifold is easy to get to. Good thing, because you'll be replacing them often because they warp so easily.>Fuel pump is easy to get to. You don't have to drop the tank. It's a solid, reliable car that will make you hate driving and paying for gas, seriously, it gets SUV gas milage with none of the utility or space but at least you'll get to work every day.
And climate control head units ALWAYS fail. You either have to stock up every time you go to the junkyard like I did, locate an old ebay dealer you trust to get a refurbished one, or go without air conditioning. And with those leather seats, you're going to decorate your pants with sweaty dick and ball patterns.
>>28941118Yeah but you have to deal with getting 16mpg, looking like trailer-trash, and having the maneuverability of a boat despite not even being high off the ground.
