It probably won't be good for fuel on the highway but around town I'd imagine it's pretty alright. I've never heard about them being unreliable. They have the sort of niche appeal that makes me think there's probably some autists out there making parts to keep them running and fix any issues they do have, but I've never owned one so I haven't actually looked around for parts and mods and shit. Do research there I guess.

Jimnys are great for what they are but you gotta understand what you're getting into, they're cheap capable off roaders and nothing else, they're noisy and unstable on the highway and definitely not made to be a poser pavement princess. If you don't off road and want one just because it's cute, you're gonna regret it.

Low range is handy if you're messing around with mud, heavily laden, going up super steep dirt roads or wet paddocks yelling at sheep. Once in a while you can also watch someone get bogged on a sand dune. Otherwise the vast majority of 'off road' for people is usually a bit of a shitty fire trail or crap road to a picnic spot, all you need for those is some decent tyres, ground clearance and try not to bung it into deep hole at speed.Especially in a light car like a Jimny they rarely need the crazy torque of a low range
