luckily my dad's old beater can probably last 60 years of driving

I got lucky and my car does hands free driving without a driver monitoring camera but that's probably a somewhat rare setup and won't exist in a few years.

I think the newer models of my car don't have a camera but they have capacitative sensors built into the steering wheel that require you to maintain contact - whereas my setup just has a torque sensor that requires periodic contact and as long as the road is straight or the speed is low it won't ping you to touch the wheel except every minute - and I've never been able to get more info - none of the car magazines explain the specifics or parameters of how the new hands free driving systems work i.e. how many seconds can you have your hands off the wheel

the problem is you have such widely varying setups and they all are created by lawyers so they will make it more onerous to keep constantly looking at the road and with both hands on the wheel than to just turn off the hands free assist at some point.

eh that's not true its like 2-3 seconds and 10 seconds to load the nav on my machine

I really want to put all manner of very gay bumper stickers on my car, but, I also don't want it to get bashed in in the ruby red ultra-maga rural areas I visit.
alas!

what car was it? maybe it was like an older mg with ancient software?
my kia is I think 2 software systems behind the "newest" one but it's still relatively decent and it updates over the air so you get new maps even though the nav system does take you some crazy ways (it tries to go the most direct way even if that involves non-roads/trails) so I have to load google maps on my phone too and I had one trip where google maps gave a wrong direction and then my car's nav gave a different wrong direction so I had to sort of bi-angulate the correct direction by checking one system against another

where are you that chinese cars exist?
I mean, they are meant to be cheap, you can't expect much.

they sell a 4x4 utility vehicle in Australia I think and I'm kinda rooting for it cuz the design is a little funky and that market segment could use all the competition it can get
but yeah Indian cars are the cheapest other than like mystery 3rd world cars from no-name brands

it was an xuv700 i'm pretty sure but i can't find any videos of the long ass intro
